Passholder Preview Night

If you are just a little larger you should be fine, a lot larger not so much.

Anyone yet to attend I offer a few observations;

1 dont worry about carrying anything the lockers by SV are free

2 make sure to carry your hoedown pass with you as its your pass to the food

3 the food lines were long yes but moved quickly so you wont be waiting suoer long

4. The SV queue does move fairly well when the ride is actually runnung so dont be turned off by a long line

5. Pass centers and guest services are all open if you need anything.

The seats and restraints are more roomey than milly or even mine ride, if that helps. Try out the seat but i saw some mildly heafty folks in the queue and one bigger guy survive the test seat.

First ride; Magnum 1994

How do the seats accommodate people with really long legs. I would consider myself to be a fit individual (6’ 175) but I have the legs of somebody who is like 6’4”. Joker at SFDK caused a little discomfort with the shin guard, but I have heard these new restraints don’t even touch most people’s legs. Anybody have any tall friends with experience?

SV ruins all other rides.

I have to say that last night was an absolutely AWESOME night. We were waiting in line and were told it would be 2 hours for Steel Vengeance, so we were faced with a choice of either riding or eating. We opted to eat, because the ride will be there, but the opportunity to try all the new food offerings in one night would not be.

Full disclosure, I knew how good the new food was because we had it on media day - but that was more of a buffet style/toppings bar, so I was looking forward to having food the way it was created by the chefs and intended to be served. I was not disappointed. The brisket is going to be a hot item this year. You can smell it all over Frontier Town, and it smells incredible.

There were a lot of people milling about, but food lines moved quickly and I didn't mind standing in them. I think we made the right choice in trying the foods and taking in a Maverick ride. I'll be back on Sunday for my return to ride Steel Vengeance, and I can't wait to order some of the foods that weren't on the sampling menu - like the loaded chili sidewinder fries.

Nice work, and a big thanks to Cedar Point for this awesome little taste of the year ahead!

We had chili sauce and everything else (except sour cream) on the First Rider buffet but I opted for plain ole BBQ sauce. They were delish. Twice.
And for once in my life I didn’t drop anything down the front of my pretty shirt.

Long time lurker here who rarely posts, but I felt like I should chime in for this.As others have stated, last night was absolutely amazing. This event was wonderfully put together, and every single employee I encountered was friendly and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised by how generous they were to give us 7-8 different locations to choose samples from. I don't normally buy food in the park because I never found it overly appealing or a good value (except for the occasional funnel cake or fries), but wow...the new food options are really good! I can see myself purchasing more food inside of the park after last nights samples.

The Cedar Point team really kicked things up a notch. The atmosphere back in Frontier Town is now more vibrant than ever! The smell of smoked foods, the new storefronts, and most importantly Steel Vengeance, really just ties that area together perfectly. Major thanks to everyone at Cedar Point who helped make this pass holder preview event possible. It was one the best ones I've been to.

I am 6'5". They touch, but barely. I didn't notice any shin discomfort, and seemed like the guards were more than anything keep your feet back and a better position for not slipping out (I.e Not able to extend feet and slip under bar). I don't feel they actively were restraining or putting pressure on my lower legs.

I did have some 'thigh crush' on the lap bar during the ejector moments, but was similar to Magnum and nothing too crazy. Really only became an issue after repetitive rides . Found if I wrapped my hands over the lap bar and slightly between the bar and by thighs, that made it super comfortable, and almost like riding a bunking bronco.

While we saw the Steel Vengeance store, we didn’t get to see the new General Store. From photos it looks really nice. I spoke to a young woman who’s a supervisor in retail and she said the park is really starting to pay attention to that part of the business. This year’s revamp of those two stores are leading the way and she said Park Plaza has also undergone a complete overhaul for this season and looks beautiful. She also said look for more in the future, and I’d hope that includes Pagoda. It’s one of the oldest structures at the park and I think an interior re-design is due at that busy store.

I think one of the best things about places like the Disney parks, Dollywood, and Silver Dollar City is the retail side. It’s actually fun to shop there. The stores are cute, well themed, and the merchandise looks desirable and is varied. For so long CP has had stores that looked more like those junky T-shirt shops you see along Myrtle Beach or somewhere. A conscious step up might prove to be a real money maker.

To the person who asked about Funpix, it was available on Maverick and Steel Vengeance (including the video) at the kiosks. Ours was already processed so I don't know how it works if you buy it on the spot or need it activated. Not sure if they can do that at the ride locations or not.

Unfortunately the steel vengeance video was not linked to the correct train for us so we got some random strangers in our video.

I was disappointed I couldn’t make it last night. Had tickets but things come up.

Sounds like we missed a very nice event. Props to cedar point, they never cease to amaze me. They learn from their past mistakes.

Would’ve sucked waiting so long but that’s a new ride for you. Just got to work out the bugs. I hope they continue to do these events.

Thanks for everyone’s feedback!

Ride on!!!

Long time lurker, first time passholder and poster :-)

I may have missed it, but did they have the sample seat out for us bigger cowboys? I'm 5'7" and 260 - 44 waist pants, belly sticks out above that. I can fit on Mystic Timbers @ KI but I don't think much room beyond. I'm trying to figure out 1) if I will fit and 2) if I can (at least) avoid the walk of shame if not.

Two - can someone tell me where the cameras are? Assuming I can fit, we have Funpix this season and really want better pics than the ones from member's night at KI.

Thank you :-)

I bought the season long Funpix and had it activated at the Maverick photo after my first ride last night. It took the gal working a few minutes to get it set up because her computer was acting up, but if your Funpix hasn't been activated, they can activate it during the event. Hope this helps anyone who may not have an active Funpix account.

Passholder preview looked to have a big celebration with fireworks. Think they’ll do that with opening day?

The Tuesday event was fantastic. The ride rocks, the weather was perfect and we had a great time. Thank you Cedar Point!

Just got back from Tuesday night. Great time other then Maverick having issues.

I am 6-1/220. The lower bar was tight against my legs when they pushed it down. The ride was very painful on my shins and somewhat painful on my stomach. Meanstreak caused fewer issues. I hope it was because the bar was pushed down farther then necessary. Will try if some more times to see if that is the normal for me. I like rides to be a little rough....love Magnum But I can do without black and blue marks on my shins after riding.

Just got home from Tuesday’s event. Wow!

The ride is exactly what I expected after putting in a dozen laps on twisted Timbers it’s opening week. Amazing. I rode in the back seat and am not a huge fan of ejector airtime but I suspect it’s not as bad in the front. The ride layout is simply top notch.

Food was generally very good (except the stockade chicken strips, which were like leather). But many other good options, and way more food than one would require in an evening for those who are wondering if they need to eat beforehand.

By the time we left at 7:30pm the place was packed with long lines for food. We expected this and planned accordingly. We had an amazing evening. Thank you CP for setting the bar high once again!

First off shout out to Mother Nature for some amazing weather.
Stayed in Huron Monday night, went to PIB Tuesday to visit a friend bartending there, and got to the park around 4. Got a few rides on Maverick before getting in line for the main event. 25 minute wait and I was on. I really can't add to what everyone else has said, my brain is still trying to process it. Steel Vengeance is the best coaster in the park for sure.
Maverick predictably had some issues but they kept working at it and got it running a little after 9. Station waits and got a few more rides in. Overall a really great day and thanks to Cedar Point for this experience!

Lifetime Laps on Woodstock Express: 0

A great event tonight, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Unfortunately my first ride of the night involved waiting 20 minutes to get off Maverick, but I did get an exit pass to use on a non-SteelVengeance ride this season. It was great to see some of the effects working in the tunnel again.

Loved the new Frontier food options, particularly the brisket with the sidewinder fries. BBQ pizza was good too. I'll definitely be eating in the park more often this year.

Only waited 15-20 minutes for SV, and I'm still trying to find the words. It's just hard to believe they packed all that into one ride. It's a marathon. It's intense but doesn't beat you up. It's like a steel Voyage. CP and RMC knocked it outta the park all the way to Sports Force Park with this one.

Last edited by birdman,

Great way to say it. Reminded me a lot of Voyage but without the headache and body pain. I was out of breath coming back in the station!

Two other things I forgot to mention:

1: Skyhawk is swinging further than it has in years past. No question. My entire family commented on it individually after the ride. It was noticeable.

2: Maverick was launching a bit faster out of the tunnel. Also noticeable but not as much. It was the hard braking after the tunnel that made me really realize it.

Either way, even if I’m wrong, both rides were awesome. But I’m 99% confident about #1 and more than 50% confident about #2. I have hundreds of rides on each for comparison so it wasn’t just beginning of season tingles.
