Parking lot coaster?

Becca should definitely do them, although, they probably won't be as good. :p

You know she probably reads a lot of these threads? Way to hurt her feelings, you insensitive bastard. ;)

Myself, I've always found her work to be highly professional, engrossing, and quite personable. Don't you take any of that guff to heart, Becca.

Tony who? ;)

I have no interest in giving my money to a park that cares so little about my experience. I can ride "Scream" in about 10 different parks. Fail.

While I agree that Scream looks rediculous and is only a so-so coaster (as compared to everything I've ridden), Tatsu, X2, Riddlers Revenge are very good worthwhile coasters. And the rest of their line up is very well rounded too. One coaster does not a make a park bad. If that were the case, there wouldn't be very many good parks out there.

I dont know what becca's goals and aspirations are but if she wants to be in the media she needs to look at criticism and finds ways to improve. Her pieces are decent but they really dont even come close to what T&T did on pretty much every level (presention, content, delivery, humor, tone). If she has no desire to go further in the media world and is just doing it for fun and CP is happy with whats shes doing, then she need not pay attention to anything said.

As for the parking lots, landscaping does improve my overall ride experience. However just because it doesnt have grass under it doesnt mean I skip it or the park.

The fact that Scream has parking spaces under it is exactly why I won't be visiting that park.

So you're not going to visit the "Roller Coaster Capital of the World" because one coaster sits in a parking lot? Riddlers Revenge, Tatsu, X, and Ninja is worth the trip.

Do I always have to add a winkie?

Damn it, Mike...can mine be assumed to sometimes?

:) There.

Actually, I would love to stop by there. That said, would it kill them to at least make an attempt to make it look even 1% better? Some potted plants? A shrubbery?

I tend to believe that putting in a new attraction is not only done to make those who use them happy. You also have some big spending, non-riders who enjoy watching the rides. Take TTD, for example. There are always people sitting in the bleachers. So, I feel, landscaping is very important because it brings more enjoyment to just about everyone.

At a park as proud as Cedar point, I can't imagine them not landscaping in order to present the new coaster in the best possible way they can.

From what I can remember, I have yet to visit a cedar fair park with a parking lot coaster. Their standards are too high for that.

Definitely. The image of a ride is so much more powerful when it also dominates its surroundings, as opposed to looking like it doesn't belong where it was placed.

Not to mention if the beach view is opened up around Gatekeeper, it will bring people over there to check out the ride and the beach, including non-riders. So having good landscape around the ride is important

Something that would be kind of cool is if they put a gate over near the corner of the beach and the parking lot. That would make an additional entrance for preferred parking guests but would also allow guests to walk under the coaster and give them access to the beachfront. Then, if they expanded the beach walkway, guests could walk from that new entrance all the way past the rides and continue on to the hotel. This would allow people access to what made Cedar Point famous in the first place.

They actually used to have an entrance over there back in the ol' days. Check it out --> http://sadpanda.us/images/134885-NAHSZ0Q.jpg

That's not a bad idea, in my opinion, I just wonder if they'd be hesitant of it because of them wanting people to go through the new gate that they so elaborately designed.

I think that a gate there, would give more people a reason to pay the extra cash for preferred parking since some spaces now are further from the gate than some in regular parking.

Wow! Looking at that map, it amazes me as to how many trees there used to be.

Actually, for Six Flags it might kill them.

I'm sure they will add some sod and plant some bushes that will grow out in 10 years or so.

I remember that entrance. It was always flooded with people coming to go straight to the beach. Many would even bring in their coolers.

And maybe even some full grown trees if we get really lucky. ;D (I'm assuming they did that for dinosaurs alive, as I don't remember that area being so heavily wooded)

Neat. I doubt they'd have an issue with the beach crowd nowadays, haha.

Trees were not added for DA. It was that wooded.

Oh wow. I must've been on something when I went through it for Pirate Island then. I honestly don't remember it being so wooded and compressed.

Yeah, moving in full grown trees would have been quite expensive.

It encompasses a larger and somewhat different area than Terror Island did.
