Parking lot coaster?

I dunno, a coaster on the moon would be pretty kick ass.

And it would teach riders who unbuckle their seat belts a pretty good lesson.

Agree. If we ever go back to the moon, we need to have Intamin or B&M ship some track. None of that Vekoma garbage, the moon only accepts high-class coasters.

If Cedar Point's ownership is limited to just the beach, that would mean they could not enforce wading within the roped off area. We would be able to actually go past the roped off area and swim in deeper water. That would be nice, however I think that Ohio has different laws regarding lake property.

Blue people fly sideways when it rains

Actually it seems like Ohio's laws are not much different than Michigan on lake property...

It seems that if Cedar Point ever did build a coaster out into the lake, the state would probably want to charge a "leasing fee".

Why would you want to build a coaster that goes into Lake Erie?

Promoter of fog.

One more thing.....you are forgetting the moron factor. Just as coasters on land have to have a fence to prevent people from walking under low zones, the park would have to close off that section off the lake to keep some moron on a jet ski from being decapitated.

Or some moron trying to fish in a bass boat under a low spot while tied off on a support.

This is very sad, but one more very true thing.

Also they would have to do that for security reasons too.
The red-tape in getting something like that approved would be a total nightmare.

^^ I don't want to build one out into Lake Erie. Titandwedebil posted that idea.

...That would simply depend on where they build. If they extended the coaster from Thunder canyon outward no one could see it from the hotel....

Um... I'm not sure exactly where in the park you have in mind but I think you have your geography of the park a bit mixed up. Thunder canyon is between the over-banked turn after the 1st drop of Millennium Force and Maverick on the Sandusky Bay side of the park (not Lake Erie).

While it might not look like much while riding the train due to all the trees, Thunder canyon takes up a large section of land and there is not any room there to put in another coaster (unless they removed Thunder canyon).

My apologies, I'm not aware of water boundaries.

Same reason you build over any body of water, it's something different and makes for a more unique experience. Based on all the problems associated with building over a lake as opposed to a small enclosed body of water or pond, it doesn't seem like that's going to happen any time soon (especially with the property issues, yikes).

Unique and good aren't mutually inclusive.

Oh give me a break here, it was an impulsive "OMG THAT'D BE SO COOL" idea, sheesh.

It's already been beaten to death so lets just let it die. Next time I ride Maverick I'll just close my eyes and imagine I'm flying over the lake, hitting seagulls as we bank turns and launch through the tunnel.

Or you could just go parasailing.

More reliable than an Intamin ride anyways.

I've been parasailing at Myrtle beach, but I'd love to try it at CP too. I remember Becca posting some pictures online of the park from her position in the air and it was pretty stunning.

The parasailing at CP is pretty spectacular. I highly recommend it.

However, I'm sure if they really wanted, they could utilize the land between Thunder Canyon's water troughs as supports for a coaster.

Sure but they would have to rip out a lot of trees and that ride wouldn't be as fun without the heavy foliage and with a coaster flying overhead

Well right, but I'm just saying it is not impossible to build over there

Sort of like Shoot the Rapids is now only minus the coaster flying overhead?

^Shoot the rapids would be better between hills if it was tucked in some woods, in my opinion

I was looking at Shoot the Rapids the other day and was really surprised that I never noticed how ugly it was. It's really just a barren wasteland of concrete. The Frontier Trail still has a nice wooded feel but that hole StR created is not attractive at all. It's too bad because that's my favourite area of the park and there isn't really much that has the potential to grow and fill the area out in the future.
