"So you're saying that a Neo-Nazi group is the same as Focus on the Family? What? If you really do, you are making my point for me! If you can't see the difference between my hate group example and a company making a charitable contribution, then there's not much else I can do here."
Sure. Why not? Both groups that preach hate against certain minorities. But that wasn’t my point. My point is that for all your talk of intolerance of intolerance you still have groups that YOU are intolerant against. That is fine though, we all have our own lines.
If someone hates me and hates the person I was BORN as, I have every right to say that they are wrong and that what they think is wrong. Just like all the other groups oppressed throughout history.

Of course, at Cedar Point, the employees will probably just be moved somewhere else for the day. ;)

YeeHaw, I think you don't understand the general Christian viewpoint (I'm hesitant to say that, but its about the only thing that makes sense) or just take our discussion about how we view certain issues a little too strongly. I am very much against homosexuality, gay marriage, and such, but I certainly do not hate people who have such lifestyles. Would you say that since I am a Christian and hold that homosexuality and all related matters are wrong that I hate you and am preaching hate? I would hope that you would not automatically jump to that conclusion, because it is most certainly not the right one, but it appears that you do jump to that conclusion without much of a thought.
You see, I can be very outspoken about my position on these issues when I wish to be, but do not for a second mistake my strong defense of my beliefs and convictions for preaching hate. That is a big problem in our society today, we rush so quickly to conclusions. I am not preaching hate when I become outspoken, or at least I hope that I never have or will, because I do not hate people that hold those lifestyles, and I know that there are many like me who hold outspoken opinions but do not hate or preach it (appears there are a few in this thread already). I have at least 5 friends that I know hold an alternative lifestyle that I converse with and spend time with just like I would any of my other friends, and each of them knows my stance on their lifestyles, but it has never brought us into conflict because they know me, and they know that I do not hate or preach hate.
It appears to me that you have a general misconception that just because I (or any other Christian for that matter) disagrees with that lifestyle and hold an outspoken opinion, that we are preaching hate and hate those that live that lifestyle. I can understand that at times a hard-line stance on an issue could be misunderstood as preaching hate, but you have to be able to understand and draw the line on hate and a hard-line stance. I hope that you can begin to understand better that (as far as I've seen) we are simply standing behind our beliefs and convictions very strongly, just as I'm sure you stand behind yours.

But I'm not on any "I hate intolerance" crusade, and, besides, that's not the point I was trying to make. Josh M. had a good example a page or two back:
Josh M. said:
In 2005, many called a group of Christians "intolerant" because they chose to boycott Ford Motor Co, for donating to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance. Now, in 2007, People here are saying that they will boycott Chick-Fil-A at because they donate to Focus on the Family...
Now, I don't agree with either boycott. That's the "line" to which I was referring. But we're past that and it's beside the point. My point is that people who scream the loudest about intolerance often seem to be the same ones who think tolerance only works one way.
I don't see the problem with "boycotting" Ford, Chick-Fil-A, Disney, Abercrombie, Jamba Juice or whatever other company people feel like boycotting - for whatever reason. Who says they have to buy products from them? Its not like they provide services that are critical to life's existence.
Everyone on here has been saying that money is what influences businesses more than anything. So, if companies start losing money because their customers aren't buying from them anymore, they'll change - or go out of business. Chick-Fil-A isn't going to go out of business because I decided not to buy anything from them. But I feel better supporting companies that are either indifferent or support gay causes because I think that will have a greater impact on my life - in a positive way. If my purchasing tells Chick-Fil-A I agree with them, my life could potentially be impacted for the worse.
I know lots of people think that's bogus and I'm not really accomplishing anything. But, oh well. I could say the same about voting. Why bother voting - one person's vote doesn't make a difference, right?
ok...this is fun.

I am very much against homosexuality,
You do realize that this is the same thing as saying "I am very much against black people", right?
Just making sure.
Promoter of fog.
No, it is nowhere near the same thing. I am against homosexuality because I believe it is a perversion of what was originally intended to be. You can argue that homosexuality is something you choose or it is something genetic, and I stand on the side of choice when it comes to homosexuality. There is no possible argument for race to be a choice, none at all. There is the "possibility" that the homosexual lifestyle is flat out wrong and a perversion of what was intended to be. There is no possibility for the race of a person to be "wrong." They are nowhere close to being statements that belong in the same grouping.
**Disclaimer**
In order to save myself a lot of hate mail and IMs saying I'm an insensitive, close-minded person that hates homosexuals and am a raging homophobic I said that there is the "possibility" of it being wrong and a perversion. This is not what I actually believe, but I do not want to deal with hate mail and crap like that. Now, if you still would like to hold the opinion that I hate homosexuals and am a raging homophobic, I encourage you to look back at my previous post on the subject where I mention that I have several friends living an alternative lifestyle. *** Edited 3/31/2007 12:25:11 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

People said the same thing about inter-racial marriage in the 1950's. It was "against god" and "unnatural".
Thank God our nation is finally beginning to see the light on the subject.
I would not argue with you for a millisecond that some people indeed engage in sexual activities by choice, but when speaking of whether one is sexually attracted to someone of the same sex, it is most certainly not a choice at all. Just ask Ted Haggart.
Wow did this thread take a left turn somewhere.
Last time I posted I was talking about how I didn't like Panda Express going into the Frontier Trail.
I sure hope that Panda isnt gay! Or else he wont be entitled to the same legal benefits of all the straight pandas.

Alright, I'm willing to set up a free forum for the discussion of hot topics that come up here on PointBuzz if there is enough interest. I love discussing this stuff with everyone, but I'm guessing Walt isn't too keen on this place turning into a hot-topic discussion board lately. If I receive a flurry of PMs showing interest, I'll set it up and maybe go through the hassle of porting this discussion over to the new board.
For the time being, let's get back to discussing how this affects the park and such related matters instead of our personal beliefs on hot-button topics.

That's an opinion.
And in the interest of saving this discussion from going any further off target, we'll end it here.
