Paint Job

Does anybody think we'll have at least a touch up of paint in some spots for Millennium Force?

Nah. Why touch it up when you can simply repaint the whole thing within a few years?

I say give it a couple more years (maybe 2) and then I can see Millennium getting a new paint job. Plus if they were to paint Millennium, they’d have to start pretty early (factoring in the weather of course) because that's ALLOT of coaster to paint.:)

Well, lets figure out when it should be painted.

2005-1989 = 16 + 2000 = 2016

2016 sounds about right.

So you're basing CP to do a paint job on MF in the same fashion as they did Magnum?

What about Raptor and Mantis getting painted after 7 years?

Raptor 94-01
Mantis 96-03

Millennium Force 00-07??

hmm?

2007:Corkscrew | Magnum XL-200 | Maverick

I think there is a pattern with the tall coasters just because it took them so long to paint Magnum. I'm not bashing CP at all.

^^Raptor & Mantis are much more visible (and colorful) from the midway, as compared to MF and Magnum.

I don't think there's much a specific time period before painting occurs.
When a coaster is in need of paint, I'm fairly certain the answer won't be "well, we have 2 more years before we can paint this bad boy according to the schedule. I guess we'll just have to let it look faded and bad until then..."

Cedar Point spends money on "beautifying" the park?

News to me.

Well then, you should go to the park one day, and check it out for yourself.

All kidding aside, DJ, while the park is certainly "clean" throughout the year, CP gets a D- in terms of making the park "beautiful".

There are STILL leftover "theming" elements from the Pirate Ride just sitting there, years after the ride was removed. Think you can pick that up after a decade Dick?

Disaster Transport's queue is like a garage sale that gets picked over and picked over year after year...to the point of being utterly ridiculous.

Year after year, Halloweekends "theming" elements are left out in the park, which looks tacky. Last year the "boars head" was left out near the Skyride. Nice.

This has been discussed exhaustively, but I'll say it again here:

I would GLADLY go 2-3 years with no new rides and let CP use the money instead on "tidying" the park.

Kinzel is akin to a child is a toy store. While I appreciate his fondness for the new big shiny toys, sometimes he needs to stop, look around, and spend some time cleaning up his room. These things do not go unnoticed to first-time visitors to the point.

I understand that, and was only taking issue with your (obviously sarcastic) assertion that there was no (0, zilch, nada) care taken by CP brass in that area. Yes, it is most certainly lacking, but obviously "they" feel the ROI doesn't warrant such efforts.

That said, I agree with you.

Honestly, I could see them paint MF the way they did Magnum. Over a period of two years the most visable parts of the ride will be painted first (Moly Blue and Battleship Gray of course!) and then the next year you'll see other parts that are reachable by the paint crews painted.

To me, it's not a big deal if the ride looks faded, just as long as it rides well and is fun, which in MF's case is still somewhat true. Plus if they can get a crew similar to 06's crew, they will see me wait (or in their case breifly wait) in line more often during the season.

For Magnum didn't they paint the first hill one year and then the rest the next?

Paint fading and cleanliness have nothing to do with each other.

I think both Intamin and B&M use inferior paint. The paint used on the rides that were repainted looks nice much longer than the original equipment paint does.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Yeah, I was thinking that, too. Those swiss guys really don't use good paint.

The Arrow rides took forever to fade, but the B&M's and IAG's don't seem to look as pretty for as long.

I'm pretty sure Mantis was the worst offender I've seen, though. Intamin paint fades, B&M paint fades and then runs off in streaks.

Who knows..

Why don't they paint part of it some year. Then finish the rest another year. Just paint the part that you can actually clearly see and say, "Oh, it looks like they painted MF. Now I don't have to get an accound on Pointbuzz and complain. YESSSS!"

Favorite Coasters 1.MF 2. TTD 3. Raptor 4. Gemini 5. Magnum
Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

I wonder how long it takes them to powerwash all the bird poop off of Raptor's lift hill every year.

Ew.
