I agree that cleanliness and paint fade are two separate things and trying to equate the cost and feasibility of picking up trash with keeping fresh paint on coasters is just ridiculous.
I'll take a collection of faded coaster and a new one this year, over just having the same coasters with fresh paint and no new coaster any day!
Cedar Point keeps their coasters in very nice condition. Things can't always look like new, but CP in general does an excellent job of painting rides and buildings to make them look nice. I think some of you are being a little too picky and critical.
Does anyone notice how the paint used to repaint a ride is of much higher quality than the paint the manufacturer uses to paint the ride originally. Seems to hold up better with much less fade then the original paint.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
This wouldn't happen if they used vinyl or aluminum siding instead of paint!
Hey, you want to see fade? Check out Mean Streak!
Don't look now, but Maverick is fading! Or is that sinking? I get the two confused.
O.K. now that we are done with the sillyness of this topic why not start a post on how to fix a real problem at the park?
The coaster parts are powdered coated when they come out of the factory and doesn't last very long with the weather conditions that CP has. Also, that's why there's a hand print on the Wicked Twister support near the line. It comes off after a while too. When they repaint a coaster, they use roll-on paint instead of powder coating which requires disassembly of the coaster, heating, etc. As in that Black Widdow coaster, they did the whole process of powder coating again instead of hand painting it.
