Either there were bonus weekends in 1993 or they started construction (footers at least) on Raptor before the season ended. This was before Halloweekends began. My son and I stood by a fence looking at a large board that showed the layout of the ride and the train schematics. We also bought our season passes for 1994 that same day.
And djDaemon, that's my point. CP HAS started work early on coasters that are not "500 ft"
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
Yea, now they hide every thing untill the projects done.
Man I really want august to roll around so we will all know what the heck it is and laugh at the people who were way off.

DeVos for Governor...
I can remember all of Mean Streak's footers being set and in place before the end of the 1990 season.

There's a page from ACE (I think) showing a progression of photos during the construction of Magnum. Can't find it though, someone else might have it.
Goodbye MrScott

I told you all to get over and ride the train! ;)
You never know what could happen in the 20 minute intervals that we run by the construction site.
Any how, we do have two trains running daily, so you can catch the train to go by the construction site every 3-4 minutes at the main station between noon and 8 o'clock. :)
Stop and say hello to the engineer's and firemen, you never know when you might be saying hello to me;)
From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~
Last time I went by the firemen were on break. The fire wasn't burning on the building so they were spraying into the lagoon.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
They started Raptor before the end of the season in 1993. You guys (and gals) have to keep in mind that they started construction on Project 2007 at the end of the season in 2005!!! That's more that TWICE the amount of time to construct a ride. Its not like the started a couple months early, they started a couple YEARS early.
That's only a year and a half before the scheduled opening. Which is long compared to most Cedar Point projects, but not really for projects requiring ride removal (although WWL was demolished pretty quick). Hercules was removed (I think) at the end of 2003 and Hydra didn't open till 2005.
Goodbye MrScott
John
I just think it says a lot when you look at Walt's aerials and see the 2006 project (Skyhawk) still under construction and you see about 30 or more footings already poured for the 2007 attraction.
How many footings did MF have?

I was just looking through the blog entries and remembered this:
"As you visit the park this summer, put “two and two together,” so to speak."
and:
"We’ll wrap things up with a few words of wisdom: The path always taken is not necessarily the best."
I dont know if this has already been said, but, the coaster may have to tracks, and you pick the ride you want to ride.
A bit off topic, but i had to say it ;)

I won't be there until tomorrow. I just have my sources. :) They've only put a couple short supports; ones that look like they'll be for very banked turns.

I'm sure you'll see some pictures before long. It's not much to look at... just the same supports you've already seen that are now positioned vertical, rather than horizontal. ;)
