ONE BIg OVAL??

I never heard anyone complain when I waited in a 1 hour line for Superman: The Escape at Magic Mountain... as for me, I was happy to be going on something new.

I think Cedar Point ralized with Xcellerator that the overbanked turns didn't cause that much more excitement, and it was cheaper and more efficient (faster loading time) to build the ride like it is, a simple up and down. Nice move by CF, they didn't waste any money and they'll make a ton next year. The overbanks aren't needed; I agree with Pete about the overbanks and speed--it's already on the Force. Without the overbanked turns, 16 will be a more unique ride. Gemini said that Magnum and MF are different and that's exactly the point with the new ride.

By the way, I thought S:TE was awesome, and I think 16 will be ten times better.

Sorry about the crappy post the other day Jeff. It's obvious you had a great idea what the ride was from the beginning.

I agree with 'G. It just gets so old that enthusiasts (at least those that post on the Internet) rarely are happy with what something is, and too frequently dwell on what it isn't. It's precisely the reason so many enthusiasts aren't fun at parties.

"The party is good, but I prefer cool ranch Doritos and lite beer, plus music with a slightly faster tempo."

DELETED!

This ride is going to be awesome, that's all there is to it!
I find it irksome how people rip on rides that are going to be aweome, just because it doesn't have something they want. If they added floater hills, overbanks, or ejector hills into the mix, not only would it be similar to MF and Magnum, it would cost tons of money because of its magnitude.

In this case, "slamming" into the brakes might be fun. I guess you don't know how the brakes will work on this ride, because you won't slam into the brakes. You'll smoothly coast to a stop. The deceleration might add a thrill to the ride if it happens quickly.

As Walt said, if they added overbanks, it would be quite similar to MF. People before complained, "Why are they detroning MF!?" Obviously they aren't trying to do so. They are adding one hell of an adrenaline rush from start top finish.

You don't like it? Don't ride it!

Launch: Tophat: Twistage: Brakes...

...Denial is an ugly thing.

I wouldn't rip on this ride, I pretty sure after their finished with this, they be thinking about a good new woodie, or something like it that is long with lots of elements. I was sort dissappointed at first, but now that the tower is complete, this thing HUGE, and I mean HUGE. I'm not disappointed at all any more!
At first I thought this ride would be horrible with just the tophat. But now I think this ride will be excellant, prbably better than Millie! Think about it, this ride will launch to 110-125mph in 2-3 seconds! Then shoot up 420+ feet high(look down at Millie)then zoom down 400+ feet while twistng 270 degrees and slow down smoothly!

I will accept this ride for what it is and I know it is going to be awesome. However I can't believe people are saying that they don't want any more air time hills or overbanked turns! Puh-lease! I have yet to get my fill of air time hills, and overbanked turns are still pretty "new" in my book. I want more of both, a whole lot more. Please don't misunderstand me, I am thrilled we are getting yet another incredible coaster so soon after WT.

Millennium Force Laps-103
**Vertigo Launches-21**
I remember way back in 1999 after Millennium Force's layout was revealed. The first thing I heard from people on these boards complain about was the lack of bunny hops. The smarter ones pointed out that we didn't need another Magnum. Now look at MF, plenty of airtime and it lived up to all the hype. When we get a new ride, that's what we get.

However I can't believe people are saying that they don't want any more air time hills or overbanked turns!

I've ridden Xcelerator. After the top hat, the overbanks are boring. So yes, I don't particularly want more overbanked turns.

Air time hills sure are nice, though, and there's a mighty big one on #16.

I was still disappointed until today. For some reason today, just catching the track start to edge over the top before I left work, it hit me that this will be pretty freakin cool. So I'm pumped now. Guess it took a while to convince myself =)

Totally off-subject: "macho nacho" have anything to do with Mad Caddies?

What's the problem here? This is Cedar Point! Get over it. It will be GREAT :)

Would I be satisfied with L-TH-TW-B? Honestly, no. Sure, it's nice to have another coaster in the park, but the smaller they get (in length and creativity) the less appealing they are to me.

It is absolutely amazing and actually quite funny when I see people complaining about how they dont like a ride NO ONE has been on !!! LOL

Really, how ridiculous is that? I dont think you can judge ANY ride until you have actually been on it. Personally this thing looks amazing. Does that mean I will love it? NO, I wont know until I ride it!

Anyone who gripes about # 16 is a spoiled brat. I live in Alabama and the nearest park to me if SFoGA. We would love to have one hyper. I drove 14 hours to cp last May and it was worth every minute of drive time. I will be back next May to conquer #16. If you are complaining, take a minute and count your blessings,,,,all 16 of them.
Beast, I used the term trend, because there are only 3 (including Australia) coasters in the world over 400 feet, and they are all just up and down. If 16 was more than what it is, it would have broken this trend, rather than continue it. (I understand and support the cost issue for CP)

Pete and Orange, I just dont get your logic. If 16 shouldnt have overbanked turns and bunny hills because CP already has MF, then one could argue CP doesnt need number 16 cause they already have WT (twisting drop coaster), or they dont need a floorless because they already have Raptor.

Come on - all we are talking about is extending the ride time - something I thought most enthusiasts would agree with - longer ride time is better.

The ride isnt longer (unfortunatly), but you guys make it sound like you would prefer and are glad CP decided to end the ride, or create a new element rather than duplicate some elemnt already on an existing CP coaster, giving us a longer ride experience.

Tom

I agree Tom. Talk about the ultimate rush and then pulling the plug. Yes, who needs more overbanked turns or bunny hops, but would any of you complain if this coaster went into another top hat or two? I'm looking for the overall experience and not just one element.

Its really not all that much shorter than some of the other rides. Its much longer than Wicked Twister. Its gotta have at least 2000' of track, including launch, up and over, down, breaks and turn around. I think its pretty creative. "Lets mix the twisting on WT, the top hat from xcelerator, and the shear height of 400'". It isn't a copy of anything, just parts from other rides. What B&M out there has an element not seen on other rides (not including the pretzel loop on the flyer but hey they are duplicating those fast)

You know, there ARE other coasters in the park with the elements some of you are whining about. CP is giving us different experiences. Why does it matter if you don't get all the elements on ALL of their coasters?

Even so, with all of the whining, I'd place a bet that every single one of you will be in line for this baby next season.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

I have ridden Superman, at Magic Mountain. I waited for over an hour because they only had one side operating. It was cool, but I don't think I would wait that long to ride it again. I sort of feel the same way about this ride. The experience will be great, but after my first ride, I dont see myself riding it again if the line is long.

By the way, I spent most of my time at Magic Mountain waiting for X, which is one of the most incredable rides ever (just after M.F.).

Also, CP sees this ride as bringing in the crowds. The media blitx will be about the height, speed and the launch. No one will ever know the dteails about the entire ride until they get there and the comapny already has your money then. Bragging rights is what this business is all about. That brings in the crowds and the cash.
