man, i want a black helicopter.OMG, i bet jeff was trying to tell us that there's going to be a new helicopter themed ride installed in 2007 as well. :)
You're thinking of the Italian Job coasters at PKI, PKD and PCW. :)

Can anyone make any factual generalizations as to when Intamin uses box/skeleton track versus triangular track?
It just depends on how much space there will be between supports, and how much force will be exerted in that space.
And if you don't know your track...

I always thought the diffrent types of track were used in diffrent places because it looks good.... Like if MF's giant camel backs were 3 tube it'd look pretty dumb...

Well im glad Jeff's track spotting guide finally came in handy when I saw the tarp on Saturday....
Heres my predictions:

At least some of the track will be red.

Wow, I am just learning about this track being actually taped and pictured. WOW.... This is very exciting to watch for the next, what, 5 or 6 months? Or until they announce it. I think this is going to be some kind of looper because CP's last looper was 10 years ago being Mantis.
Does Intamin make inverted coasters?
There's an inverted Intamin at Cedar Point... kind of. And yes, they do:

then name the coaster then. Cause only coaster that is inverted at cp is raptor and that is done by B&M.

Like I stated though--kind of. While it fits the definition of an inverted coaster, it contains no inversions, which goes against the norm. Wicked Twister is beside the point in this thread though.
I would rather have a looper then an Auqatrax. They seem like it would be funner, and you wouldn't have to comit yourself to getting wet.
However, how is it Cedar Fair have been building B&Ms alot lately, and now they are going back to Intamin. *** Edited 5/11/2006 9:59:11 PM UTC by Keith 2005***
In terms of marketability, I think it'd be easier with an Aquatrax as well. Although it's been a while since Cedar Point has installed a looping coaster, it's not unique to the park or general area. An Aquatrax would be. Advertisement and general awareness would be greater for an Aquatrax in my opinion, despite our "enthusiast" desires.

Outside the obvious evidence, such as it being an Intamin and the location, Jeff has made comments that lead me to believe it's an Aquatrax ride of some sort. First, his comment from a Podcast a while back, stating he believed it was (paraphrasing) "one of the best decisions the park has made in a while." Secondly, his comment that enthusiasts might be disappointed with it. This last comment might not seem valid, that is, until you read any one of the threads in this place concerning the '07 project and realize how desperate some people are for a record-breaking thrill ride, as illogical as it might seem at this point.I don't believe Jeff would agree with the park's decision if they were building a flyer or a 4-D or another gimmicky thrill ride to appeal to people like us. At first I thought they were building a simple B&M ride similar in size to Raptor (due to its popularity and reliability), but that's obviously out the window. My next logical thought is a family coaster, and as a figure of speech, putting "two and two together" could equal putting a coaster and a water experience together.
I don't think a simple looper is out of the question, but why would any of us be disappointed with an Intamin looper? Personally, I would be excited to see an Aquatrax, but it's obvious that many people on this board just can't accept Cedar Point catering to families, and will continue to ignore evidence supporting such until the very end.
The more and more I think about it, the more and more I think your right. Remember the blog and how one day they said that they had some "huge news" for us? I remember quite a few people thought it was a early announcement for 2006, but it ended up being reduced ticket prices.
This could be the same turn out. They created this huge wave of curiosity, when it probably isn't gonna be something majorly exciting (at least to us).
Edited For Clarity.

Besides volcano, Intamin has built 2 other traditional style inverted coasters. (both have a lift hill and no launch)

According to RCDB all three of those coasters (volcano and the 2 mentioned above) are suspended. The former being Suspended Catapult and the latter being Suspended Looping.
Not sure what the difference is. The trains on both seem rigidly attached to the track.
Something like Volcano could be in the works. It's not that exciting.
I was watching TV the other night and I saw a CP commercial with "Ride On Snoopy, Snoopy Ride On" music, and it showed an animated Snoopy Riding CP rides...... However, I found it unusual when he was riding one kiddy ride, and one ride like Raptor that were definitely NOT CP rides? I know nothing and this is just what I saw so I figured I would join and tell all of you..... Anyone else see it? Or anyone know anything about it?
Havent seen it but it could be a generic comercial for all cedar fair parks using stock footage from random parks. Then they could just change the logos to fit the locality to save cash.

Just a question..... I hear everyone complaining about reliability of Intamins and how they "hope its not another Intamin because the last three have been unpredictable" but I would like to know if you would rather have an unpredictable WT, or MF, or TTD, or none at all? I love them all and I think they're all great choices, and whatever is in store for us for 2007 will be great (unless its an aquatrax... gross)
