NEWS FLASH!!!! Track and supports sighted

On MF cedar point didn't use intamin for the tallest points on MF they used a company that specializes in the tall tellephone towers. Why would they use intamin for a 400 ft tall section and not on a 300ft section. I don t think it will be 400 ft.

well, if this is a rocket coaster with a tophat (or another similar element), telephone tower supports wouldn't be very effective or feasible, if you think about the design.

Yea....i noticed, These supports are larger in diameter then regular intamin supports...like the ones use on Xcellerator.

Maybe they came up with a new idea in how to install high supports.
Did they really use another company to build the lift hill on MF? I don't ever recall reading anything about that.
Finally, (we'll try this again) we'll be painting Mantis this offseason, normal colors. Why change those awesome colors?

Anyone who has made a post with the phrase "I don't think" should consider thinking twice. I know that when rumors started surfacing about CP building a new ride for 2003, the first thing I said was "I don't think Cedar Point will build major rides 2 years in a row." And I was very wrong. Cedar Point means business.

I've heard enough to know that CP will be building a ride over 420 feet tall. It won't be exactly 420, after all, it is a family park, they wouldn't want anyone talking about how "high" it is. The ride will likely cost over $30 million, there is simply no way that a ride 35% bigger than MF will cost less to build than MF did. Those of you who are concerned about the cost, let it be known: Cedar Fair has hoards of cash, they could build major rides every year, but they have to please the shareholders.

As previously mentioned, the technology to build a 400 footer is available, and CP jumped on that a long time ago when they signed a contract with Intamin. Yes, a contract, whoever said there aren't roller coaster contracts, what do you think they do, write a check for $25 million and shake hands? CP is very focused on being the FIRST to attain certain benchmarks. They're building a 420+ footer to have the first coaster over 400 feet. Remember, CP doesn't consider S:TE to be a roller coaster.

I can't wait to see what it's going to be!

I always Knew that it was going to be a coaster...from the day i saw those footers...I know for a fact ( i said this many times).. Flat rides or buildings use foundations and not footers...The only thing that would use footers is a roller coaster...as far as i know. Judging by the size of those footers, i knew it was going to be big.

Mantis has the Same exact colors as of the Nitro is SFgadv...I think they should keep those sexy colors. :)

Nitro: Spine: Yellow / Supports: Blue / Rails/Ties: Hot Pink

Mantis: Spine: Yellow / Supports: Purple / Top Of Spine+Ties: Red

Not nearly the same.

The 2001 Cedar Fair annual report lists $2.3M in cash and another 4M or so in accounts receivable. This is hardly a pile of cash! In fact, it is surprisingly low for a company of CF's size. They have lots of assets, but they are highly illiquid (the parks & the land). CF clearly has to fund all ride development with major debt. They are unlikely to build more than one major attraction per year until their debt is paid down, which I'm sure doesn't happen much faster than they accumulate it.

CP fan since 68.

You don't build several tons of weight worth of track on top of telephone towers...Intamin designed and built them like every other part of the structure.

Billennium Force...the reason MF cost so much was because of its huge layout, massive support structures, and site preparation such as moving the Giant Wheel and the Petting Farm building. This ride isn't going to have a traditional lift or a long layout. The large supports will be limited, and the amount of track will be less. Even though it will be taller, there is almost no way it will cost more than MF.

No one said that there are no coaster contracts...just that there are no multi-coaster contracts. It would be foolish for a park to enter a contract that they may not want to complete.

The statement cash balance is not necessarily the most illuminating figure to examine, since FUN is a limited partnership rather than a straight corporation. The distinguishing feature of a limited partnership is that the earnings are generally not subject to corporate income tax, and are instead distributed directly to shareholders (after a small excise tax), and taxed as ordinary income (mostly). This tends to keep excess cash from building on the balance sheet. There is a good description of the setup in the following (somewhat dated) motley fool article comparing Six Flags and Cedar Fair as investment opportunities. One notable quote from that article:

Cedar Point, on the other hand, is truly cash-flow positive. Last year, the company generated $114 million in operating cash flow and still had net positive cash flow after spending a company record $93.5 million on new rides, including Millennium Force.

Disclaimer: I am not currently an investor in either FUN or PKS, but am considering the former.

I would like everyone to visit this site and read the news on how a half pipe coaster is in the making. What the hell is a half pipe coaster, well I have no clue. Sorry about the link Jeff but I need to let the world know.

http://www.webautor.ch/intamin/i_news.asp

A half pipe coaster (I would assume) is similar to Arrow Dynamic's fish hook, which the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has been trying to get rights to build for a while now. Go to www.coasterbuzz.com and search for it if you want more info.

The half-pipe coaster is Intamin's answer to Vekoma's Hammerhead Stall. It is a U-shaped ride with two cars that rotate and feature back to back seating. I believe a video was posted here (or at Cbuzz) not too long ago.
hahaha! I have an uncle working on this, and information has been TIGHT, but what has leaked is H U G E! I don't wanna post it though...you know I don't wanna get him in trouble, but this will blow your mind

Well,it seems the trolls are out in force on this post now. Might be time to say goodbye to it...

Oh well, let kristina have her glory that she knows. Because it doesn't really make a difference who knows what when because we will all know at a time, and people like this will say "I knew all along" but since they could never tell, there would be no point in knowing. Frankly, I would rather not know and speculate, its just something to do and it would be more fun.

...and when it turns out to be a restaurant, we can all point and laugh at Kristina.
