NEWS FLASH!!!! Track and supports sighted

I believe someone asked earlier if there was a name on the side of the trailer that's in area 51. Today, most of the wall on the side between Paddlewheel and Chaos was gone, providing an almost unobstructed view of eveything in Area 51. The side of the trailer said Jenetta & (I can't remember the second name). Below the name it said Monreville, Ohio.

Also, there are some night work lights set up in there, the kind they use for highway construction. There are also more of those steel beams set up.

Who finally met the infamous Magnum Dan!

The name on the trailer is probably the local construction company subcontracted to do the work.
Janotta & Herner, Inc., design/build contractors from Monroeville, Ohio. Their website is at http://www.janottaherner.com/

I know hgihly think it will be over 400ft. And Metalhead 777, was Magnum dethroned less than 4 months after it opened? Millennium Force was. I think they're building this one just to set the record straight for at least a couple of years. Also, with CP being able to affors this stuff, in which most parks can't, that serves as a big advantage for CP. Get what I'm saying?

Ok, so a 400+ footer isn't "wham-bam" enough for you?

I was saying save the 400ft height for a wham-bam.

Hey I guarantee a rocket coaster that is bigger than Superman: The Escape. I have asked many workers, and the ones that told me anything said that it will be the biggest in the world. I also guarantee that it will not be a racing/dueling coaster. Next time I go ill try to find out about the colors of the ride.
It'll be 410' because CP doesn't want any question as to whether or not it is the tallest coaster in the world. Sure, Joe Cleveland doesn't care, right now, if there is a 400' ride in California, but I will say this. It is a great marketing tool. They can say they have the most roller coasters in the world, and the tallest coaster in the world. Sure, they don't compete with MM directly (aside from the enthusiast crowd), but the average person who enjoys a ride or two would have a reason to be excited to visit CP if they have the tallest & most coaster(s) in the world.

MF certainly worked, and there was a dispute in that case.

You have any idea what kind of national coverage this thing would get? I live in Chicago, and we heard about 'X' for crying out loud. A few AP articles have been put into the Tribune about CP.

With a huuuuge ride, CP can solidify itself as a resort & legitimate vacation destination for those too old for Disney (and, maybe in another way, too YOUNG for Disney as well). CP has hotels, and they need to keep them jammed.

Well whatever it is, I passed three trucks unloading behind the Mean Streak this morning around 11 AM. One was unloading more yellow supports. The other 2 were waiting on the sides of perimeter road. The sides of the trucks were enclosed so I couldn't see what else they had, but I don't think they had tops, the crane was reaching right in.
SFmm is getting a new Coaster for 2003...I think there is some competition with cedar point. I think six flags just wants a new coaster to do just that and compete with cedar point...SFmm just got 2 new coasters.

But i am glad that SFGadv is getting a new coaster for 2003...after all it is my home park and i still enjoy going there very much. i love cedar point alot more though.

OOOO...new Track....Anybody got new pics of this new track and supports??.

Your right, I don't!

The stuff that arrived today is the same as the stuff that was already there. Now we just have a bigger pile. No need for 10 more sites with pics. The only thing different is some larger tan supports arrived today. They have the same flat top as the smaller ones. Does anyone remember how many truckloads of stuff MF got? I would really like to know.

Umm, there'd still be controvery - isn't S:TE 415' tall? That's the stat given on RCDB. I'm assuming it's accurate. I think this is why the 420 number keeps popping up.

S: TE may be 415' tall, but that's the whole structure. The cars only reach a height of about 330' before going back down. SFMM hasn't had the nerve to let that part of it become known.
To have the record undisputed, it would have to be taller than the whole structure, so like Lord Gonchar said, I think that's why 420 keeps popping up too.

June 28th: LocoBazooka Tour (Sevendust headlining)
July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

This appears as part of a press release on the Cedar Fair web site - http://www.cedarfair.com/public/news/story.cfm?id=125 :

"The Partnership also said it plans to build another major new thrill ride at Cedar Point for the 2003 season. Parts of the new ride have begun to arrive at the park and construction is scheduled to begin after Labor Day. A formal announcement with further details on the ride will be made by the park at a later date."

Geez, so I guess they might actually really be building something ...
