NEWS FLASH!!!! Track and supports sighted

Is a little bit of speculation really that harmful? Waiting is no fun, so is it so wrong to just have a little fun guessing?

This is going to be the ugliest coaster ever!

yellow & tan supports

red and white and blue track

I don't even what to think about the train colors!

CP_Bound... you might also consider that they spent $40million in the year 2000. Including MF which coast $25mil. Perhaps if they scaled back on all their improvements last year there is much more in the pot then all of us think.

So that means you're not even going to think about riding it, right? They are using colors for the ride that they haven't used, in a combination never used before...what do you want? Several rides with the same color scheme?

[edit]Petree, you posted as I was posting...And **gasp** I'm using the edit function instead of making a whole new post!:)

I think that 2000 won't be topped (capital improvement-wise) for several years to come. They could possibly have more in the bank for next year, but just like every year, they spend money on general improvements.

Also, with rumors that MIA (possible hyper) and VF (clone of WT) all getting coasters, Cedar Fair is hitting the competition hard this year. There will be less money for just Cedar Point to expand so this is another reason why I believe they will only spend 16-20 million on the ride.

Where did this blue track come from and where is it
I'd assume it came from Intamin's manufacturing plant. :) It hasn't arrived yet...have patience.

I believe we'll be seeing red and yellow dominating 'dragster'. Those colors are awesome, leave them alone! :-)

As of right now...the colors are fine...but if blue comes into the picture....Then we have an ugly lookin ride. Red and yellow (Not Tan) and white look pretty good.

There are short tan supports most likely for the station[s] and/or launch strip because they are about 3-4 feet tall. I think when people see this thing tower 100 feet above MF, the colors won't seem to matter anymore...

I don't believe the 420 foot tall rumor at all. I think it will be tall, but not that tall. 250-275 is much more likely IMO. I don't see why CP would want to dethrone the king (MF) after only 3 years on the throne. They let Magnum rule the skyline for 11 years, I'm sure MF will get more than 3 years as king. That's just my 2 cents though. I think, the reason there is red and white track, maybe, just maybe, they want to give SFWOA a big kick in the butt with 2 new coasters. A 250+ foot tall Xcellerator type ride, and a sit down looper? Maybe they signed a 4 coaster contract with Intamin. If Cedar Point had a sit down looper, maybe 200 feet tall with 10 or more inversions? They could be the first park with FIVE over 200 feet, and they could break another record, with the coaster with the most inversions, since it's obvious right now that CP needs more inversions. Ya never know, just a thought, lol. Maybe they're spending 18 million on the rocket coaster and 13 million on the looper? Then with WT's 9 million, it would match 2000's 40 million... I know, far fetched, but hey, it would be nice wouldn't it?
I don't think that there really is an issue with "dethroning" MF. Millennium Force will always be Millennium Force - the same great ride - regardless of whatever else the park may build. If the new ride is indeed as tall as it is rumored to be, I am sure that just as many people will be interested in riding MF as there were before.

I doubt that the park is really concerned with maintaining a ride's "royalty" status. If you can go bigger and the cost is still economical, why not do it? It will just further assert the park's reputation as the Roller Coaster Capital of the World.

There is no tuch thing as coaster contracts with parks. Besides, Intamin has TONS of rides in the park besides MF, WT, and Dragster. (Demon Drop, AR/DT to name a few)

How come everyone is so set on it being over 400 ft tall? I would be perfectly happy with a 200+ footer. If Xcelerator is as Xtreme as everyone says it is, wouldn't a 400 footer be a bit of an overkill?
Intamin put in the jr gemini also...
PlayerPunk89, speculation within reason is fine, but outlandish predictions that spark wild rumors are just noise.

CPcyclone, perhaps that's because no one "in the know" was quick to dismiss such ride attributes... Why go for only 200 feet when you can use the same technology to go 400 feet? They already have 2 200 footers, a 300 footer, why not have a 400 footer? If it makes economical business sense, then why not?

The technology of coasters has advanced so rapidly in the past few years that the height record can be broken easily. Not building a 400 footer while the technology readily available seems like it would be a folly on the part of the park.

But it could also be good for the park to save it for later down the road when they really need a "wham-bam..."

------------------
"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

Ok, so a 400+ footer isn't "wham-bam" enough for you?
Unless, Of course, Another park does it first.....

------------------
OMG! The Space Spiral is leaning!!" Must be the weight of that new air conditioning system everyone keeps hypothesizing about...

To add to what MrCoaster siad...

A 215 foot impulse follow by a 400 foot launched coaster isn't enough of a "wham-bam" or "1, 2 Punch?" They are hitting the competition hard.

You can even go farther than that; think about the last two ride additions and the rumored 2003 coaster:

310ft monster, 215ft impulse, ¿400ft+? launched...

This could easily be considered a knock-out! ;)
