so they could be going with a B&M style track

Has anyone considered 2 of these coaster? They are by intamin and Intamin has probably never built 2 of them a once...
The possibilty of another rocket coaster are there. The smaller versions have proven to be reliable and just as popular as the large problemsome strata-coasters. Storm Runner comes to my mind right away, but it's still way to unclear. In a way, CP would be crazy to build another launch coaster by Intamin.

What possible motivation could they have to build another rocket coaster when they can't keep the one they have operating?

I never wanted to put that idea out there because I knew people would fire back with "but all the small ones run just fine!"
Which I agree, but that doesn't mean this entire conversation has gotten completely ludacris. Is anyone SERIOUSLY considering that they are going to put in another rocket coaster? Right after TTD?
I have friends that think Wicked Twister is too much like TTD. What would a lot of people have to say if it actually WAS the same ride style? It's a waste of marketing and a waste of possibility for a very large part of the park.
Dick Kinzel has a better chance of sprouting wings and learning to fly than he does of building another rocket coaster.
i can't imagine them building another launched coaster. that would make the last three coasters all launched. but, then again, they have 14 "lift hill" coasters, so who knows. :)

Now THAT would be "amazing and unprecedented".

When the sign says "Get ready for some serious sidwinging" could it have anything to do with this.
Sidewinder - a sidewinder starts like the first half of a traditional vertical loop. When the train is near the loop's apex it will be inverted and heading back in the direction it entered. Rather than completing the loop in the traditional way, the train rolls on its axis becoming right-side-up while simultaneously turning away from the loop. The result is the train exiting the maneuver almost nearly 90° to the right or left of direction it was entered. This is a very similar element to the Immelman. In the case of the Immelmann the after apex turn is not as sharp and the maneuver is exited lower and nearly in the direction it was entered.

Um, isn't that just half a cobra roll?

Beware the Kraken
Hi All! New to posting, but have been interested in this mystery ride. Sad to see WWL go away, after all - where will they store the giant talking skull for Halloweekends? (It was actually under the ride for a while). I guess I'll put in my two cents.
First off, I was thrilled to be at the opening of a brand new coaster on May 11th. While there is nothing tall or fast about Shamu Express, for the small kids and their parents, it might as well have been MF for them. This is billed as an experience that parents and children can share. Exciting for the kids, and fun for the parents that get to enjoy a "First Coaster" experience together. I sometimes think attractions like Jr. Gemini and Woodstock Express are overlooked by big coaster lovers. I hardly expect a large mountain of Jr. Rides but hope we aren't too critical of lower intensity rides just becasue they might offer an alternative experience.
I had heard a rumor a few years ago concerning the area of land next to WWL. This was the Inverted Vekoma Jr. Flyer rumor where riders and spectators would squirt and bomb water at each other. It seemed to make sense in that area. This blended into a B&M flyer water attraction and then the MaXair rumors started swinging. Could this be a grown up version of that idea? I'm sure I don't know. I do think that great attractions are born from creativity and boldness. I think of how glad I am that the footers for Magnum didn't turn out to be a 10 looper, or that Raptor wasn't a 260 foot Arrow hypercoaster. I don't think I'm too off the mark by saying that every coaster aside from MF ("Similar" experience to Magnum - and that is not bad in any way) has provided a unique type of experience when it was built. I think many attractions built for park ego are the ones that fade the fastest.
If we really boil down to it, 5 years from now I hope to visit CP and be surrounded by mobs of families, groups, teens, college kids, and even retired patrons who can all get something out of one of the best parks on the planet. I hope this attraction will help fulfill that goal. And who knows, in 5 years maybe it will be in the shadow of a different titan. Thank goodness there are good people at good parks who really do care about the guests - all of them (especially the coaster buffs!). You won't find me on Shamu Express, but I know some people who won't forget the fun they had on it for a lifetime. Let the speculation.... Ride On!

Beware the Kraken
It was just an idea. From what I have heard there are not nearly as many problems with the small ones. But if Jeff says no, then we know thats a no. Just thought that a two launch coasters launching at the same time would be kinda cool. Also doesn't CP develop plans years in advance? Isn't it possible they were starting the development phase before they had all the problems with dragster? But at least we now know it isn't a launch coaster....
As well, just because it uses a launch system doesn't mean it would be exactly like dragster. Thats why I used the example that I did, it uses a launch but other than that there are only 2 things it has in common with dragster, 1- Its an Intamin, 2- It is launched... I guess I just proved everyone's point by saying that those would be the 2 reasons they wouldn't do that.... *** Edited 5/14/2006 4:52:38 AM UTC by Aaron_toledo***
If they were to build an rocket coaster I would expect to see no tophat and some inversions and low to the ground turns and hills.

I want a launch coaster like Speed Monster. That ride looks really cool. But maybe Cedar Point can top that with more inversions and height.

What possible motivation did they have for theming Dragster when they can't keep up with the theming for Disaster Transport?
I still want to know what possible motivation did they have for painting Iron Dragon similar colors as that lemon of a coaster right next to it?

Maybe Walt could start a thread entitled "Complaints about decisions CP executives have made, and the impact they have on park operations".
Back on topic.....I wonder how long it will be before we get a nice aerial shot of all the footers once they are in place and ready to be built upon.
