News: 2007 Season Passes on sale September 22

Even besides all this parking pass crap I am still ticked off. This year and for the last few years prior my $85-$90 pass also got me in the gates of the other core Cedar Fair parks and I took advantage of that many times. I always used it at MiAdv and even used it at Dorney Park. Now for the same money (even a little more) I only get CP?!? What another load of something smelly.

This is my problem as well.

When I still lived with my parents, I had a Dorney season pass for a few years. I always thought it was really neat that the season pass at Dorney worked at all of the other CF parks....but I never got to use it outside of PA. When I moved out of the house, I stopped going to Dorney (Hershey is just as far now, and I like that park better.)

Next year we are planning to go to CP for a week, which means that we will need a season pass. Here I was planning to go and buy a season pass at Dorney, use it for the week at CP, and then go to Dorney again instead of Hershey.

I'll still buy the CP pass for my week in Ohio, but looks like Hershey will be getting the $$ on all of those little impulse purchases I make during the day...which I make a lot of.

I hope my story made sense. To make a long story short, CF is losing money from me that would have been an easy deal.

It's always time for a Cedar Point road trip!

I'm going to Knott's in March, so I'd need to get my 07 Maxx pass there.

If you have a 2006 season pass for Cedar Point or one of the other CF parks, it should still be valid at Knotts until May 2007. I went to Knotts in January 2006, and I had this exact problem. I called Cedar Point, and they explained the above to me. I was able to use my CP 2005 season pass. There was no problem when I went, other having to go to guest services to get a ticket with the season pass.

The only caveat is, I don't know if the transition to the Max passes will change anything. I would call the Point or e-mail them to find out.

I don't have an 06 seaon pass. I only made it to the Point twice in 06, and I used the resort discount. So, a season pass didn't make sense.

Had I known it was good in March at Knott's I would've considered it. bah.

Passes are valid until 3/31 of the next year. It says that on the back of your pass. The very reason they expire on 3/31 of the next year rather than the end of the season this year (or even the end of the calendar year) is because of Knotts' year round operation.

Kirk, are you serious?

Man, if you hadn't told us that I don't know what I'd have done to figure it out. I maybe coulda possibly sorta kinda read 2 posts up and seen that...maybe.

Hey, Loopy. Season passes are valid until 3/31 of next year.

Actually, I think kirk was correcting me. I said in my post that it expired May 2007, when he rightly pointed out that the season pass reads that it is good until 3/31. He was right, and I was wrong. ;)

Loopy, when someone posts an intelligent response to a legitimate question (both rarities on quite a few online communities) I think the last thing you need to do is criticize someone for it. Seriously, what is stuck up your ass?

I'm a long-time member of a popular fansite for our friendly new CF park to the south and there's just not a problem there with members that criticize others and think they're all 'high and mighty'
It's oh so enjoyable there, too. It's just too damned bad there's not a Cedar Point fansite that's member base isn't full of assholes.

Ensign, you were mistaken becuase they USED to expire in May. It used to be the previous season's pass was good until the day before opening day. With all the park purchases, I can understand the earlier times. But a question, if I purchase a CP07 MAXX pass, and want to go to Knott's on April 1, how do I get it processed? This is assuming I don't have a picture on file that can be sent.

^^ - glad you've shown us the quality of that community with language like that. I can't wait to join.

^ - if you know you're going to Knotts why not just get your MaxxPass there? Its the same price and my understanding is that all of the MaxxPasses will be linked next year, i.e. no going through Guest Relations to get into the parks.

I thought I remembered the lady on the phone at CP telling me it was valid until May. But I've been proven wrong (gleefully, sometimes ;) ) often enough here that I figured it was another brain fart on my part. But my trip to KBF was this year, which means the lady had to have given me outdated information.

I think it was a few years ago that seasonal park passes went until 4/30, but were recently changed to 3/31---I think because WoF's season starts in April, not May.

A little more information on the Maxx Passes...

I bought my pass at Kings Island yesterday. They are taking data and taking photographs, but they are NOT issuing passes at this time. Instead they are issuing paper substitute cards, with a barcode and a signature. Apparently in the spring we have to return to the park to scan the temporary pass and have the real one printed.

For the moment, at least, the Kings Island Maxx Pass has the parking pass included in the barcode, which is scanned at the parking entrance.

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

Wow - imagine that, scanning parking with a barcode at the toll booth. Wonder why CP can't do that?

Maybe because Kinzel is a disciple of the Unibomber's manifesto aginst technology? :)

-Tambo

Yeah, that's why he commissioned Millenium Force, Wicked Twister, Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick. He hates technology. I know, I saw the smiley emoticon. Here's mine: ;)

And that is the reason that I will be buying a kings island season maxx pass, and not a cp maxx pass this year. The parking pass sealed the deal for me.

They want to take my parking pass deal away.....screw em, Ill buy my pass somewhere that wants to give me a deal on parking.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

If they're going to force us to have the window stickers, they should at least have a "Parking Pass Only" booth, so we're not waiting in line for people that have to pay.

JuggaLotus's avatar

They won't do that. It wouldn't make sense to have an booth scarcely being used when you have a couple thousand cars waiting to get in.

Goodbye MrScott

crazy horse, you have to have a 2006 PKI season pass to get the 2007 free parking. If you do, I'd do the same, if not, I was just clarifying it for you and anyone else that may have been mistaken.
