New this year

So... you're suggesting it costs a million dollars to demolish/dismantle 3 major structures and build a marquee ride? What the hell are you smoking? Skyhawk itself cost $6 million, and the largest "structure" they needed to dismantle was a set of lockers. Seriously - get some perspective.

Brandon

Seriously djdaemon, I would rather see them flush $1 large down the toilet on that rather then some stupid ass lights that will most likely not be maintained.

You guys keep forgetting CP neglects things until it is painfully obvious to even blind people that things need to change........

Since you run a demolition company, how about you throw me an estimate to demolish Aquatic Stadium, DT, and move Demon Drop?

Thou Shalt Not Touch Demon Drop!
And as for maintenance on the light show, I hope this one is different. After all, they're saying that it will change with the seasons. So they're planning to do some modifications, which should lead to some maintenance.

Couldn't put it better myself CP rush. Also you gotta enjoy him already ripping apart the light show when nobody has seen it or have been through it. I think he is still upset that they are adding a non-ride attraction walk through show instead of pleasing ride enthusiasts. Personally I think this may look and be very nice.

I still see rather long lines for DT. It is not a great ride but it is a family pleaser.

I'm going out to get some air.

Kevinj, for you to wait 20 minutes or less, GREAT MAN. You obviously go when 99% of the public doesn't go or something. But for the rest of the world here who has waited at least 20 minutes per ride for the last 5 years its a gigantic waste of time. I appreciate Disney, Universal, Six Flag...well screw it...THEIR ENTIRE COMPETITION has some sort of express or fast or easy pass system....as well as billboard announcements.

I wasn't saying that in a bragging tone, I'm just being honest. And yes, we strategically plan our visits to hit what one would expect to be lesser crowds, but even on busy days we simply move on to another ride if, for example, SkyHawk has a 45 minutes wait...it's pretty simple, but it does come from experience with the park.

Promoter of fog.

That's great, but the point is that the majority of guests visit during peak times. In other words, there will be times when the park is busy. As such, a wait time display system would be beneficial.

They've managed to go 138 years without wait time display system. There are at least half a dozen things they could improve before thinking about that.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but Raptor's queues are getting misters and also the ride is supposed to be back to an on-ride photo this year.

Exciting stuff, I know.

^ That's good news, because I think the whole on ride video thing was probably a disaster. I'm sure they made a lot more money off the pictures.

I suspect this just means they will have different programs/cycles it can run. They said roughly the same thing about the LEDs on the new cable bridge in Toledo, and all it ended up meaning was that they can make the light show "season appropriate." Such as green on St. Patrick's day, red white and blue on July 4th, etc.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Yeah, that idea sounds reasonable, well thought-out and productive. Your ideas are truly revelutionary, to say the least. You should consider submitting your resume to P&D.

I know that I am looking forward to being back to the point! After my trip to Kings Island and getting back to coater riding, I am excited that coaster season is fast approaching. To me I will be happy to be there.

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

I wish they would fix all of the mister fans in all the lines. Most do not work and on 100 degree July days those come in handy.

I'd agree that they need to be fixed as well. Maybe they will in at least Magnum's line if they decide to fix it up a little for its 20th.

How the he** do you know anything about this show?! You haven't seen the freaking thing and you say it's a waste of money! How do you know? How do any of you know?! You don't, so stop pretending you do. You sound like a kid who's desperately trying to prove something with very little to go off of.
Get off the maintenance issue cause it's getting old and repetitive. Think of something else to ramble on about instead of the same thing over and over. It's starting to sound like a broken recorder. If maintenance or whoever doesn't keep up on it, so be it! Get over it!

You're are some of the few people who complain about every darn light bulb being out in a given trip. Things happen, bulbs burn out.....most likely daily. They don't have an army of bulb wielding jet pack electricians waiting for a cue to change a burnt out bulb on the Giant Wheel. They have bigger things to worry about than a few bulbs that only you care about.

Cedar Point thinks of something different and new and you bash it just because it blocks your favorite photo spot of some flowers or something. If you don't like what they're doing and think this is truly something a family with younger children won't enjoy, then by all means stop them before they continue to "waste" even more million of dollars. I mean how dare they not think of just your needs. It's a crime I know.

So here's my advice. If you don't like this new investment and think they should have built a new ride instead just avoid Frontier Trail and go through Frontier Town to get to Maverick or Skyhawk. Don't complain about CP's "lack" of family atmosphere then turn around and spit on an idea that is focused on enhancing the family atmosphere.

You're not getting a new ride so get over it!

And don't take this the personally factory. It's not totally directed at you. You just broadened my reasons to rant so it applies to anyone who uses these lame excuses. All I'm really saying is wait to pass judgment to something you've never seen for yourself.
And now that I've blown some steam, I feel a bit better.

The irony, TTD120, is that he will keep shelling out his money to CP and Cedar Fair, despite the rambilngs....helping to pay for our new light show.

No no no... He's helping to pay for things that CP isn't actually planning to do, which makes total sense.

Amen, TTD!

Yup, he's paying for that 500ft coaster that crosses the park and dips/loops under Lake Erie. ;)
