i think a better comparison would be a tricycle and a F1 race car.

Other than that, they are exactly the same underneath. Or one could say similar even though they are considered different classes of automobile. One luxury, one not.

That's my point, Windseeker and Space Spiral are not of the same type. Windseeker and Wave Swinger are different classes of the same type, Windseeker and Space Spiral are not the same type of ride in spite of the fact that they both go up a tower. Your automobile comparison just illustrates how different Windseeker and Space Spiral are.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

If Windseeker is an F1 race car, what is TTD?

I wouldn't exactly call wave swinger a giant tower; but, ok. I stand corrected, after I stood corrected, before I stood corrected before that. One giant spinning tower thing is drastically different and worlds apart from the other giant tower spinning thing. Got it.

Shame, shame. Your not playing the comparing. Windseeker isn't called F1.

Dude, you make a lot of noise. If you could stop, that would be great. Thanks.

Jeff asked nicely. I will tone it down for now. A lot of you may not like some of my perspectives; but, I also know I gave a lot more people food for thought. Don't worry, I will still be lurking in the shadows waiting for the perfect opportunity to insert my insightful words of wisdom when the forum gets just a little too boring or someone gets too full of themselves. That said, you are all just a little bit smarter because you have been blessed by the appearance of ...... ThePointGuru!!!

It appears you're also delusional.

^make it stay open a little past park closing time, and I'm fully onboard.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

I thought I'd bring this topic back. I don't know if anyone read Screamscape lately, but they are reporting a rumored dark ride for 2014. This would be cool, but does anyone think it would be good idea to throw a combo in there? Maybe throw the dark ride in there a long with a new observation tower? I think that would be a good combination without breaking the bank too much.
I think this would look fantastic at Cedar Point!

Dark Rides at other parks can cost over $100 million so it depends how much detail they want to put into theming... I cant see them doing 2 major attractions in one year if one of them is a dark ride.... As far as dark rides go, I can see something like Transformers or Spiderman being the best (and cheapest) option... most of what you are looking at is a projection screen and not much animatronics...

While it's a virtual guarantee that CP wouldn't spend that kind of money on a dark ride, I can't see even a mediocre dark ride allowing enough leftover budget for another attraction in the same year.

To say nothing of the fact that two rides targeting the same audience in one year would be a bonehead business decision.

Oh. Thank you guys! Guess I wasn't thinking on that note. Makes me wonder where Lance from Screamscape heard this rumor then? Sounds like to me then that Cedar Point will just go with something small for 2014. Not sure how much Observation towers cost, but shouldn't be too much compared to Windseeker right?

Unless you mean strictly a motion simulator, I don't think you can consider a dark ride and an observation tower catering to the same audience. Space spiral attracted those of ALL ages. Dark rides do not.

That's never been my observation. Seems to me people of all ages are queued up for them regularly. On top of that, parents and kids can ride together, just as they can on an observation tower.
