TRADITIONAL COASTERS!! READ THE POST! CF'S top traditional coaster since the year 2000 has been Millenium Force at 310'! Cedar Fair has built 2 other traditional giga coasters (Intimidator 305/Leviathan), but neither surpassing MF's height of 310'!! To make it simple to the people who cannot comprehend my posts properly, Cedar Fair has only built one coaster to top MF in TTD! TTD is a STRATA COASTER and NOT a TRADITIONAL coaster! All I was saying is if Cf was gonna build another traditional style coaster taller than Mf, you would think they'd build it at Cedar Point and not at one of their sister parks!
Ok, so Cedar Point has had the tallest coaster based on your specific definition of what a "traditional" coaster is (even thought Millennium is neither wood nor chain lift driven)

...with MF being the tallest at 310', Leviathan at 306' and Intimidator-305 coming in at 305'. I'm just surprised that CF would build a coaster taller than MF without a launch! I'm also surprised that they're giving up on the height barrier reign, with the Polocoaster set to debut in 2016 at 500'+.
Who cares? They have a business to run, focusing on the height of profits for the share holders, not coasters.

They're building that coaster where it makes the most business sense.

TTD isn't traditional. But technically neither is Millennium. It is considered a Giga Coaster and the train is pulled to the top with a cable similar to how an elevator works. So that makes Magnum the tallest traditional coaster although again it is technically considered a Hyper Coaster, so next that leaves... And the list goes on and on ;) Traditional is a very broad term. What defines a traditional coaster?
Anyway, back on topic, are they putting up and teaser posters like they did for Gatekeeper? If not I think it's safe to say we aren't getting a roller coaster. But possibly a flat ride in place of PR building and a new Point Pavillion is my new guess. With Meanstreak being King James and a Mantis renovation, still a standup but a name and color change to Rougarou.
Wow 310', 306', 305'. Lol just something Ive noticed about CF and how they build their coasters, all being shorter than MF. This being a discussion thread on 2015 for CP, I was just pointing out that I saw Carowinds was building their Giga coaster taller than MF at 325'. I was just trying to spark convo on a stalling thread! All you damn keyboard warriors decide to go all crazy on me for simply discussing a point Ive noticed.. From a business point of view, yes CF will add attractions appropriately, but there is not one person here that knows anything but quarterly net revenues for Cedar Fair! All we know about CF is what they let go public and nothing else! CF will make business decisions, but they also take pride in the tradition and history of their parks! Hate to say it, but IMO Cedar Point is old news and I'm drawn to seek the new attractions being built everywhere else! I grew up going to Cedar Point and what I love about them is how they were always the park that set the standard for the industry with innovation and statistics!
Who cares about height, as long as it's something fun that I enjoy riding alot that's good enough for me

wow - I'm agreeing with Dj here? If you have not noticed there is a new CEO and this one doesn't dump all the best and biggest at CP anymore. Matt has done a geat job bringing CP back to life, but Carrowinds deserves something new and I'm sure Matt sees it as making the most business sense. Heck, I see Carrowinds as being the new HQ and premier park - but what do I know.
We don't know ****! We all know nothing! How can speculate a business move by a company that we know nothing about besides what is made public? We don't know what CF park has the most financial overhead, maintenance, debt, etc etc! Only CF knows which park is bringing in the revenue and which park has the attendance that it should! Like I said they will make business moves on behalf of all their parks including Cedar Point! And believe it or not fans, park owners and most coaster enthusiasts do care about how high/fast each coaster is! Back to 2015... Im just saying don't be surprised if The Point does something unexpected for next year. It's all a race in the business to build the biggest, fastest, most unique and innovative thrills year to year to keep everybody's interest! A lot of parks including the smaller ones have been flexing their muscles recently with major attractions and are really making some noise in the biz.
It's all a race in the business to build the biggest, fastest,
Not since Dick retired.
Well, really not since before Dick retired, he was just a little slow in realizing it.

Then by all means, go frequent those parks, and their fans' communities.
As for this community's reaction to your posts, it may have as much to do with your disregard for clearly communicating (paragraphs are a thing, just so you know) as it does your over-the-top enthusiasm for arbitrary statistics.
...what I love about them is how they were always the park that set the standard for the industry with innovation and statistics!
And now they're a park with a mature coaster lineup that sets the standard for being well-run.

Dude wow man it's all just internet fun man! Haha I didn't realize that I was writing a letter to the Dean of Admissions while posting on Pointbuzz lol! I will consider using proper outline while posting to POINTBUZZ lol! Yo I'm just letting you know that it would be of your best interest to avoid starting beef online with anybody that you don't know! I love CP but all I'm saying is that I wanna try the New!

Weird how CP has been doing so well these last 9 years without the tallest coaster. It's almost as if it doesn't matter! ;)
By that logic I guess CP doesn't need a dark ride, family ride, etc as lots of people on this site want since the park has been doing so well. I guess it doesn't matter.
Dark ride yes..Family ride, there's plenty, and I'm sure they'll keep increasing over the next few years.

You're comparing an arbitrary ride measurement to the complete lack of a ride category. That doesn't make any sense.
Brandon
The park will add what they feel is necessary or what is missing. Right now there isn't a lack of coasters, so I don't see a new one coming for a few more years. Last year, the park thought there was a lack of family rides, so they added PS and LEE. I think a dark ride or a flat thrill ride is likely for 2015.

I would not mind seeing a 500 foot coaster with a layout like Millennium Force, but I know it's probably never going to happen. I will say Maverick changed my entire perspective on coasters. It's only 105' and it's still my favorite coaster to ride.
Well the Dictionary describes a roller coaster as a ride at an amusement park which is like a small, open train with tracks that are high off the ground and that have sharp curves and steep hills. I have never run into anyone who would not describe TTD as a roller coaster.

Actually, it's all a race to identify market segments and how to best entice them to a park. Some years, that's an innovative or record-breaking coaster. Some years, that's an upgraded area of the park to appeal to families with young children.

I am with you there, I think that it will be a more thrilling dark ride, though, like Dinosaur at DAK or The Mummy at USO. Hopefully nothing like the Guardian at Canada's Wonderland. That just looked boring and unfinished. I bet we are also going to get a new paint job for Mantis, Mean Streak/King James transformation, and Rougarou (could be anything). But I also sense a long term plan which will eventually refurbish other rides and areas of the park, like SRF.
