My bet is the new ride won't be a coaster. I think the biggest clue is that it's for teenagers and thrill seekers. The fact that it's for teenagers I think indicates the height requirement will be 52 or 54 inches.
Looking online I think a large Huss ride like the Sledgehammer at Canada's wonderland is a possibility. I know that ride has had mechanical problems but it was the first of its kind. It's different than other thrill rides at CP and appears to provide pretty good thrills.
^ Interesting you bring up Rob. I remember Brian Edwards saying something interesting at the Pointbuzz off-season tour 2013 along the line of Rob now receiving his next big challenge. I doubt that was the Gemini midway.
I do find it interesting that Tony was at Canada's Wonderland recently "checking things out". Could have been this/ Guardian or something else. Who knows? I've heard about the maintenance issues also but would probably ride a Sledgehammer type ride. I have a hard time believing that CP would "banish" a new ride behind Midway Market though.
Seems more like a place for a track turnaround or dark ride back there. We still don't know what the markings are for.
*I did hear almost 18 months ago (March 2013)about a POSSIBLE Blue Streak midway refurb for 2015 but I know things change, especially inside the park AFTER Labor Day/ or off-season), so time usually tells after they make an official announcement. (with tearing down, etc.)
I'll still stick with my original coaster idea extending to the Bay (and over the Marina Road) but will be thrilled even with a dark ride or something else. I love the speculation and hype! It's what makes this forum fun.
There was an interesting exchange on Twitter today. May want to check out Jason McClure's feed.
After looking at the area he posted a picture from, unless they fill the lagoon in around that area there is not a lot of room for anything. Then again, it sure as heck looks like a swampy location to me. Perhaps it will become the home of the Rougarou. Maybe Jason was just strolling behind Woodstock express and decided he'd take a picture for no reason...
I won't lie, I didn't read the whole thread, but I wonder...
With the Rougarou trademark filing, Coaster Campout being called "Camp Rou" and then the screamsters showing up in the middle of the night... are we looking at a Halloweekends attraction?
If not Halloweekends, that seems like something that would be dark and/or spooky.

I have very little doubt the name of whatever is coming will be Rougarou; I'm not sure how that can really be denied given what's been tossed out. After all, the name is legendary.

That said, the question is what sort of ride (er, "thrill" ride) makes sense based on what "Rougarou" is, or means...(there seems to be more than one interpretation, although it's certainly some type of creature)?
Lol, is this suppose to be some spin off from Banshee with having the theme of the ride being evil-spirited??

I didn't pick the name, Cedar Point did. I suggest asking Tony.
And no, Cedar Fair has never trademarked the name of a haunt. One mysterious thing is that no one has mentioned any markings in the one part of the park that has a swamp feel to it. Maybe the dinos will be saying goodbye and Rougarou will be on the island. Whatever it is, I would expect a "spooky" vibe to it.
Promoter of fog.
Well, there is one possibility that needs to at least be tossed out there. If there is any shred of plausibility to Mantis being repainted (and potentially reworked), it is sitting on a plot of land that looks a little swampy to me.
Like it or not, it's possible. (that Mantis 2.0 = Rougarou)
