What did Doughnut Time offer that Starbuck's won't?
Crappy regular coffee, and horrendously, embarrassingly bad espresso-based drinks.
They're definitely overpriced even outside the park, but provided this location can come close to matching Starbucks' typical quality, it will be a huge improvement, at least as far as coffee is concerned.
Also, most Starbucks do offer various baked goods, as well as breakfast and lunch items.

I was under the impression that Donut-Time's regular coffee WAS Starbucks since at least 2006? Or were those "Proud to Serve Starbuck's Coffee" signs just for decoration?
They served Starbucks-branded coffee, but it was poorly prepared and served by some of the most incompetent employees in the park, at least in my experience.
The Wife and I went there 4 or 5 times over the last few years, and it was reliably awful every time. It wasn't really a surprise that the espresso drinks were awful, but I would have expected their coffee to be not terrible.
I don't know if making it a full-fledged Starbucks will solve the employee issue (or maybe I just had bad timing or luck), but at least now they'll have the equipment to make a proper espresso drink.

There's Starbucks and there's fake Starbucks, like what you find at a lot of hotels and yes, Donut Time.
When a lessee at a place like Cedar Point is a well known national brand you can bet they won't put a product out that doesnt meet their company's standards. I've noticed at CP that other places like Panda, Fridays, and the chicken that shall not be named have a mix of their own employees and CP seasonal hires as well. And I bet in a lot of cases the CP kids do thing's like man the register, clean, stock, stuff like that. A regular company person will at least oversee food production and quality.
Those of you that are afraid your coffee and pastries won't be up to snuff can rest assured. If the the sign says Starbucks it's gonna be just that.

I would love to know how many of you actually craved Donut Time. Not because it was the only "breakfast" option at the front of the park, but because you really enjoyed the food and coffee.
Well, I enjoyed the donuts and cinnamon rolls, but I also like Starbucks drinks and food. Overall, I think its a win, Starbucks has a better selection than Donut Time did.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I don't recall ever having a beer inside the park. (I'm not counting the many that were chugged in the parking lot during the college days) Maybe I need to put that on the bucket list for 2014. These days it always seems like a nice idea, but I instead find myself chugging water to stay hydrated while chasing around the kiddos. Things sure have changed here on Walton's mountain.....LOL

I almost 100% sure that I had Great Lakes in the park last summer. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's available in the outdoor bar by Luminosity.
Hope your right. I looked for it last year but couldn't find it but never thought about the Luminosity bar.
Now if they would get some decent beer on tap at bubbles...life would be perfect
