2014 Map is up on the site! I know the map isn't an accurate portrayal of the park but regardless, Sling Shot looks huge.
The text on the website still describes it as the 2013 map, in case someone in charge is tracking this thread.
The screens on Pipescream look nice, and Monster looks like a brand new ride. The Gemini midway is shaping up to be one of the most beautiful areas of the park.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I can't wait to see it at night. Especially with the new blue light package on Monster.

Dunno how I feel about Monster repaint..Doesn't seem very Monster-ish to me :P. But I'm happy to see an old ride of mine get some love. They do need to paint the control box though. Nice bright vivid color. Still black controls haha. That sucked too, sucker got hot on some days.

Just looked at the webcam. Looks like Pipe Scream's structure will be lit from within. Looks kinda neat lighting up the screening around the support structure.

Awesome! Much better than the run down look before the make-over. Not just another stretch of midway in the park, but has it's own theme or identity.
And the string lights are up.
:)
5 years ago, those never would have made the final version from the artistic rendering.

Personally I'm not sold on the string lights yet but that'll likely change once I see them in person. :)
I agree, it's incredible how different things feel already in the space of just these few years versus so much of the tail end of the Kinzel era.
I have to admit that the screens do actually look nice, despite my initial stance. Especially how they're lit at night.
My only visual point of reference had been KI's Surf Dog, on which the screens make it look like a low quality mobile ride at a traveling carnival.
The way Pipe Scream is integrated into the area is very well done by comparison.
The only thing I don't love is that the poles that facilitate the string lights make it impossible to plant any trees along the midway.
Brandon
That is true, although the area is already going to be about 10 degrees cooler with the asphalt gone.
If I had to choose between trees and string lights, I'm going with string lights. :)
That said, it would have been nice to add a few planters in the middle of the path and plant a tree in each one. I've always loved that look down a midway.

Don't get me wrong - I'm absolutely nit-picking about what is otherwise an amazing transformation. :)
Brandon
It's nice that we're at a point with the area where we're nit-picking and still pleased overall with an amazing transformation.
I'm looking forward to not recognizing it whatsoever.

We are pretty much known for being nit-pickers around here. I don't see it as a bad thing.
On a side note, I'm not saying we always know best or have the best ideas, but its nice to finally see some of the things we have talked about for years finally happening. Asphalt gone on Gemini Midway, hotel upgrades, employee housing, DT's obstruction of the beach area...and I'm sure there are plenty more!
