New for 2014

Pipe Scream definitely was down a decent bit, both on Media Day and Sunday. I actually didn't make it on that one yet.

OK - I'm intrigued. I've read nothing on the forums or on Cedar Point's site about a new "tavern". Assume it is in Frontierland? What's up with this? Craft beer lover here. Would LOVE new options.

It's where the toy shop used to be, in the area to the left, right when you come out of the Millennium tunnel. It's basically a wine/craft beer cafe with small tables and a saloon-ish bar.

Also, it has really cool chandeliers.

Neat! Surprised they put something like that so close to Red Garter, and funny how it's not mentioned anywhere. Thanks for the info!

They didn't have a menu or anything posted, so I don't know if there will be food. would be nice to have classy bar-style snacks, like cheese & crackers, sausages & mustard, etc.

I didn't know Cedar Point had a Frontierland.

I stand corrected - Frontier Town / Frontier Trail. :-)

I don't think Trail Tavern was open over the weekend.

We visited the park from Sunday evening until today around noon, and Pipe Scream was down the entire time, at least every time we walked past it.

Wilderness Run looked great, and the revamped Lolly Swing (my daughter's previous favorite ride)...now dubbed "Charlie Brown's Wind-up" looks nice in Camp Snoopy as well, and it's a nice touch that they moved Frog Hopper (now "Air Mail") there as well. Camp Snoopy also got some much needed shades added to the theater where the kids meet the characters and dance.

I realize most of you probably won't notice the Camp Snoopy changes this year, but it was nice to see it getting some love.

The lack of Pipe Scream was disappointing, but the good news is that both of my girls (2 and 6) have a new favorite ride that they can BOTH ride; the Eagles. It was a walk on 4 days in a row, and thank God for that, as any type of line for this could easily get a little ridiculous, as most anyone over the age of 6 wants his/her own Eagle to fly.

If you're wondering, the bare area is already sprouting grass around the Eagles; it's going to be 100% grass according to the operator we spoke to. It goes without saying that the new midway is impressive, and I can't wait to watch this level of detail and attention spread throughout the park over the coming years.

I don't want to get to "trip reporty" here, but man, aside from today, what a beautiful 3 days at the park. Dragster and Millennium were complete walk-ons, with Maverick being the only ride we used Parent-Swap for. Everything new for 2014 was a move in the right direction (aside from Iron Dragon). :)

I'd be interested in the lineup in Frontier Trail. That place got a bit of TLC this year which was nice, the new additions to the Petting Zoo were pretty cool. Watched a little baby goat or something (think it was a goat) like bulldoze into this guys leg and almost knock em over it was pretty amusing. They were in the area with the pigs you could enter.

Speaking of beers btw, Chickies & Petes, they have a few good beers. I was excited to see Fat Tire as a selection, I enjoyed one of those with my food. Also their bartender was an excellent pick. I am glad we snagged him from a SIX park up north, their loss, our great gain.

The best deal for beer is walking out by Dave's in the marina store and buying a 6 pack at the marina store for the cost of one beer in the park... Just take some friends with you :)

The marina store is one of the great things about docking at CP. I don't know of another marina in the area that has a store with boat supplies, light groceries, beer & wine and clothing all within walking distance of your boat. It really is a nice convenience to have.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Or the camp store by Lighthouse Point. They have beer and camping supplies - which go hand in hand I might add.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up in this thread yet, but I am hoping the park plans to add a decent modern soak city waterside such as a tornado or pro-bowl slide. Most other parks have one. Dragster H2o is nothing compared to those IMO.

Where are they going to put it?

I'd love to see a water coaster. After experiencing them at GWL, Kalahari, and Holiday World, it'd be a great addition.

^^For anything serious to get installed at Soak City, I think there would have to be some major remodeling done. Take some of the old stuff out and replace it with more modern attractions. And definitely approach those areas with a more modern design. Something akin to the way they designed the newer "Raging River Refreshments" stand. It has a nice simple design with a pleasing color pallet that really works in a water park.

Now, I don't actually have a problem with Soak City, but it would be neat to see some new attractions complete with an updated image.

My Brother and i went to the park on opening weekend this year and we both loved the little changes here and there in the park. It’s the little things that really bring up the overall quality of the park (the new coke stand before frontier trail, the new restaurant with crab fries, and new touches made on the gemini midway). One of the things that got us both excited was the return of the theme music to both millennium force and wicked twister. Overall a great day!

Millennium has had it's theme music running consistently. I didn't even know WT had theme music. I would like to see the audio on TTD Ready To Go fixed!
