New for 2014

Please forgive me if this has been mentioned already. I was at work when this was announced. From the looks of the rendering, are they removing the smaller rides by Jr. Gemini along with the games area? Looks like they are keeping the Basketball game, but moving that over by Lake Erie Eagles. Also what kind of restaurant is going in? That's a great idea to have that in that area of the park. Right now as it stands, the only choice of food is the French Fries over by Woodstock Express. This gives guests more options in the park. I'm excited for the additions of Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles. This will give families more rides to ride and give the kids something to look forward to instead of having to wait a year until they grow taller for some other rides. Great Job Cedar Point!

Sounds like you got it all. You know as much as we do about the restaurant at this point.

Tony has confirmed via Twitter that 2 of the kiddie circle rides in front of Jr. Gemini will be removed, as well as the Bumper Boats. Hope that clears things up a little for you.

I live it and they are both going to be great additions to the park, but I have one question.
Why is Pipe Screener not a roller coaster? It is essentially Wicked Teister track layout so it not being a complete circuit is no excuse. It is a car that travels along a track with speed and hills. Am I missing some requirement for it to be a coaster?

You're missing gravity for the most part. The Zamperla Disk'O family of rides use a powered ride vehicle which propels the unit along it's tracks (this is not the same as launched section of track).

If you count powered kiddie coasters as genuine roller coasters, then you might be the type to count Pipe Scream as a coaster. But I'd be the first to laugh at you. ;)

Regardless, no one "promised" you anything...

In hindsight, I can see that I used the wrong word when trying to make a point, as I'm well aware that nobody really promises anything without saying the word promise, but you all knew what I was getting at - despite jumping on me about it anyways. They put out information that lead to misconceptions being made. It's unfortunate that it happened and the whole point of my post was to to agree with their decision to stay dark for now to prevent any more misconceptions from being formed. Didn't mean to upset soo many people...eesh

Now, don't go messing with Skippy's sense of entitlement....

Is it not natural for a paying customer to express disappointment in an end product if it didn't meet their expectations? Not sure why this would make anyone entitled. I'm not demanding anything, merely lamenting.

The only reason you are disappointed is because its not what you were hoping for. This happens almost every year so get used to it.

Okay, thanks Rihard2000

Actually, I didn't. It sounded like you were complaining that artist renderings (AKA "cartoons") include things that don't end up in the final product.

Glad to hear that we all misunderstood your position.

They put out information that lead to misconceptions being made.

Only in the same way that an artist's rendering of a concept vehicle may disappoint an ignorant few who don't understand that final products have to exist in reality.

Even people who count powered kiddies don't count Discos. At least, none that I'm aware of.

If you are disappointed in the 2014 changes...

With the Breakers rework already announced, don't hold your breath for much more in 2015 at CP, it looks like Carowinds is getting a lot of the capital $$$.

Michigan Adventure is getting a version of the Eagles ride. For that matter, Six Flags America is getting one too - so expect them to be as common as Windseekers are - very soon.

Actually, I tend to assume that people making posts are saying exactly what they mean to say. So no, I didn't know what you were getting at. I knew what you posted.

They didn't put "information" leading to "misconceptions," they put out an artist's rendering.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Lots of things sometimes don't match the final product. It happens! Would you rather have some things not match or not getting anything at all?

SteveH, Michigan's Adventure already has the "Eagle" ride. It opened for the 2013 season as "Lakeside Gliders".

Yeah, Carowinds is getting $50 million over the next three years. But remember that Ohio is already getting $100 million over the next three. Granted King's Island's coaster and the hotels are taking a major portion of it.

Windseekers still aren't that common....

Did anyone else notice that Yogurt Plus said good morning to Tony on his twitter account yesterday? Could that be a clue into the new "restuarant" on the Gemini Midway for next year?

That's a lot of money allocated for 2015 already, with all the current debt, I doubt there will be that much more new in 2015.
Windseeker and Eagle like rides are pretty common in CF and SF parks. And the skater ride is popular with a lot of the shopping mall parking lot sort of carnivals - albeit in a smaller version.

You do realize that there's already a Yogurt Plus at CP, right? It's next to the Coke Freestyle shop in the GateKeeper plaza.

Oops, I guess my post is irrelevant then, sorry.

I thought it was said before that the $100 million for Ohio parks does NOT include the cost of renovating Breakers and the dorms. I could be wrong.

I like the new additions and updates to the area. The Flying Eagles type ride was my favorite flat ride at Geauga Lake when I was a kid. I will miss the bumper boats though. My son loved them when he was a little guy and my grandson loves them now. I wish they would just rebuild it somewhere else. The spinny rides won't be missed, they hardly ever ran. I am also glad that Jr. Gemini is staying, my kids loved it and so does my grandson now. Hopefully it will be repainted and look nice and new for 2014.

Paul

The Pipe Runner is Surf Dog like at KI, fun ride....will be fun having an Eagle ride back, miss them at KI
