Head not hand. I'll blame autocorrect. :-) I looked up the Shiny Happy Monster on YouTube. That made my day. And digging the Dungeon Master Avatar.
This is my first year at CP and my major thought was how locked away I felt from the beach. I felt like a sad puppy in a cage while in the Wicked Twister and Gatekeeper queues. I was like "I wanna go play!"
So I'm really hoping that a boardwalk is coming. It is nice to have a nice well rounded park.
I think removing the Extreme Sports Stadium would really round out that area. If you go by what management has said and the pattern they've taken the last few years, it it definitely a possibility it could be removed.

Although a bit of an eyesore, the Extreme Sports Stadium does house a major show. Unless the park has plans to build another stadium in another location, I would be a bit surprised to see it go.
I don't understand why Skeleton Crew isn't housed in the stadium during Halloweekends. That way, the stage could be used for Edge of Madness or a Halloween themed Luminosity.
I think that is obvious there will be a new family coaster like a wildcat. The colors of those "people" match the colors on the drawing of the wildcat at that other park with fonzie in it. Anybody agree?
Plus, do you think the blurred pic with the green tan and blue is satalite of parimiter road?
I like the idea of a family coaster, but I would like it even more if it were on a boardwalk!
"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." -Walt Disney
^^^I was thinking that too. Some kind of family coaster for sure. Like a new Wildcat coaster (it did start on that side of the park if this is adjacent to the beach) or a Coast Rider type coaster. It could happen. That and some Boardwalk games, a few smaller flats (hopefully gliders). I could see this.
I'm thinking with those lights and the way the people look, Boardwalk. But that Camper Village/Lighthouse Point picture has be wondering...
I find it funny that what is considered a 'Family Coaster' today, would have been a record breaking scream machine years ago. We are so used to seeing 200', 300', 400' tall rides, that many consider Gemini a tame family coaster. The first time I saw it in person, I was scared SH*TLESS, of course, I was only 7 in 1978.
I think a boardwalk is looking more and more likely. In 2011 they built Windseeker on the beach and 2014 Gatekeeper on the beach. To complete this all they have to do is take down the stadium and connect the two new areas with a boardwalk.
To solve the stadium problem, tear down Pirate ride and put one there. That would help draw attention to the Blue Streak area.
That is how they could kill two birds with one stone.
I agree with the first half of your post, but not the second. I don't think the stadium would look good at all next to Blue Streak, or even fit. I could see one being built where the Cedar Dorms are once they develop that area. It'll be nice to see what Cedar Point could do with an entire brand new area so they could really make the stadium nice.

At this point, I'm pretty well convinced it won't be a ride. And actually, I'm OK with that. Reasons:
-Someone with more time and interest than me was able to put that first teaser picture and lay it over the map until they realized it lined up with a chunk of Lighthouse Point.
-Lighthouse Point, if you haven't noticed, is among the better set up *family* accommodations. And based on my stay there opening weekend, they have a lot to work on. I had mice and a water leak in my cabin/glorified trailer home and seriously debated taking up another hobby by the time I left.
-Changing the cabins and redoing them would meet the "Extreme Makeover" hint with decoration/construction. A new waterfront area could be added in and the pool redone also to, you know, give access to "stuff" for those in the cabins and give people reason elsewhere in the resort to stop in other than curiosity/the appeal of sitting in one of the chairs out on that pier.
-We already know that Cedar Point is going to spend a ton on accommodations, which is probably a good thing because what they have is barely passable in this day and age. Meanwhile, that dark ride alluded to in the stock holder meeting? Going to Canada's Wonderland, which is quietly becoming a focus park for the chain. It has just as many coasters as Cedar Point, has a higher attendance, and they still manage to charge people above the value of their season passes for the Halloween event. Plus, there was a whole lot of silence that I heard from people who would otherwise know things, and that makes sense now if there isn't anything being added ride wise.
Maybe there's some small children's rides added on or they'll refresh something (is there a *good* reason they haven't better combined the Dinosaurs Alive area with Camp Snoopy?) but I think the bulk of the announcement is a new Lighthouse Point that doesn't suck. And yay for that.
^
-Lighthouse Point may be a part of the hotel announcements, but I think this announcement is different. It looks a lot like Knott's Boardwalk.
As for a *good* reason that Camp Snoopy and Dinos Alive haven't been combined. Well, they were designed to be separate attractions and one is subcontracted. There is a fee for Dinosaurs Alive because Dinosaurs Unearthed splits profits of the attraction with CP (seeing as they supply it). You merge them together and then visitors would either have to pay to get into Camp Snoopy or get into Dinosaurs Alive Free. One way, you get a lot of complaints. The other way, the park loses money.
What little that's been passed down that resembles the Knott's area is a few grainy pixels of cartoon "popcorn" string lights. Nothing about that guarantees me new rides. It could just as easily be outdoor seating at a restaurant or pool, given how many contemporary public spaces have them if they have patio seating. The biggest thing driving that it is definitely rides is the desire for more rides by fans, IMO.
As for what I said about DA/Camp Snoopy, if they moved the turnstile/entrance for the Dinos back, god, 20 feet, they might be able to open up the space between the Balloon Race and lagoon to a usable pathway. As is right now, Camp Snoopy dumps back onto the main midway when it could transition into animatronic dinosaurs.
I am going to guess with KBF getting a family oriented boardwalk in 2013, CP will see one in 2014. Here I even changed the wording on KBF's website to apply to CP:
"NEW FAMILY ATTRACTIONS AT CEDAR POINT
Cedar Point Announces New Additions for 2014
Cedar Point has opened new family attractions in the theme park’s Boardwalk section. This includes three attractions designed for families. The area has further enhanced the feeling of strolling down a colorful Lakeside Boardwalk fun zone filled with amusements, games, and fun food offerings."
The Boardwalk idea is very appealing. A campground redo with this hype and youtube auditions I would consider anticlimactic.
I would think it would be something more than renovations.
Upside-down Fun House

Renovations are already included in their previous resort announcement so that is not what they are announcing. Plus why would a family announce that, it's kind of boring. On top of that, why would they tease us so much for renovations?
