Why can’t they invent some kind of metal detector at the front gate that, instead of detecting metal, detects idiots!?:)
-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut
They wouldn't want to do that, the park would be empty.
They already have those detectors though, they're called admissions employees. I was only there 6 weekends yet I can spot an idiot from a mile away. :)

If a person has a stupid sign, the rideop knows, they can't enter because...well...they're stupid. :)
Your-Moms-Gotta-Mullet, there's an edit button for the sole purpose of adding something you forgot or making mistakes. It's annoying to read to post from the same person right in a row.

Wow I just noticed that the webcam for Skyhawk is gone! They must be starting their work on giving the camera a new permanent spot for the summer of 2006. Hopefully since they're doing this we'll see movement during this week of Skyhawk. On Skyride, looks like the landscaping crew is already planting for the year.
The cam is still updating. They may have removed the link from the site though before taking down the cam, but it is still going.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Yeah, my active desktop is still updating. They have a couple of boom lifts working away on the ride.

The Skyhawk webcam is down, as you know. It’s being replaced with a high-quality cam. Should be up by the end of the week.
Does this mean that the original cam was lower-quality than, say, the midway cam? Or, are they going to install a legitimately high-quality webcam for Skyhawk?

The only time I've noticed problems with the skyhawk cam is in the morning when the sun is straight on. But that has more to do with the housing the cam is in and light refraction than with the cam being low quality. I wonder if they are just replacing it with a higher-durability model that will be able to withstand the elements a little better.
Goodbye MrScott
John
The housing is what is important. If it lets water or condensation on the camera's, then it wil fail eventually. Maybe the new housing will have a built in heater so the optics won't fog or form condensation.
You mean like the maXair cam last year? That leaked after about a week of being out there.
Goodbye MrScott
John
I do remember that huge fog spot. It was like that well into the season as I recall.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
No rumors, it's a fact. Bidding will start April 12.
I honestly couldn't tell you what has happened to the cameras since I'm not the one who installs or maintains them. Electronics simply don't last long when they get water on their traces. The optics are a different story. It really doesn't matter if they get condensation on them except they block the view of the camera.
They did say something about replacing the camera completely with something better and then relocating to a better view of Skyhawk. It's like what you said ForgottenEE, the camera could have gone through a lot, but then acting up off and on. What I want to know is why they haven't posted more pictures since the cam is down.
There's probably not too much to show us. The ride is built, concrete poured, queues installed and so forth. All that's left is the relatively boring landscaping as far as construction goes. Of course, once testing begins, we'll be able to watch again.
From the OnPoint! blog:
Jonathan, as stated in a previous entry, we are upgrading the Skyhawk camera. It will be live again once it is set, focused and connected properly. We'll let you know once it's up. And no, it's not facing something else!
