Does anybody know what the wood structure behind Skyhawks line is? It looks like a fence to me (the third pic on the top)
That wood is probably for the fence that will go in front of Skyhawk like how the artist put it. If you notice in the artist rendering, there is like a little lawn and a fence in front of skyhawk. Another guess I have is that it could be for WWL former site. The big wall that we'll see in 2006.
That's not just wood laying around. There is a wood frame (it appears) on the right side of this picture. Something is going to be built back there, but what it is I can't tell at this moment.
Goodbye MrScott

When they picked that location to build it I wasn't really clear on where exactly it was. Once they started showing construction pictures it was more clear and I got a general idea of where it is. Now that they posted that first picture labelled "A view of Skyhawk from the Frontier Trail bridge" I know exactly where it is. I’m even more excited now. :)

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
It was hard for me to figure out exactly how it was positioned more then where it was located. Where they first had the webcam, Skyhawk looked crooked from a certain angle. Now I guess its hanging from a tree. I bet everyone on here is really excited now because construction is practically done. As far as schedule we are with Skyhawk, I'm sure testing will begin shortly.
I'm not sure if anyone read the blogs yesterday, but from the sound of things of what Tony & Tyler said Skyhawk is almost finished. It looks practically done right now, but they have still a bunch of dirt to smooth out.
I think we might see the queue set up by the end of this week. And for the heck of it Ill make a rough guestimate and say everything (concrete, all the hookups, op booths, etc) will be finished by mid to late Feburary or the beginning of March. Of course this just a guess.

I'm really excited over this week and how Tony & Tyler have made Castaway Bay seem brand new. I wish I could walk around in there and tour the place and see the new exotic birds and tropical things they have done to the Hotel/indoor waterpark. If Anyone goes there anytime soon please take some pictures. I can't go for a while right now because of money problems, but I should be all ready by Opening Day. This is something I might consider taking pictures of in 2006.

Well that's not true. What about the ones on the ship in the loby?
The ones on the ship in the lobby wouldn't be 'new'.. they've been there since before Castaway's grand opening.

Like some people on here, I've been keeping track of Skyhawk's construction (and did the same last year for Maxair's construction). It appears to me that both rides took about 2 months to construct. SH though looks all most done and its not even February. I know there are other things that still have to be done around SH but the hole ride is up. What I am trying to get at here is that it is like they wanted to get SH done so they can move on to something else.
Wen they started SH right after the season some people suggested that it was because they wanted to pour the concrete before the ground freezes. Witch I agree with. But then they finished the ride after the foundations were poured.

RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...
They got SH done because the weather was much more cooperative than it was last year. Plus they have a lot more landscaping to do around SH than they did for Maxair. IMHO

thepointol.com has a nice off season update with some construction pics of Skyhawk. And a couple of the SH pics(15, 16, and 33) show the 2 structures that they're building in the queue. What are they? Are they possibly for vending machines?

I forgot about the weather. It has been a very good winter were I live. We probably accumulated about a foot or less wen we could have 2' to 3' by now and most of it has melted. How has it been in Ohio and around the park?
MA did not have a lot of landscaping but redoing the games area did take time (not sure how long). I think if they are putting in a really big attraction were WWL was they would start working on that area wen SH is closer to being finished. But that could be the time were they start to get the park ready for the season so they mite be busy with the rest of the park. I guess we will just have to wait until opening day to see.
vending machines, that's a good guess.
RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...
meh, stupid question.... forget about it.

I think you can count on work to continue on the former WWL site after the park has been already opened for a whole month, so I'm betting preferably June or July, you'll start seeing stuff happening. It will be weird though seeing a wall around what used to be White Water Landing. I hope they leave a plaque or something to honor White Water Landings 24 years here at Cedar Point :)
