New construction markings.

And as an aside...when I was at the park I also noticed a Yellow Gas marking alllll the way up by Maxair................

You really had to be looking for it...it looked to be an access cover of some sort..maybe 3 inches in diameter...but the paint looked too new to be old.....

Checked out some of the markings tonight. Maybe they are just going to fix the concrete in that area? Seemed like a lot of the markings were in areas where the concrete didn't appear to be very "level" anymore.

It might be the case that they are still working on repairing the midways so there isn't as much standing water during heavy rain. I've never been on the WT midway during a storm, so I have no idea what that area looks like during one.

@Josh & Chase: Do you guys have photos of the markings all the way up by MaXair? I was there yesterday and though I wasn't going crazy looking, I did search a little on my walk from MaXair to Wicked Twister and I didn't see any.

I was at the park Wednesday and was walking to Breakers/Beaches n Cream before the storm rolled in, and on my walk on the boardwalk, I saw red and orange flags/spraypaint right inside the gate where the Coral Courtyard is right past Ocean Motion. Is it safe to say the next ride is going in that area? I would actually love that because it would be another ride (next to Wicked Twister of course) that gives an excellent view of the beach and water!

Unless Disaster Transport is removed, I don't see how this could possibly be a coaster (aside from that weird new Intamin design mentioned a couple pages back). Let me rephrase; a coaster of any significant magnitude.

That said, I really don't see how both the demolition of DT and the construction of a new coaster could take place; it stands to reason that if this were a large coaster in that area, DT would be gone, and that process would have already started.

But perhaps I am completely mistaken...just thinking.

^ Actuly it is possible to make something pretty big. Someone (I think Crazy Horse) had a great idea about a ride with a layout on the lines of Diamondback. It's entrance would be by Demon Drop site and would snake around the beach.

But wouldn't WT get in the way? Sorry...couldn't find the design you're referring to, and I really...really...want to see the "warehouse by the beach" get out of CP yesterday.

I was there the past few days and also saw the orange marking outside the beach gate, and red flags under the stadium and around the coral courtyard. Inside the park I noticed marks up near Joe Cool Cafe and between the stadium and WT. This is the first time I used the beach entry, I was in Breakers East so it seemed to be the closest (and nicest) one to walk to. Nice beach view in the morning. I hope they don't get rid of it! or if they use that area, at least move the gate. It's nice to have access directly to the beach from the park.

Being that the resort guests are the ones who tend to spend the most money in the park, I would doubt they would get rid of any conveniences for those guests.

Didn't notice any last night, but wasn't looking too close. Too busy being dragged on Maxair multiple times by my wife and daughter :). Since they will drag me over there again tomorrow, I will take a look around and see what there is to see.

You seen 1 paint marking, you seen them all

Okay, last marking going from Ocean Motion to Maxair was in front of the gazebo next to Chaos. Nothing in the area of Maxair, WT, DT, or Giant wheel.

There are now stakes and contruction markers on the beach near the jet ski rental in the sand.

I think it's safe to say that this is now more than a repaving project.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

If all of the markings so far observed are for the new ride, it would suggest the new attraction (if that's what it is) is a coaster and not a flat. Or if it is a "flat", with the elastic definition of that word, it would have to be something with a spread out footprint or course and not a stand-alone structure like a Top Spin or a Topple Tower.

It definitely looks to be of decent size....whatever this may be. At least these are the first signs of what's to come. Being that we see markers now, perhaps Halloweekends will show the start of construction.

Well, I don’t mean to jump to conclusions, but the idea just popped in my head and sounds too awesome not to share. If the thought of a wooden coaster is true, maybe the reuse of the old name “Shoot the Rapids” is a sign of more recycled ride names to come? I know I'm probably dreaming right now, but it seems to makes sense. The area we're talking about is pretty close to where to old one used to operate.

Cedar Point Cyclone. :)

Cyclone was more in the area where Disaster Transport sits now. Probably the closest a coaster has ever gotten to the location in question was the first Wildcat. It was located where the All Wheels Extreme stadium is now.
