New construction markings.

^Ocean Motion would be great in the Blue Streak area. If they were to theme back The Pirate Ride in the old building, it would be great. Calypso, Pirate Ride, and Ocean Motion would be a great mix of rides for the theming.

Just testing a theory.

What if they are going to move Wicked Twister to the old Demon Drop area? (Remember, CP has moved Wildcat twice.) If they then tore down the stadium they would have a nice plot of land plus a stretch of beach north, south and through the Wicked Twister area--enough for a good sized coaster. And that is without disturbing DT. In fact running a coaster element under (tunnel?) or, better yet, through the loop (a vertical loop?) on DT that hangs out over the beach would be very interesting.

The Big Wheel could go south of the Space Spiral.

So, yeah, CP could tear down a picnic shelter and open up land in the front of the park, or relocate WT and tear down the Aquatic Stadium, opening land along the beach. Who says CP is running out of room?

Isn't the cost of moving a roller coaster roughly half the cost of building the roller coaster in the first place? I thought I read that somewhere.

Wicked Twister wasn't built that long ago. They wouldn't have built it if they knew a couple years later they were going to move it.

WT will finish its 9th year this year. It was built long before the current 5 year plan.

Even if it costs $1m to move it to the front of the park, that is small (but not completely irrelevant) in the context of a $20m+ project. How much did tearing down WWL add to Maverick's construction budget?

^that's just it, I don't know that it would only cost $1M. If it is truely about half the cost it would be closer to $5M to move it.

I would be pretty disappointed if the company is so mis-managed they already have to relocate Wicked Twister. We can speculate and be wrong all we want, but they are paid millions on top of millions to make sure they make the right decisions.

^ I wouldn't say half the cost. I think it has more to do on the amount of track that is on the ride. If your theory was true, The Voyage (6000 feet of track) at Holiday World would be only $3'000'000 to move. Wicked Twister (approx. 700ft of track) would be $5'000'000 to move. That doesn't make any sense.

IIRC, the 1/2 cost that Kyle mentioned came from the costs of moving the Geauga Lake rides. Cedar Fair had said something with regards to it costing them about half of what a new ride would have cost.

I just don't think that is accurate at all because why would it cost more to move Wicked Twister than Magnum?

^ because of the amount of new eletrical work you would have to do. You got to remember WT has some serious power going to it and moving its location could mess up the power grid or require serious changes.

Even if it wouldbe easy, WT still isn't going anywhere.

I don't know why this wasn't brought up earlier, but maybe the 2011 attraction will be a slingshot like at Kings Island. It's something a lot of parks have the Cedar Point doesn't, would "target the thrill seeker" and fit easily in many locations in the park, including the ones mentioned, or challenge park.

Maybe no one has brought it up out of fear that they could possibly be correct.

They now have Red, Orange, Green, and Blue markings by Ocean Motion!

I'm thinking that if you were going to dig at an amusement park, you would want to know where ALL utilities were located regardless of what you were digging for.

Again, these are just markings of existing utilities, not new. Any excavation would require marking of anything in the area. So, this is not unexpected.

As much as I would love one at Cedar Point right by the lake I can't see it going anywhere but in Challenge Park. I dont see why they would put an upcharge ride in the park when you have a section for those kind of rides.

Not similar at all.

I don't know where it would go, but something like Slingshot would fit all clues almost perfectly. Fits in a small spot (a large spot has yet to be revealed), can go up in the amount of time left, and MOST importantly would fulfill Dick's promise to target the thrill seeker to a tee.

Dick's clue to target the thrill seeker bothered me since the time he said it. Maverick was coined a family ride, same with skyhawk and MaXair...so what targets just the thrill seeker?
