There is one very interesting piece of track I got a picture of today that's in the staging area.... It's two rail, but has an interesting piece attached to the one side of it.
Yeah, I saw a few pics of that track on pointpixels.....that thing on it sure is weird. I dont know why, but I have this odd feeling it might have to do with the braking system...... *** Edited 7/20/2006 4:04:45 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Anyone happen to see the new update (07.19.06) On pointpixels.com????? The staging area? What is that piece of two rail track with that thing sticking up? MF or any other Intamin coaster has that????? And most of the 2 rail pieces are curved??? And all we have seen thus far have been two-rail or triangled pieces...... Where is the signature Intamin Box track?
Tim
yeah man, we've been talking about that piece of track for the last several hours. way to read the last 10 posts. *** Edited 7/20/2006 4:57:42 AM UTC by halltd***
i'm sort of new to the construction sequence of rides or coasters but have followed project 2007 more closely than before and the one question i had is if it is going to be in the range of 175' to 250' or maybe a little more than that as some have suggested, wouldn't there be a larger crane already on site or would that come later?
Izzy....
That's a double sided coin for ME.... i would ove to see another accelerator coaster going in.... but CP doesn't put the same type of ride in twice.... Well Once with the Blue Streak and Mean Streak.... Which i don't get, but everythign else has been totally different, so i don't think we will see another rocket like TTD. IMO i think it's going to be something different from WT and MF and TTD (All intamins).... IMO, i think (And those of us who don't buy into rumors) think it's goings going to be a run of the mill standard steel coaster. Nothing extravagant, nothing that willl "WOW" us. And that is just my take on the "Different direction" thing. Every year CP does something to outdue itself, i think, it's going to be something that is not worth the hype that everyone is fussing about, no need to flame me or go all "It's gonna be 500ft and do like 12 inversions and go 500 miles into lake erie and have LSM's pulling it down the hill" or anything, just my honest down-to-earth- prediction.
Tim
you don't necessarily need a tall crane for the supports that are on site now. you just need to be able to bolt the sections together. but, to put the track on top, you'd need a taller crane. so, yes, i would say a taller crane would come later.

since when are blue streak and mean streak the "same"?? last i checked they were totally different. blue streak is an out and back coaster. mean streak is not. blue streak is all about air. mean streak is not.
sure they're both wooden coasters, but that's about it. if that's all you're going by, all of CP's other coasters are the same too. LOL!!
not to really read too much into what tony and tyler have been writing like many have with the hints that people think they have been dropping on the onpoint blogs but the only thing that gets me about what they said probably more than anything was i think there first post when they said this was "amazing and unprecedented" and to use the word unprecedented would obviously mean that it was something that hasn't been done before and i'm not so sure they would use that word so freely if it wasn't truly unprecedented...just a thought

Ok... see i "kind of classified" Mean streak as an out and back, but some people like to call it a twister coaster. But none-the-less, do you see my point in saying nothin has been repeated....
WT uses LSMS and TTD uses a cable, so let's not bring that into discussion.
But i am trying to bring some realism into this thread.
Tim
Well technically Wicked Twister uses LIM's, and Dragster uses hydraulics.:)

In most of the pictures that are out there, the crane is in the "folded" position. It's actually bigger than it looks.

That strange piece that everyone is talking about looks to me a lot like the underside of the StormRunner launch:

What do you guys think?

I wonder what it's full boom is?
And sigma, Storm Runner has those "I" beams under its launch track for utilities and for a walkway. The weird piece has that extension built right into the track/support of the track and is way more elaborate than the "I" beams on SR's launch track. I still have no idea what it's for, but I think (actually I’m sure) the track will be going on the square footers. *** Edited 7/20/2006 5:53:49 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

I don't know the stat, but it appears to be the same size as the one in the staging area when fully extended.
