It can easier be a record breaker, or do you not remember that Diamondback is KI's tallest, fastest and meanest coaster ever?
Who wants to bet that Carowinds is getting the tallest coaster in the Carolinas next year?

Raptor cost 11.5 million to build and thats a great ride. Why cant they build two rides that cost that much???? still wouldn't cost as much as millennium.
That's about $16.5 million in 2008 dollars and does not account for the difference in the price change of steel in particular.

It won't be hard to build the tallest coaster in the Carolinas. I believe the tallest one is Time Machine at Hard R... er.. Freestyle Music Park. 150 feet, not hard to top, since a hyper is 200 feet anyways. http://rcdb.com/id3852.htm

Did you come up with some type of formula for that Jeff? 16.5 Mill or not, its not 25 million or 21 million. Wick twister was 9 million and, I love that ride. Lets face it, if they don't bring in something with some significance people will get tired of the same stuff. Putting in an attraction like The Starlight Experience doesn't really excite me.
Uh, inflation is pretty well documented by economists. It's not hard to find this stuff.
Really, who cares if Starlight doesn't excite you? I think it's exactly the right thing to do because of its broad appeal. I know it's hard to fathom, but roller coasters are not the be-all, end-all to drawing people in and keep them coming back. I'm sure you'll be disappointed with the new ride.

I think your missing my point. I dont care what kind of ride it is...I just hope its a ride. I love every ride in the park. Its just that themeing, flowers, fountains, dont do anything for me, and they for sure wont keep me coming back.
Agree, Starlight is a fantastic addition. Very few shows cause me to stop riding coasters at night (most of them are at Disney) but ever since I saw it for the first time, Ive found myself making a loop through the Trail every time Im at CP.

Cpfantatic066, you say themeing, flowers and flowers don't do anything for you but subtle they probally do. For example before cedar fair took over Michigan Adventure, landscaping there was hey lets put a mound of dirt here, take out trees here, it was basically a landscape void of landscaping and very rundown looking. Since the take over, it has gotten character, is appealing and taking the steps in the right direction becoming a eye pleasing park. There is a certain draw for many to lightshows. I myself have enjoyed the Pictures that have been posted and have been trying my hardest to save to come to CP to get the full experience. Take time smell the roses and when that coaster doesn't arrive in 2010, enjoy what ever it may be.
Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
Nothing but rides may excite you, but guess what, there are these groups of people with 5 year olds and 68 year olds. They are called families, and not everybody in this so called "family" can ride giant 22 million dollar coasters. They need something to do to, example: Starlight. The more people CP appeal to the more people who come, and the more people who come the more money. Guess where that money goes.... To your rides that "excite you".

And also, I feel that good theming on a rollercoaster makes it a lot better. Like at Kings Island, the Stunt Coaster would be nothing without the theming. And Flight of Fear is better with the UFO and stuff. The only ride with some of that is Maverick. CP needs more of that.

please, you telling me starlight experience will last a long time??? It was a terrible investment. Those lights will be out before you know it and they wont maintain it.. Think about all the labor put into it and what they get back from it...I guarantee you people dont go into the park between 9-11 at night to see that.
Perhaps SE doesn't lure you and your 15 year old cohorts into the park, but it certainly adds value for those that the parks gives a damn about attracting, and that's all that matters.

I do like the theming on Maverick! I think what ever they put needs more of that! I mean the Diamondback is cool! When I went on opening day, there was a line a buses parked in a lline that had the Diamondback snake painted across them! It really added to the excitment! I mean I would love to see that happen in the next project for Cedarpoint! I hope it is another coaster because I would like to see them keep their title.......
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
Cedar Point has to change their name if they don't get a new coaster next year? To what?
Cedar Water Flume?

Without theming and landscaping Cedar Point would have all the appeal of a bunch of rides sitting in the middle of the mall parking lot.
Our family of coaster nuts has taken elderly relatives with us for weekends at CP and they never ride a single ride. They attend all the shops and enjoy strolling around the park while we ride coasters.
Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.

Clearly all of those people milling about on the trail late are out of their minds! And gosh, them hanging out in the park longer, and buying more food and merchandise on the way out is awful for the park too.
