I do love that I got not one, but two responses pointing out something that's terribly obvious. Gotta love coaster dorks. :)

Brandon

Ok, now I know you are joking around. haha.

I actually own an old H.G. Wells book that has all of his best short stories: War of the Worlds, Invisible Man, Time Machine and a couple others.

Great stuff.

Hoping to one day build these great machines that we affectionatly call "Coasters"

That was fun for a while.

Seems kind of weird they leveled that area at least two months ago (aerial pics from 3/14), could be longer for all we know, and have done nothing with it since. Or at least it doesn't look like they've done much. I wonder what the motivation was to clear the land then just leave it that way. I'm sure its just a scheduling thing, they had some free time to do it for whatever reason so they did and haven't had time to work on it since.

Well there are now some red flags marking the area, so something is in the works soon.

With regard to my previous post re: Pilgrim's Plunge, I was not suggesting to put in a ride like PP; that would obviously be redundant with SRF, and I agree that it is rather "ugly:.

What I was suggesting is that CP could use the technology/design of the "elevator lift" with a log-flume ride, but theme that lift to look like a wooden tower or something along those lines.

As with the newer vertical lift coasters (Farenheit, etc.), this saves a lot of space, and would be something unique.

I've seen some TV shows about LIM-powered water slides... almost a flume:

That would be pretty neat as an alternative to a conveyor belt.

Are they really using LIM, or is this the water-jet thing that Schlitterbahn does with a comparison to LIM?

Also, is Fahrenheit vertical lift? I thought it was LIM as well.

Fahrenheit has a chain-driven vertical lift.

Brandon

Sweet, thanks man. Looks like a great ride. Haven't been to Hershey in about 25 years, and I was too young to remember it.

In my own opinion, it would make for a very unique experience (having a vertical-lift log flume); the elevator lift on PP could accomplish this in an interesting way if themed correctly (to reduce the "ugliness"). :)

I don't see how PP's lift is any less visually appealing than SRF's.

Well I agree with you there; SRF never got its mountain, and is left looking quite strange, with the "theming" up top after an ugly lift. They could have at least made it look "rustic" or wooden.

I was not, by the way, suggesting SRF be removed at all...just speculating about what could possibly be going onto the island.

wat cp needs to do is like transform Mantis like SF did with Medusa to Bizzaro that would be realy nice.

What does that have to do with the Mystery Construction?

Let's Get Weird.

Im not sure that any of you have listened to the interview posted on the Cedar Fair site. Dick Kinzel revealed during the interview that a new ride was planned for 2009 at Cedar Point, and because of the staggering attendance in the first part of 2008 they persuaded the manufacturer to post-pone the ride until 2010. you can check it out at cedarfair.com

Kevinj's avatar

Does he mention which manufacturer?

Promoter of fog.

where on cedarfair.com?

Kevinj, he only referred to the manufacturer as " our ride proveyer "
