Well it was more like a "Ive never been to Cedar Point in early May, so what is it usually like question" not an invite crack on my question.
Crowds will be light. Most of the time you will have a walk on. The only thing you have to worry bout is School field trips. Most of those seem to leave around 5 or 6 anyways so you'll have light crowds. Have fun! :)

Pretty combative for a first post, though I suppose from the comment, this isn't your first day here.
Of course, if that were true, you would know it's not a very answerable question. Besides, is there an answer that would cause you to cancel your trip?

Your right by saying this is not my first day on this site. Ive been listening to what people have to say on this site for years now. As far as future construction goes, it seems like most people don't have a clue whats going on, but I do find the speculation rather entertaining.
I knew as soon as I submitted my question it was going to turn in to sarcasm city, as this site often does.
As far as my trip goes, the hotel is already reserved for the night of the 18th and there is no turning back. Should be a blast for sure, but I was just kind of curious to what people had to say "crowd wise" about an early May excursion.
Asking questions about crowds is no more different than asking what the weather will be like on <insert day>. Just because the Weather Channel claims their 10 day forecasts are reliable doesn't mean the rest of us buy into the same delusion.
Crowds are unpredictable, the park does have estimates based on previous-year performance, but its more for reference than anything else.
Since you say you've been here awhile, try reading the stickied topics that you seem to have missed during your time here, it'll help to avoid future combat and sarcasm.

While impossible to actually predict the crowds for any given day, the park doesn't close at 8 because they expect it to be packed, and they don't stay open till 12 because they expect walk-ons.
The schedule is the best way to see what the historical data indicates.

Mid-week in mid-may is a good time to go for light crowds, it's when we always planned our trips when I was in college. The hotels aren't booked, the campgrounds are just opening, the weather hasn't gotten too warm yet and public school's still in. Best trip I ever had was the first or 2nd week they were open, Tuesday through Thursday. It was a little misty and cold but all the rides were still running. The park was just about completely empty, it was awesome. To tie this back into the topic, if you make it on an empty day and have a camera, see if you can get some up close and personal pics of the land clearing.
I'm going last week of may, and don't expect huge crowds. Most you'll have to combat are the school groups, but like others have said whenever they leave the park everything becomes pretty much a walk on (at least this was the case at Hersheypark last june).
What day is Memorial Day in the month of May? I know in the past when I went crowds were not too bad. I know I'm going opening day in May, and whatever day Memorial Day lands on.
^^ Memorial Day is relatively early this year, May 25th. I went to CP on Memorial Day two years ago, and I thought the crowd was comparable to opening day. I got there late morning and rode 7 coasters in 7 hours, plus a few flats in-between.

Birdman got it, but for your future reference, Memorial Day is always the last Monday in May. Labor Day is always the first Monday in September.

Thanks for clarifying that with me juggalotus. I was thinking for some reason that Memorial Day was the in the Beginning of May.
Can we expect some pictures of this site on opening day? :)
Only by means that are legal.;)
That means the train is our only way to get pictures.:D

^At least for the island. By now, there may be work going on elsewhere as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what's happened since the aerial photos were posted. However, of prior commitments, I won't be able to make it to the park until CoasterMania. So, someone get something ok? :)

Yes it would, you are allowed to take pictures from both.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
