Mystery Construction

Chief, every other row would have to be standup though. Kinda hard for him to be looking over your should if you're both sitting.

So, I know that the announcement is now less than 24 hours away, but that doesn't mean we can't still speculate! Follow this link to ScreamScape: http://www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#BM, but before everyone rants at me about how screamscape is just about as reliable as wikipidea, trust me, I know. I've heard it from you guys many times. Scroll down to where it says STOP B&M. Take a look at the picture. Let me know what you think. (I know B&M has already been ruled out, but that doesn't mean that this factory isn't making Intamin ride parts, right?)

Also, saw on some crazy lady's blog that she was at CP and in line for the Mean Streak (Shocking right?). Unique thing is, there is a yard next to the quene line by Mean Streak that houses extra ride trains/parts (I've seen some from Gemini, SNF, etc.) She said that she saw construction materials along with construction equipment sitting there. Any truth to this? Someone who is going to the point soon, I know it is a lot to ask to ride the Mean Streak, but can someone check this out?

"Construction materials" is laughably vague, given the amount of daily maintenance that is done on Mean Streak alone.

As for the track, I'm not quite sure how a log flume boat would navigate that...

^^Not to be a dream-crusher, but Tony told us it's not going to be a B&M. I was at the park Sunday and Monday and I saw those "construction" vehicles. It's nothing big. Just small dirt pushers and such that I've seen on site all year long.

DJ: Agreed. Just another example of me not thinking things through.

DVO: Fuhgetabutit. Didn't crush any dreams. Thanks for the clarification on the "construction equipment." Also, edited my post.

Can that B&M plant possibly make Intamin track...?

djDaemon's avatar

I don't think that's a B&M plant, but rather a steel fabrication shop that B&M contracts to do work, so yeah, theoretically speaking, they could make Intamin track.

Brandon

I have never seen intamin use box spined track.

And I've never seen McDonalds sell a Whopper. What's your point? :)

Brandon

It is sort of unlikely that it is intamin track, they seem to use round tubes for spince. B&M is the only company I know of that use the much stronger and louder box spined track.

I am sorry I could have sworn reading that the box spined track is stronger, but can't find it now.

The company is Clermont Steel Fabricators. For as long as I can remember, they have only ever made track for B&M. Intamin makes theirs in Switzerland I believe and sends it to the US in Shipping Containers. That's one of the reasons we knew Kings Dominion's coaster was going to be Intamin even though the track didn't look like typical Intamin.

For you facebookers out there, here are some Clermont photos I got the day after GOCC's event at Kings Island 2 weeks ago.

Since when is a box shape stronger than a cylinder?

2 - that is B&M track. But as DJ pointed out, there is nothing to stop, what is just a contracted steel fabrication company, from making Intamin track if given the designs. Same steel, different pattern.

I kind of wondered about the stuff over by Mean Streak, but figured it was nothing. But it does bring up the question, has that stuff always been over there? I never noticed it until this year.

Yes, they use MS's infield for a lot of stuff. And I'd imagine even more so now, seeing as how the boneyard is no longer being used.

I'm genuinely excited for a new ride, but reading this thread really makes me appreciate those years when CP doesn't add a new ride.

^^Yeah, that doesn't look to hillbilly, does it? Wait, hillbilly, doesn't that fit in with the new theme? That's it! The new ride is going to be an addition to MS running all the way to Millennium Island! You'll fly by an actual hillbilly yard full of trash inside MS! ;)

Speaking of hillbilly...
Every time someone uses carats instead of those oh-so-tricky "English words", I want to punch a baby in the face. Is the concept of context really that difficult to grasp?

Sorry for the rant, but I had no idea what the hell you were talking about, and that's frustrating.

Brandon

djDaemon, isn't that a little harsh? Punch a BABY in the face? I could see punching the person who did it in the face, but not a baby... I mean, I agree with you about the not knowing what the hell they are talking about. But, I digress, yet again. :)

Well, punching carat users in the face wouldn't help, because they wouldn't understand why I was doing it, unless I were to use carats to explain it to them. And because I have an IQ over 12, I don't use carats.

But punching a baby in the face... Now that will get the attention of anyone - even America/freedom/puppy-hating carat users.

:)

Brandon

Mourningglorie, what if the perp was a baby? Oooh, conundrum.

I hate posts that have like 30 carats leading them off, and when you go 30 posts up, it's not even the right post that they were mentioning. It's like they just put a random number in just to fool with people.
