Is that ride still at Geauga Lake or was it one of the sold rides? I never thought about re-locating that ride, I wonder if its possible and if so if it would be worth it versus new construction....
That ride is gone. The only ride that is left at the park intact is The Big Dipper, Most of the Ragging Wolf Bobs and the ride that I forget the name, but it is the one that was by the Dominator and you swing by the cables... my mind is a blank for the name..It still would be nice if some day they put a ride like the Dominator in Cedarpoint! That is a sweet floorless!

I said that with sarcasm. The Geauga Lake log flume was crap 20 years ago. No, it would not be worth it nor would the capacity be enough for Cedar Point.
In fact, should this turn out to be a new log flume I will be most interested in a couple of things. Will it be themed (not necessarily Cedar Point's strong suit) and how will they beef up capacity?
Actually, if Dick opens up the purse strings there are talented people in Cedar Fair that could do a number in terms of theme. But, that is a BIG if.

As nuch as I did enjoy the Log ride at Geauga Lake, it needed work! It has seen many riders....I hope whatever is coming in has a great theme to it! It makes the ride have a personallity and more fun!

Sorry I didn't know, I have never been on it so I couldn't pick-up on it. Last time I was at that park was about 10 years ago? It was my first and only time and it was six flags at that time. I did go to the Wildwater Kingdom once this summer and from certain parts of that water park you can see the Dipper and Wolf roller coasters. Its a shame to see those coasters go to waste in a park that has bushes and grass growing on the walkways and everywhere else now.
Does anyone know what happened to the Villian? Is that still there because I know moving a wooden coaster is a lot more work than a steel. I loved that woodie.
It was sold for scrap.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
What really sucks is I will not find out what it is until about 11 because I have a meeting now that starts at 9. Timing is everything.
People take care. I am out till tomorrow around 11. I will be posting on the new thread about the new project that has had us speculating for months.

Just because Tony said that the ride will fill a void in the cedar point line-up and that its a ride the entire family will enjoy, does not rule out a coaster. a void in cedar points line up is a wooden roller coaster. and maverick was also called a family friendly ride. look how that turned out. tomorrow will be an interesting day.
my fav. rides:
1) Top Thrill Dragster
1) M-Force
1) Maverick

DJ, yeah, it makes me wonder if we're talking about the new and future entry to Terror Island -- and if so, would this ride therefore shut down after every Labor Day? Perhaps it would be a moot point if it's a water ride and a drencher. But I would hate to see something like an updated WWL close every year with two months left on the season.
Perhaps the two attractions could share whatever means they use to access the island (i.e. 3-"lane" bridge)?
ADDED:
Ty, regardless of whether or not MS sucks by our standards, it still gives out 900,000 rides a year, and fills the wooden coaster niche just fine by GP standards.

I figure that the same people who think using carats is a good way to identify responses to a particular earlier posting are the same people who think that top-posting should be acceptable. Personally, I like the following explanation of why top-posting is a Bad Idea™:
A: No, you shouldn't do it.
Q: Is it okay to top-post?
...but with people using lookOut, which doesn't insert quote characters, and same people too lazy to scroll down before typing, we have a whole generation of people who think top-posting and including the whole thread in an email message is a reasonable thing to do. Grrrrr.
Doesn't anybody read Emily Postnews anymore?

...and now I see another reason for not using the caret thingy...a page and a half of responses arrived between the time I started and finished my netiquette post.
Hmmm...the new attraction will "round out the attraction line-up" eh?
Ah. I've got it. They are installing the Carousel from Geauga Lake.

I'm gonna predict that only the ride will access the island. Unless you bridge the queue over the water at some point, I think you'd have a big bottleneck unless you connect the path across to PWE/Camp Snoopy. Besides, I don't think they'd want to give up the seclusion of Terror Island.
So my guesses would be:
Entrance near petting zoo.
Station in former boneyard.
Ride goes out to island.

Maybe they are just relocating the Geauga Lake Log Flume.

My original information was that it never received and bids at auction. But, someone has recently told me that they saw it at the new Schlitterbahn park. Schlitterbahn bought several of the rides at the Geauga Lake auction. So, they either did have a bid in on it, or maybe they made an offer after the fact directly to Cedar Fair. I thought it was still on site until I made a trip out 2 weeks ago and saw that it was in fact gone.

I know you were kidding. But, it would be nice to finally know where they plan on putting it.

Maybe it's just a big line that goes around all the other attractions. Triple pun. Ride the Pine.

Then Kings Island did a press day for Diamondback, with virtually no press. Is it obvious that they chased out all of the best marketing people from Paramount Parks?
Considering the state of the Media business, I think that the turnout was pretty good. All of the Cincinnati stations sent crews, and I think they all did liveshots in their morning show. ONN also sent their Cincinnati bureau reporter, and the local papers were there. Heck, Fox Toledo even sent a reporter and photog down. What more would you expect?
With budgets and staffs slashed in local newsrooms, I doubt any of the Columbus, Indy, or Louisville has the bodies to send 2 or 3 hours away to cover something like that.
Coverage of DB's media day still made the air in Columbus, Cleveland, Indy, and I'm sure several other markets (including San Diego, oddly enough). The planners of these events need to appeal to their local media as much as possible to ensure they come, then generate interest with news operations on the fringe of their area so that the local stations "share" their material. It's much easier for me to get WKRC's material off of our shared fttp site than it is to send one of my crews to Cincinnati.
Dead Men Tell No Tales
What does everyone think will be the thrill rating on this flume , a 4 or a 5 . I think saying its "geared toward the whole family" might just mean it has a lower hieght requirement . I have a feeling it will be reasonably aggressive .
Anyone consider that they might use one of the existing buildings on the frontier trail for the station? Fort Sandusky perhaps?
I've been following this discussion up until this point (or as best I could with so many pages) but haven't commented as of now. I am VERY interested to see what ends up being announced tomorrow. I've been saying for a while that I would love a large-scale addition that wasn't necessarily a coaster. So if it ends up being some type of flume ride I would be quite excited.
I'm not feeling good about making a guess yet, but maybe I will have the courage later this evening.
