Why are you so focused on me?

Brandon

we no nothing about next years attraction. it could be a flume or a coaster. my theory is a coaster and if you are dismissing that and attacking me over it, then you are dismissing alot of other poeples theories. so what i analized the X's and i told you what they could mean. a company isn't going to put random stuff on their merchandise without having it mean something. you think its a flume good for you. so do other people. until cedar point announces anything the ride can be anything. and i said that its possible but unlikely that the ride wont open until 2011. read what i said before attacking me over it but saying "that won't happen." or "really, cedar point lying to the public" i never said it would happen just said its possible because right now anything is. and don't make fun of my spelling. everyone makes mistakes typing, get the **** over it. there is no need to bring it up.

my fav. rides:
1) Top Thrill Dragster
1) M-Force
1) Maverick

Ty Z. - Welcome to Pointbuzz. Please read through here and here. That'll help get you started.

As for ideas, some have more credibility than others, and some ideas aren't based in reality. As for the "XXX" its a stereotypical way of marking a jug of alcohol, so there's no other meaning to it.

As for people arguing, welcome to the interwebs. People aren't going to always agree with you, and if you don't have a thick skin about it, you're not going to last long. DJ doesn't have to have an open mind about your ideas any more than you have to agree with his. But being able to put together a well thought out reasoned argument for why such and such ride is possible goes a lot further than saying that's what it'll be because it's what you want.

What are you so angry about? You've been trying to shred every opinion that contradicts your own as soon as it comes along. Jeff can correct me if need be, but I doubt that's supposed to be your job here. Are you free to do so? Yes - thankfully, we still have freedom of speech, but why not keep a cordial tone and focus more on the content rather than snapping at others for the sake of putting them down?

At the end of the day, this is a forum... about an amusement park... for enthusiasts to talk about the park. Is it really worth getting upset over?

You aren't the first so don't even try.

Stop being such a mean jerk face, John!

Where's RaceRinger, anyway? I'm curious about his response regarding SRF being around next year.

I have very low expectations for this ride. If it's a water ride that will blow, if it's a coaster it might be a fun ride. But based upon their "viral" marketing it's going to be somewhat themed to the South. They've used Whyte Lightning for more than just Cedar Point's campaign, so I'm pretty sure that's not the name. Either way I'm not a Nascar fan, nor a Dale Earnhardt fan, but they seem to have jumped on his bandwagon. This will be a lackluster attraction. Blech!

Maybe (just maybe) the people's who's "opinions" are being shredded should try and come up with better arguments as to why theirs is valid. DJ's done a pretty good job of defending his position but with no argument back other than "stop picking on me". Not a very convincing argument if you ask me.

I'm attempting to improve the vibe and culture of the forum in a small way by suggesting people be a little more polite and understanding - rather than be quick to attack opposing viewpoints.

Why focus on you? No reason other than it seems like you've been quick to shoot down others recently.

I figured the XXX meant we were going to get the world's first full nude Hooters!

CP has pretty much narrowed it down to 1 manufacturer Intamin , while there are some smaller companies that havent been eliminated they are highly unlikely . theres easily a 95% chance its intamin .and if you start at page 1 of this thread its painfully obviously that all signs point to a water ride/flume . but feel free to speculate what intamin it is

Okay, so I think the number of Xs on the bottle could mean something, but not likely (google images moonshine jug, they all have xs)

Maybe somekind of coaster that uses all the paddlewheel theming? Or else the little guy in the press release cartoon is going to be killed off, and they get rid of the paddle wheel.

And imho A front page article (Even if its just local papers) is gennerating hype, and sending teaser packages to the media

I'm going to throw my guess in....

I think it's going to be a combo flume/dark ride like something you would find in Florida...but not as heavily themed. (Construction would have started along time ago if they had to build a mountain)

RaceRinger, you have had convincing logic from the start, but you were incorrect about SRF leaving. Wouldn't you agree that reduces your credibility?

I will admit that I was wrong about that. From the information I was given last year, the original plan was to take out SRF. For whatever reason, they must have changed their minds or figured out a way to build the ride without having to take it out. Apparently it'll be receiving an overhaul next year, so that's good at least.

But I've been told fairly recently about this being an Intamin flume with the same type boats as Pilgrim's Plunge, and I'm 99.9% positive that's correct. That doesn't necessarily mean that the ride will be anything like Pilgrim's Plunge, it just means it'll have the same kind of boats (think PTC and how their trains can be used for several different manufacturers of woodies). The entrance will be right near Pet Farm if I remember correctly.

Last edited by RaceRinger,

It has been a long while since I've posted, but I have been following the whole thread.

Personally, I feel that CP is creating hype. Sending out the media package, the teasers via Facebook, Twitter, and their blog have gotten us all riled up. T & T know that we're getting hyped up and they keep feeding us fuel to do so. They know exactly what they're doing.

That said, I dont think it will be a major coaster. Why? Because a new coaster at CP does a phenomenal job of marketing itself. Just throw an animated POV on the website and that's nearly all they'd have to do. Something that may not be as easily advertised needs a bit of extra hyping. Especially if it's a ride that the GP doesn't think to be anything terribly special... such as a flume or dark ride.

Do I know what's coming? Not at all. Do I have my theories? of course. We all do. I heard an idea over at Coasterbuzz that sounds more feasible than most: A major renovation to SRF. I think that a bit of TLC could really make that lackluster ride a much more entertaining experience.

Thoughts?

1. The new attraction HAS to be an Intamin. It HAS HAS HAS. Everybody says so.

2. You don't get wet on it.

3. It's not an Aquatrax.

So therefore, after reviewing Intamin's catalog, it can only be one thing:

Yep. New tugboats for the lagoon. You saw it here first.

Boy am I jazzed! ;)

Hype

Marketing

Cedar Point (namely Tony) isn't "hyping" anything. Only the people getting it all worked up in their heads that this will be some huge coaster are hyping.
