Mystery Construction

I think someone mentioned it before, or perhaps I read it over on Coasterbuzz...the threads are becoming tangled in my brain...

Anyways, with the cartoon that was sent out in the media kit, I'm beginning to maybe think that this whole thing could be an upgrade to Paddle Wheel Excursions.

I think the reference "...said there's fires burning all night long..." in the comic is making reference to the missing trees, as if they "burned down" which perhaps could be a firewater section in that area, which also could be enhanced at night, along with the Starlight treatment for the rest of the ride.

I've never thought this ride would be a coaster, but I'm not so sure about the flume anymore either. Some things are just not adding up for me.

Just thought of this, but what if TTD was going to be rethemed to Intimidator 420 and Millennium Force was rethemed to Whyte Lightning and made it somehow similar to Bazzaro (except fun, and with good attempt at theming). I know it's crazy and probably (certainly) not going to happen, but it might be cool.

Edit: Funny how both those happening would officially make Cedar Fair the new Six Flags :) Using the same name at different parks for different types of rides and Retheme world class coasters in tacky ways.

No please god no. I would have a breakdown. Dragster and Millennium are fine as is. No need for a rethemeing of either.

There's way too much hype and promo for this ride to be a flat/flume ride.

I'm leaning toward an Intamin Coaster. I'm also thinking something that we never saw before. I liked the Split Coaster idea. Esp how they are using the Y's in the name. And Lighting Strike Twice. Or even a racing coaster to fit with the KD and Carowinds new coasters.

Depends what it is, will it be done for 2010 Opening Day?

I just hope it is something really good considering that they are announcing what it is after they announced the coasters they are building at the other parks. Seems like they are making a bigger deal before the announcement here than I read about the other parks. Knowing my luck, it will be some sort of "spinny-pukey" ride.

I was starting to think that I was the only one who read the link to the newspaper article that was posted on page 140. The 6 pages of (mostly) noise that has been posted since then definitely lead me to believe nobody else looked at it.

Isn't McCoy (the character depicted in the comic strip that was sent to the newspaper) a character on the Paddlewheel Excursions circuit? If so, I applaud them for using existing theme/characters in a cool and unique way.

^^^ Wow i never thought of that! I agree with BirdOfPrey00 on this one. As much as I would like to see an awesome new ride or coaster, this seems to me to be one of the more logical ideas ive heard.

No comment on this scenario guys?

Your assumptions aren't based in reality, which is probably why your scenario was overlooked with the rest of the OMFGWTFBBQ 500 FOOTER-esque nonsense that has propagated throughout this thread.

Cedar Fair doesn't take a pile of money and then dream up moronic, half-baked capital investment plans so as to spend every last dime. That would be about the fastest way to go bankrupt (read: Six Flags). CF looks at what parks need what type of attraction, and goes from there.

In addition, the economy is in the crapper. Its hardly the time to be spending money like an enthusiass would if given the chance.

Sorry for the double-post...

Those of you claiming that "hype = massive attraction", consider this... CF just announced two coasters at two other parks, and did so with fanfare that hasn't even been remotely hinted at regarding CP's 2010 attraction. For KD & CW, they had planned media days that were announced well in advance. CP has made no such plans. Sure, we know we should find out around Labor Day, but beyond that, we know nothing.

If CP were getting a coaster, would CF have these big media events for KD & CW, then just completely gloss over Kinzel's most favoritest (and subsequently most significant) park in the World?

Now that's a puzzle piece that fits with what's been released so far. It could be as little as a new scene on the island to a whole new ride system that circles the island...imagine an outdoor it's a small world or Pirates of the Carribean without the drops. A very intriguing theory, indeed.

You might be on to something there Birds of Prey. Your post made me think...what if this ends up being a souped-up Paddelwheel Excursions? Tony said that "we" are the ones that cause all the hype, so maybe this attraction is nothing to get overly excited about (meaning a major ride).

Read my e-lips. It. Will. Be. A. Flume.

That is all.

Here is a thought, maybe they are moving some of the scenes from the PWE to make room for the new attraction?By the way, with that press mailing, did they supply a date for the actual announcment?

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Im thinking the odds are slim to none that this is going to be some sort of coaster. Jeff said before to think about what gaps need filled at Cedar Point. Right now the biggest gap is some sort of dark ride.

Anyone wonder why the Cedar point facebook page is down? All other pages I use are working but theirs is not. Maybe another update???

Or a flume.

RaceRinger, I feel like you're trying to tell us something....

^I've been trying for months. I might as well speak to the wall in my apartment.

Ive been gone for a day or two and i come back to 20 new pages i read through it and i bet 70% of it is repete information from people to lazy to read anything more than the page they are posting on,,, [not talking about people on this page],, Im not trying to be rude but it would be polite to catch up on things before quadruple posting someone elses idea so the rest of us dont have to get irretated sifting through miles of repete post . Not that anyone will listen to me , cause my post wont even get read by ^said people once we get to page 148

Back on topic i think this flume ride will be mildly themed . i think it will not be like the one at holiday world . i think it will have multiple small drops and one big one [obviously] , and maybe some unique elements , like maybe it will be a dual racing flume. Although it could still be a 555ft dualling flyer with 125 degree drop and 47 inversions ...*sigh*

p.s. DJ youve been crackin me up these last few pages tryin to get these guys to use common sense ...a.k.a. the "why would CP market anything but a coaster" reasoning these guys are using

If you haven't seen it, we have a page tracking all the latest info. It's also a good place to review all of the clues.
