It is cold in the winter time. There are indoor waterparks but no outdoor waterparks besides Soak City.

Darnavo, was it the MOst extreme series on Travel Channel?

Besides, why wouldn't they want you to be excited for a new water ride? You think they are going to spend $10 million (random number) on a new attraction then just say, "meh its not really that good, you should probably go to Kings Dominion instead?" They build rides that they think will bring poeple($) to the park. Not rides that pad their ego as the coaster kings.

1. If it was a water ride, then of course they would want you to be excited...because if they didn't work at it no one would be excited. I for one flat out don't care if they spend $10 million on a water ride because I won't ride it. I don't want to ride water rides. That is what soak city is for.

2. King's Dominion is building only the second giga-coaster in NA. That is an awful lot more attracting than, say, a log flume. Your statement would actually be correct.

3. Cedar Point is America's Roller Coast. That's what they do. A new roller coaster will attract an awful lot more people than a log flume any way you cut it. They like being the 'Roller Coaster Kings' and won't give that title up easy.

Undomesticated equines could not remove me.

If your dreading a flume ride let me relieve your fears. To think that CP would build a regular ol' flume is completly rediculous. Sure for a tiny park like Holiday World a large flume is a big deal , but for a mega park like CP there a dime a dozen and nobody would care .

Take a look at CPs track record with ground breaking rides like the first mega , giga , and strata coasters or record breakers like Raptor , Mantis , Gemini , Meanstreak , and Wicked Twister or just something unique like Maverick.

If CP is building a water ride , which is likely , it will be anything but ordinary . It will be one of a kind , high quality , high tech , and more than likely awesome if not maybe ground breaking .

I can GAR-UN-TEE you wont be disapointed with this water ride (if thats what it is) unless you hate water , then your out of luck... .....myself , im hoping most of us are wrong and its a coaster

Are you referring to all of Ohio here?

And yes even if CP gets a "spectacular" water ride if will still pale in comparisson to a freaking giga , or even a hyper for that matter.. i know it sux but we gotta live with it ,cause families need rides too...... : (

i hate people who think cedar point wont build a certain type of ride just because they dont like it. Open your eyes your not going to get something just because you want it. Cedar Point always makes good investments and as long as we get something new im happy......as long as it is not a bathroom :)

By this are you saying that ANY RIDE ever built that is not a Giga or Hyper will suck? Because it sounds that way and to be honest, I would rather ride Gemini than TTD.

I think everyone would love a coaster, but I'm perfectly content with 17. Hell, I'm lucky to live only 1 1/2 hours away. Some of my favorite days in the park are when I only ride a few coasters and ride all the rides I usually don't any other time.

I gotta agree with u CPgeek , while most of us would love a new coaster we're not the ones who matter ,the GP are. and at this point we gotta realize that a coaster is , at this point , not impossible but unlikely . a water ride just makes more sense and as i said before im sure it will be great

99er i dont mean that at all , i just meant that to the GP ,what looks more impressive a giga or a water ride and i think any of those rides i listed are great,, im actually a big fan of the not so impressive rides

as to TTD vs Gemini if your talking about a 2 hr plus wait for a 17 sec ride compared to 15 min max for Gemini then your right .but straight up , if i had the choice to walk on either one ,i gotta go with TTD

I always used to think the biggest baddest coasters attracted people, but last week i saw different. I was at the park with some friend from out of state. We rode almost everything and the rides that appealed most to them were: the sky ride, DT, and mantis.

^^Well considering the park already has a Giga and Hyper, the GP is already impressed. You have to remember (as do A LOT of people on this site) that the park has to add attractions that cater to ALL groups, not just the general public that likes coasters.

99er you missunderstoud agian i was talking about 2010, KDs giga and Cws hyper will look more impressive than CPs water ride and i agree that we have to accept that families need rides too . i mean its been many years since the last family ride. so yeah , us coaster lovers cant be selfish

too all you saying that the big rides aren't for the GP then were any of you at CP on opening day where the line was 17 hours long... and they had employees whose jobs were to hold people's places in line to go to the restroom? Sounds like ONLY enthusiasts in line to me.

and when you go to the park and get in line, are you waiting in line for SRF or thunder canyon... no, but there is a 2 hour wait to ride TTD. It's obvious what rides attract people and what rides are there the fill the lineup or what-not. I have waited 3 hours in line to get a ride on millie or maverick and I doubt the line for this so called flume will get that long even on opening day. So, if you think a flume is for the GP your wrong, the GP going to Cedar Point to ride the tallest, fastest, steepest, longest, coasters in the world.

when ttd opened up, people from all different countries from all over the world traveled to ride it, a flume will never draw that..... CP wants to make money, they will build a coaster. Simple as that, which is what it hopefully will be....

So in your head Cedar Point revolves around you? Cedar Point decides what they are going to build not you. I cant go and ask them to build a wooden roller coaster and get one, or the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. Some people like me enjoy water rides. If i had to choose a roller coaster or flume i would choose a coaster, but i wouldn't mind something different. You need to understand that its time for family fun. As for the Coaster Wars, they will never be over, but its taking another approach than the tallest and fastest, such as maverick. There will be taller coasters one day but cedar point is taking a break. As for me nothing would make me happier than them installing a coaster and having 18, but i have accepted the fact of how unlikely the possibility is for this year. You should just be happy your getting anything at all. Cedar Point doesn't have to get a new ride this year so all of you stop your complaining. Its not like if they dont build a coaster people wont come. AND if it is a coaster i believe that it would be a water coaster. Finally like most other people i am getting annoyed of how you act like you know what Cedar Point is getting. Some people do know but i know i dont and im for sure you dont know.

i agree that coasters bring in a lot of people, including me , but not so much by themselves ,but when combined with a wide variaty of rides for everyone....... it brings in families, which is thier largest demographic , some will ride coasters some will ride family rides and the kids will ride kiddie rides. it is the variaty that draws people

I still think that the Mack water coaster idea makes so much sense... it is something really unique, would be family friendly, gives a water element (and possibly a dark element), AND adds to their coaster tally.

That's a lot of birds with one stone.

Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom

Pioneer Waterland

The Beach

There may be more. That's all I can think of.

Not to mention that the largest waterpark in the US is located in Wisconsin. Weather has no effect on water parks, Schlitterbahn in Texas only stays open a few (6-8) weekend days more then Noah's Ark in the Dells. Waterparks are quite profitable in northern states, we swim up here and in the summer temps climb into the 90s.

Any of you go to Maverick ride? If so did you catch the question that was thrown at Tony?
Question: What is new for 2010
Answer: "Well i can give you a hint.. SRF is not going anywhere. But maybe 400ft more track that dragster has now may not be out of the question."

His partner added yea we missed a hill on dragster.
Talking about Kingda Ka having the air time hill...

Could this be a hint? i have no idea anymore

OMG! That's a worse guess than the guy that said he thought CP was getting a topple tower!!!!! Come one, that hill on Kingda Ka gives no airtime and most people that have been on both think TTD is better.
