they'll probably narrow it down to a coaster or water ride ,,thats my guess. which that wont help us at all

i have followed all 124 pages of this thread and several others very closely ,,, and it seams pretty obviously that pointbuzz a.k.a. smart people are comfident its a water ride where as thepointonline a.k.a. day dreamers think its a "super" coaster . it would just be nice for one of us to be proved right...... obviously the "smart people"

Call me crazy guys, but looking at how much land they've cleared. There just does not seem to be enough room to put a coaster or a Flume in. Unless they plan to fill in the lagoon a little bit which is possible.

Who ever said the entire ride would reside on the island. Millennium Force sure doesn't

After watching the video about Mack's water rides here, I would have to say they would be, in my opinion, a breath of fresh air to the park. In fact, there are several family-friendly (dark and water ride) possibilties they offer that would be unique to CP, and to the entire Midwest.

Close attention paid to the "space-saving" feature of the rotating platform with the backward chute. I've personally never been on a flume ride that is travelling backwards.

Personally, I hope CP would just lose the "most coasters" record just to prove that they don't care what SFMM is doing. If you read any kind of reviews, that park does not get very high marks. Plus, between the 2 parks they probably share less than 1% of the same visitors a year. Why would they compete?

Although I find it to be kind of dumb, I think a certain CEO actually does care about those records. Not to the point that it makes or breaks decisions, but I believe it does enter the discussion. Now I am not saying that SFMM and CP compete for any certain guests, but Kinzel does want to keep Cedar Point on top in every regard. Take Intimidator for example, I don't think it is coincidence that its stats are slightly under MF's in almost every category.

I would also like to point out though that CP will not be losing the record for most coasters next year, nor will they be tied. Their marketing has never recognized Superman at SFMM as a coaster. So when springtime rolls around and it is time to print brochures claiming most coasters on the planet, their opinion is really the only one that matters.

Superman is as much of a coaster as Wicked Twister. Not that the marketing department will see it that way though.

I respect your opinion although I disagree. You mention research, concerning coasters, this is not typical of the GP. The coaster record is a HUGE marketing tool. I am not saying we are getting a coaster at CP but they should definitely be concerned about losing that title. Marketing is the a priority for CP as any business and the title of most coasters goes a long way when viewed by the GP. IMHO.

True, the GP does recognize that CP does have the most coasters. Yet, for some reason, they also think that Dragster is still the tallest and fastest coaster in the world. My point is, in my opinion, the GP only knows what they are told to them. They aren't looking for the information freely, like we do. If SFMM were take away the "title", with no media attention here, then the GP would still assume that Cedar Point has the most coasters. Heck, how much of the GP actually KNOW who's 2nd in the coaster count?

^^^ That is true. The GP basically gets there info from commercials and personal references. Since the two top dogs don't market much (if at all) in the competitors area the GP wont know that CP has lost (or tied) another park. I was just thinking that the "title" would go along way with marketing in the future.

For the people who are thinking the twitter post means they are trying to decide if they should go with a coaster or a water ride you are completely wrong. Cedar Point has known what they are getting this year for probably 3 or 4 years if not more. The ride parts are probably already made. The things they have to decide is probably things like name, finishing contracts with Adena and what they are going to do for the announcement.

Yeah, many GP were saying Diamondback was the tallest and fastest on earth, since they are advertising it as "The tallest and fastest coaster to ever strike Kings Island."

Yeah I believe the name was already picked a long time ago... Yes TTD was being planned when Mille was being built. Dick said a long time ago that they have a 5 year plan for expansions to the parks. Don't know if that holds true after the Paramount purchase.
