So... where do islanders go on vacation? Fargo?

;)

Brandon

They go to Disney World of course!! I can't get enough of the Mouse House.

Tim, did you get to Animal Kingdom? I haven't had the chance to get down there since Expedition Everest opened.

Are there going to be any lap belts on Mav or will just be OTSR w/ a crotch strap like Raptor & Screw?

Hopefully it'll be more like Raptor and less like Screw.

Most definitely. DAK is my favorite park. I'm a little biased, though because it opened while I was an Imagineer. I know its had difficulties because the average theme park visitor doesn't like to "discover" parks by wandering around like it was planned. That's why more "attractions" have been added like Everest. Honestly, I think Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain are more "thrilling", but its a cool ride nonetheless.

The amount of detail that went into that ride is just amazing. It's a shame the common park visitor doesnt know just how much care and detail went into making it.

^ - that's the same with anything though.

The average visitor to most places doesn't know the effort the goes into the planning and construction.

That's the way it is though, and as much as it pains fans of Disney, Cedar Point, Star Trek, the average person just doesn't CARE to know about it.

I agree that most people don't recognize the detail that goes into a ride. But, in the case of EE, the detail is mostly in the queue. There are huge parts of the ride that are just coaster and that annoys me. Plus, the coaster just sorta labors along the track. Big Thunder is always moving. In any case, the theming really serves no purpose if the ride itself isn't all that good.

I was also lucky enough to be at the Tour. It was a blast. Even though it was cold, there seemed to be very little wind, and the sky was virtualy cloudless. Considering the time of year, we had perfect conditions for taking pictures IMO. I'm still baffeled as to how Jeff and Walt can take such amazing panoramic pictures. I can never get mine to turn out like thet. Probably just a lack of technology on my part. From Jeffs pics, it looks like he was with Tony's group. I was with Bryan's group and we didn't walk the same path as they did. But I think my pitures turned out fairly well too.

In regards to the Trains, I would have to agree with jeff that they are basicly the same as Storm Runner's. I find them to be very accommodating. I think there will be far fewer complaints with this design. Even though I'm not a fan of OTSR.

"Intamin pitched some interesting designs though, based on some of the things they were batting around. You might be able to see them in those pictures of the sketches." Jeff

Jason or Jeff want to add any details to that? I think one of the sketches you can see from the pics shows a different layout but its tough for me to make out.

Great Update. I'd have to say this is the best update since the first update of the whole ride being done. What I mean is I loved the last update that showed Mavericks track all done, the sun is shining, and it's fall. I believe that one was a September update. I also want to thank everyone who took pictures on here. The Train shots are the Best. You guys were lucky to get that chance to go on tour. Who lets you into the gate this time of year? I am curious too about the trains. I'm trying to figure out where exactly and what garage the trains are in? Can someone help me out on this one?

Well, it looks like the restraints on Mav should be big enough to fit my wide frame (5'8" 230 lbs) As long as they aren't like those torture devices on CCMR, I can be happy. Come to think of it, those seats look VERY similar to the ones on MaXair. Either way, it looks like a cool ride!

One train is on the track, three in the parking lot, one in P&D. Not sure where the sixth is. What difference does it make? If you try to go see them you're going to get arrested for trespassing.

Not if you go up the chausee, they don't have anyone guarding that road. So you can get back there with no problem.

Dude I wasn't planning on visiting the park anytime soon. I was planning on going opening weekend. I just was just curious which building they were storing the trains. It's not like I'm a detective here...lol.

Well, from Jason's pictures it looks like they had a design for that 500 footer.

Just kidding (I think) but the one design looks much taller than Maverick.

It also looks like they were pitching side-by-side stations even into the later stages of the Maverick design.

And I love that one of their design inspirations was the Time Train in Back to the Future III. :)

Referring the the "Bart" on the gold train... Perhaps each train will have its own name. I didn't see a Bart sticker on any other train besides that one. Maybe Bret Brent Beau to go along with the TV show?
