More Downtime

I popped up the cleveland.com cam after I got home from work on Saturday morning. I saw a few trains go over sometime around 8:00am and thought "Sweet, they got the part." Seems though that they're still testing it or the new part went kerflooie or something, as I haven't seen it run since (I bring up the cam every once in a while, just to see what I can see for a few).

If I had been thinking, and hadn't had such an annoying night at work, I would have done a quick screenshot or something. But I didn't. Whoops.

Everyone from the Dragster crew was reassigned to Wicked Twister, which, ironically enough, went down the other day too. lol...

I highly doubt after talking with a few more current and former employees that Dragster will come back and open to the public.

Not all of them moved to Wicked Twister. At WT I saw a little WT crew, a little MF crew, and little Paddlewel crew, and a couple others. I know that the TL of Dragster was at MF last Friday night and then at Sky Ride on Saturday. There were also a couple other TTD crew members at MF.

I think they're just throwing people wherever they need them, like I asked one crew member where he was and said "wherever" and then he was at Wildcat the next day.

I guess Dragster being down is actually helping out the massive understaffness that they have later in the season.

I saw the Detroit TV spot for Halloweekends today. Noticed that there were no shots of TTD at all. In contrast, I think most of the spots that ran over the summer had it in them.

"Interesting," or "Meh"... YOU decide!

By the by, my opinion is that, even if they did get the thing going last Saturday, as I saw, they're not going to open it to the public for the rest of the season, nor will they release any info on the actual status of the ride. With only a few weeks left, they're not gonna screw around with it. I say good. Why half-tail it for two, three days a week for 6 or so weeks when you can test it without guests before/after operating hours and during the off-season?

Add in the chance that the thing falls apart after running it for a couple of weeks because the new part hasn't been tested enough/wasn't the right size/etc., then the park closes for the season... Not good publicity. Pull some BS, tell the public that it, like other rides, is closed for the rest of the limited season, get it fixed, and let the fanboys/girls run off on PB for a few months during the winter.

Also, I screamed like a eight-year-old girl the first and only time I rode TTD. I was goofed on by the chick I was with. And I liked it. Ain't no shame. :+)

^Why would CP keep TTD's downtime a secret? They've never done that before nor are they doing it now.

They want to have the ride up and running ASAP. you can bet on that.

I had business over at the marina the other day, Venitian Marine if you must know. at any rate, we, yes we saw a car go up the hill roll back. thats all.

I would not of mentioned it if Iit hadent happened, so please do not assume otherwise, I have been around here long enough to know better, and wouldnt make up something just to have something to do.

ok, working at CP, and having actually spent time at Venetian Marina pool area, its pretty hard to see a train... doesn't mean you CAN'T SEE a train, but if they had business at Venetian, WHY would he be sitting there STARING waiting for a train to go up, ESP knowing it was closed...

not gonna happen.

What if one of his friends spotted it going and was like "OMG LOOK there goes Dragster!!!" :)

I talked to him and I straightened things out, because if you notice I had disagreed with him. He said it was around "lunch time" and I got there around 1ish, so it must have been before that. I mention though, that it's not easy to see the trains on Dragster from the Venetian marina, and the entire time I was at the park, all 6 trains were on the transfers.

OK then.:)

I would more then love to head up there in Oct. But I have to work :(. So my next trip will be in '06 :). Hope Dragster open's up soon, so I can see it in action on the webcams. ;)

In the webcam this morning it looks like there is only one train on the transfer track.

They didn't. He did. He worked there this season..
