How long has TTD been down now, three weeks???
Don't you think the part should almost be here??
Anyone that has or does work at TTD now, do you know how long the part that has been ordered would take to have installed???

At least a day, maybe more. Replacing a motor takes about 3 or 4 hours. A gearbox requires all 16 motors be removed and later replaced.
Shipping parts takes a long time. The gearbox could get held up in customs or stuck in the middle of a yard for weeks. These types of items don't have tracking services so they get there when they get there. From now, it could take 2 days or 2 months.
that really sucks, so Cedar Point could either get the parts that they are waiting for really quick or take for ever. Most likely the part has been on the way to Cedar Point for awhile now??

Wow so it seems that it is the shipping that is holding everything up.
I bet Cedar point Can't wait till the parts arrive so they can hurry up and install the new parts and get the ride running again as soon as possible.

I'd bet CP Maintenance is loving the extended downtime. They can focus on other things that need attention.

MrScott does raise a very good point, I never thought of it that way.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Yeah, well they better enjoy it while it lasts because they'll have to put in some serious time once the part comes.;)

Somebody at thepointol.com reported seeing Dragster doing test runs on Friday (16th).
Although he didn’t specify if it was test running or if the trains were just off of the transfer.
Can anybody confirm or disprove this in anyway.

It was in the discussion forums. I'm trying to get the kid to tell me more info. But he might be lying since nobody else can vouch for him.
Then again who knows, maybe it was an early test that he caught on the webcam (wishful thinking). I for one think he just caught a transfer of the trains on to the main track and then back.
I'm not sure about that though. And that's why I want anybodies input on this.

And this is news?;)

While at the Point this past Sunday a friend of mine asked the ride host at the entrance of another ride about the status of Dragster. This employee said that the rumor was that it may be up by October 8th and that a gear or something had to be specially made. I frequent these forums enough to know that even if employees DO know something, they are usually not allowed to say much to guests. I take all info like that with a grain of salt, but I was wondering why an employee would divulge this much detail even if this was the truth. I would think that they would know they were putting their job on the line, or would they be allowed to tell us this kind of information?
Back when WT had its first major breakdown in 2002 I talked to some guy who looked to be of some importance and basically said there's a part that needed to be specially made/ordered overseas. That was true too.
Saying that, I'd have to say svolk is right, but the exact date can't be confirmed since CP has no idea how well the ride will run after the part is installed.

svolk, that particular employee may also figure he's near the end of his contract and doesn't care. Or there are so many rumors going around that management can't stop them all.
Goodbye MrScott

I was there the entire evening on the 16th and didn't see any trains going up on Dragster. In fact, they were all stacked on the transfer tracks around opening that evening. I spent the weekend at the park and there was no activity on TTD each time I walked by it.

Dragster has been listed as Doubtful on the Injury Report.
Dragster is about as reliable as Lee Suggs, they have had similar careers starting in 03 :)
