More Downtime

From what I understand, and the impression I got from Park Operations was that they "are waiting for a part," but I don't doubt it will still be down for a while.
TTD 120mph - I think that they would put it on their website, if they knew for sure there was no chance of it reopening this year; not to mention that there would probably be something about it in the Sandusky Register if it were not to reopen this season.

If it doesn't open this year, I'll still come to Cedar Point. Top Thrill Dragster had a heck of a year this year. It has run incredibly almost perfect every time I go. Maybe a breakdown for 10-20 minutes if it did go down at all. I'm proud that I was able to ride Top Thrill Dragster twice in one day in the front seat in one day.

Do you mean something like this:

http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=716

don't count on Sandusky Register to keep the public upto date on dragster, lol... its old news.

True, they should not be relied on to "keep the public up to date," but to date, they have often had an article when it is closed for an extended period of time ( http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=716 ), and often atleast a short blurb when it reopens from being closed for an extended period of time (over a week or so). Here are a few examples of when they have done such stories:
http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=463
http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=438 (Toledo Blade)
http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=372
It's not like they do a story on a daily basis as to whether its open or not. It just seems that when it has been down for a while, they often do a followup story when it reopens. Granted there hasn't been much extended downtime this year that would result in such a story; until now.

Cedar Point is no Six Flags Great Adventure... but yeag, it would be nice.

I would think so, but I just want to be certain.

You would think with news like this that reporters or someone would get wind of it. Shouldn't this have surfaced on the news already? This was the world record holder for 420 ft and having such a great year then all of the sudden, possibly closed for the rest of the season???

TTD has only had a great run this season if you WEREN'T one of the people stuck on the platform past closing time -- a couple of trains from getting on -- when the ride shut down and then suffered the indignation of being herded off the platform back through the entrance by cops/security personnel. Like we were going to stage a riot of something. I think this type of heavy-handed approach really endears CP to its customer base.

As the true believers like to point out, new coasters -- and coasters in general -- have problems. But frankly, I'd like to see a breakdown of the percentage of time TTD has been up and running during guest hours over the past three years vs. the amount of downtime. But, of course, the customer-service titans of Cedar Point never would provide that kind of information to its customers or would-be customers. Such data might discourage people from coming to the park, which, at last check, was experiencing a slide in attendance.

TTD is a great ride, when it's functioning. But now that it's no longer the record-holder, I say make it work on a consistent basis or dismantle the beast and move on with something else that would be innovative and work on a regular basis.

Isn't the tower of TTD yellow, the same color as a LEMON?????

Boatman, I've seen trouble break out plenty of times when a ride shuts down, especially when it happens after park closing and the ride doesn't reopen.

Some guests get very angry and believe that the only reason they are being refused a ride is because the crew just wants to go home. Without presence of the cops, that poor crew would be left to deal with a lot of angry guests by themselves and that isn't right.

Besides, why shouldn't the police officers be there? It's not like there is anything else going on in the park after closing.

I'm sure that you would never cause a riot or abuse a ride op, but not every guest is as perfect as you. You shouldn't take offence at the escort, but rather be thankful that the cops are there to prevent any problems. They do happpen. :)

Doesn't look like there's any activity going on yet on the ride. Hope the ride works for Halloweekends. I hate to see the crowds of people walk by a closed TTD.

I'd rather the crowds of people not show up at all because TTD is closed. That'll leave more room in the park for me October 28-30.

I think that we all really need to see some kind of action taking place at or around TTD so we know that something is being done besides knowing that the part is on order??? I hope along with TTD 120MPh about some sort of progress, soon very soon!!
