The GP (general public) doesn't want a boring ride, either.
Maybe; but the general public definition of boring and the enthusiasts so keen on coasters they hang out on Internet websites about coasters and parks definition of boring are two different things.
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.
Ill agree with noggin on this of definition of boring between enthusiast and GP.
However, the park could use some more of that free advertising they get from Travel Channel, Trip Advisor and other media from extreme and mega thrill rides.
I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin, without the travel channel show on CP we saw in 2007 we never heard of Cedar Point and when we tell people about it they assume it's like six flags Great America and can't believe we'd drive 8 hours to go to it. We obviously correct them and I have brought over 40 people from here since 2007 to the point.
As an aside on perceptions, most people think Green Bay is a larg metropolitan city because we have an NFL team. In reality it's a city about 4 times the population of Sandusky, with three close surrounding communities about the same size as Sandusky.

I never understood as a kid what my dad meant when he would say we are spoiled living by a park like Cedar Point. As an adult once I started actually looking around at what else was available other places I got it. It finally made sense why I would see license plates from so far away in the parking lot.
Even when Valravn was announced, a lot of people were saying Cedar Point should get an RMC on the Facebook page. The general public is more knowledgable than ever before. Nobody is asking for a GCI retracking of Mean Streak. Prowler, Renegade, American Thunder are all good rides, but they aren't great rides. RMCs are all great rides.

This!
Not only are we spoiled to have Point here in our backyards but Ohio in general has always been spoiled. Think about it. Up until the 2008 season we had 3 amusement parks in this state with 10+ coasters. On top of that we have Kennywood a short day trip from most of the state. I think Ohioans as a whole take for granted how lucky we are with not only the quantity of rides we have available to us but the quality.

Can't deny quality attractions, Joe shmo or not. RMC steel conversion. 201' tall. 200' drop. 3 trains. Longest, tallest, fastest, steepest(?)RMC ever.
That would certainly be a selling point. They tore down the only other 200ft tall wooden coaster. I wonder if RMC could have saved that one.

And at the time my dad was pointing out how spoiled we were I lived smack dab equal driving distance between Cedar Point and Geauga Lake and was visiting both at least once per year sometimes twice when my friends and I would manage to arrange going with each others' families if we saved our own money for admission. People joke about Ohio but really we have quite a lot of nice stuff and we are in a good location for it to be a reasonable drive to things we don't have.

The refurbished GhostRider is scheduled to open this coming weekend at Knott's. It will interesting to read the reviews. I'm going to bet they don't say the ride is "boring".
Even enthusiasts will like the newly renovated GhostRider. Because GhostRider always had an intense, airtime-packed layout that was allowed to deteriorate and trimmed to death. Keeping it the same while removing the trims and doing a full retrack fixes GhostRider.
Mean Streak also runs rough (albeit they do work to keep it tolerable) and has also been trimmed a lot. Mean Streak, however, has a mediocre layout from the start, as opposed to Ghostrider. It spends a lot of time doing flat turns, has only 2 or 3 potential airtime moments (all of which are ruined by the trims and MCBR now, and would pale in comparison to some other woodies even with no trims.) The Ghostrider treatment might improve Mean Streak, but it still wouldn't be a world class coaster. Going the next step further - RMC - would create an epic coaster.
CP should build a from-scratch GCI like Gold Striker and make their next steel coaster RMC Mean Streak. They have the framework there to save money on what could quite literally be the best steel coaster in the world. (Just look at how high NTAG ranks among enthusiasts, and consider that RMC Mean Streak would likely be taller, faster, and longer.)
(Besides, Mean Streak's reputation is so tarnished among GP and enthusiasts alike that a renovation that keeps the name wouldn't attract all the potential riders back.)
