I am obviously a very harsh critic of MS, however I never wanted the ride torn down as I personally think of that structure as an iconic image of Cedar Point. I cannot think of any new ride/conversion that CP could possibly do that would be more exciting than an RMC conversion of MS. Not only keeping much of the structure but breathing new life into it and in all likelyhood turning it into a world class well liked coaster would be amazing.
I hope the rumors are true, and I think there are enough signs in place to be optimistic... however I am still very skeptical at this point.
If it is true, I expect RMC to pull out everything and the kitchen sink on this thing. I'm sure they understand what a collosal thing it is to get into Cedar Point, Best Amusement Park and Collection of Coasters in the world. That makes me even more amped then I thought I possibly could be already. I can't imagine what they have in store for this beast of a ride.
Top 5: (1) Superman the Ride (2) Millennium Force (3) Maverick (4) Leviathan (5) Diamondback
If this ends up happening I really hope they consider connecting the MS plaza to the Gemini midway. Yes there are matinence buildings between but there is a small sliver of land along the train tracks that could be used to build a path. I just wish they would get rid of the dead end. Since they did it for Blue Streak I could definitely see them doing it by Mean Streak.

History is not a good model on whether 2017 will bring a conversion to Mean Streak. While there is a "trend" of huge additions not being added year after year, it has happened. Honestly, there haven't been many "quiet years" since 1987.....
1987- Iron Dragon
1988- Soak City
1989- Magnum
1990- $4.5 million transformation for Disaster Transport/Soak City expansion
1991- Mean Streak
1992- Bear Country/Challenge Park
1993- Snake River Falls
1994- Raptor
1995- Summer Spectacular/Soak City Expansion
1996- Mantis
1997- Chaos
1998- Power Tower
1999- Camp Snoopy/Breakers Tower/Breakers Express
2000- Millennium Force
2001- Lighthouse Point
2002- Wicked Twister
2003- Top Thrill Dragster
2004- Castaway Bay
2005- MaxAir
2006- Skyhawk
2007- Maverick
2008- Planet Snoopy
2009- Starlight Experience
2010- Shoot the Rapids
2011- Windseeker
2012- Celebration Plaza/Dragster H20, Dinosaurs Alive
2013- Gatekeeper
2014- Pipescream/Gemini Midway Refurb
2015- Rougarou/Hotel Breakers
2016- Valravn
There really is no pattern. Some years (2002-2003) saw back to back additions. There are very few years that little capital was spent with the exception of the recession (2008-2012). With the exception of that period, we saw large thrill rides added every two years. Last year saw a huge spike in attendance, and I think we may be seeing continued growth through the park's 150th anniversary. Also remember that Valravn probably wasn't more than $20 million (the Register listed it at $15 million). A conversion probably will cost around $10-12 million.
Bottom line? Anything is possible.

... I think it is safe to assume that Eden Musee wont be one of this years houses at HAUNT correct? I cant imagine allowing people that close to an active construction zone.
Depends on what part of the structure they would be working on at that time. It wouldn't be difficult to have a path, walled off of course, to the haunted house while construction still goes on around it. Stuff like this happens at parks all of the time.
I'm fairly certain that the T-Rex track is for ground up all steel coasters. Unless they are going to tear down MS and build a brand new coaster which I do not see happening since Valravn debuted this year. I can absolutely see an Iron Horse treatment of MS happening though since it's not technically a brand new coaster.

That would be a fun trend. Would you put the GCI where STR was as a new wooden coaster?
I think a new flume would be great. I do miss paddlewheel, if they do away with the dinosaurs.
