So did anyone ask about this at Coastermania today?
Or all you are still riding Wilderness Run ERT...
Promoter of fog.
Tony said during the Q&A that Mean Streak was a forbidden topic.

I forgot all about the Wilderness Run ERT, it was, at least until tonight one of the only rides the "Single Rider ____" wearing T-shirt folks were unable to throw little kids out of their way to get on.
Found this photo on twitter. A diffferent angle, and the flag moved a little on the pole, covering up "rmc" now.
I almost feel like we are the only ones crazy enough to take pictures of markings before construction starts/before any type of announcement or rumor... cause I literally can't find ANY other markings before a RMC project.

Burritos, Inspiration Point, Fork Balloon Sports, Cards in the Spokes, Automatic Biographies, Kites, Kung Fu, Trophies, Banana Peels We've Slipped On and Egg Shells We've Tippy Toed Over
I usually don't bother getting into ride speculation this early or at all but I find this kind of interesting because 1. Why would it be a forbidden topic if there was nothing in the works? It would be just as easy to say nothing is happening if indeed nothing were happening. 2. There would be no reason to adjust a stupid little piece of marking tape/flag to cover up letters unless they meant something. Or Tony wants to mess with us that's possible too but it is strange. Either way I'm going to make sure I get my enjoyment (yes, I'm crazy) out of Mean Streak in its present form this season so I'll have no regrets about whatever happens next season.
Having that little stake is a great way to make Mean Streak more popular this season. I'll be riding it too, and it's not out of enjoyment for the ride itself.

No, it's because no other park has such a great fan-based website that brings us all together.

I doubt anyone moved the flag to purposely hide something, it was probably the wind. Didn't someone earlier explain that RMC on that stake means "rigid metal conduit", it does not mean Rocky Mountain Construction?
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
If it stands for "rigid metal conduit" it's still a marker that would indicate some kind of work going on in the future that requires them knowing where it is. They may have covered the "RMC" because they don't want us to think it's Rocky Mountain if it isn't, or they want it to be a surprise, or Tony could be messing with us, or someone tied the tape back on not paying attention...I wouldn't bother even thinking about it at all if there wasn't orange spray paint on the footers. Whatever is involved my gut feeling just tells me something is changing.
I found yellow spray paint on another few footers, I have no idea how to post pictures here, so I posted it on my Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/BGPknOpijVD/

Although mentioning Mean Streak was one of the forbidden topics, someone did ask about GCI's refurbishment of GhostRider, and if Cedar Fair is considering having GCI re-track any other underachieving coasters. Of course, no answer was given about future projects, but I did find the gleaming reviews of GhostRider's refurbishment insightful. (The words "Best wooden coaster ever" do carry a lot of weight.) Of course, they pointed out that their reviews mattered little, and guest feedback will shape future plans greatly once GhostRider opens next week.
And yes, Wilderness Run ERT was fun, although they only were giving one lap around. To my surprise, I fit quite comfortably, despite being tall. Too bad they were not running the photo booth when I rode, I would have purchased a picture.
While RMC can indeed be an acronym for rigid metallic conduit I have never once seen a survey stake telling a crew where RMC would be placed. Detailed electrical drawings would dictate what type of underground conduit was to be placed where on a project, not a survey marker. While I no longer work in the electrical field I did for many years and never once, on any site did I see something that would make me believe that RMC is referring to the type of underground conduit that is/was to be used.
Just for the average Joes out there (like me) who don't know much about construction. Here is a chart on what each color means.

There are survey monuments marked all the way through the Soak City parking lot towards the Resort entrance, including one just inside of the Resort gate. At first I thought perhaps it had something to do with underground utility work for the new water tower but that makes no sense for any of the markings around MS.
If you look at the original picture of the "RMC stake", it appears that the marker used to draw the triangle and 18 appear to be different than the RMC scribbled at the top. Of course this is just my opinion but I think the RMC is more likely someone at the park having some fun, especially as the tape has now covered it.
Either way, those dots on the footers are real so something must be happening. But what is Project 2017? Mean Streak, Soak City, or Shoot the Rapids? I doubt they will do more than one of these for 2017. Carowinds and Kings Island only got their waterpark expansions with a few small in park improvements. But they didn't do 2 major improvements in one a year.

I took the survey maker to mean that is where some existing metal conduit is, maybe marked for digging purposes, not that a new conduit would be placed there.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,

That is indeed possible, although typically existing underground work would be marked with dashed lines for the outer boundaries and then dots in the field where the utility was located. Survey markers, at least in my experience wouldn't tell one the specific type of conduit that was buried.
That being said I've also never seen a survey marker that has the contractors initials scribbled at the top either. I could rationalize RMC in this instance to be the conduit type rather than the company.
My best guess still remains that RMC means someone is having fun, and doing a good job at it.
