Mean Streak- Redone

Ohh, that makes sense. The first hill was so weird with that last time I rode. I wish it didn't wreck the track because they kind of ruin what fun the ride actually could be. I know I'll only be riding it at night from now on...and only if it's a walk on.

I wish they would at least move the trimms so the first hill would be a free fall like when it was new.

I kinda like the walk on nature of Mean Streak. Once I learned to ride it, I had a great time this summer hanging out back there when the park got crowded.

I don't like the walk-on nature myself because it could be a good draw from the other big coasters. It's kind of a waste of space, so big yet such low ridership. It's too bad Maverick is virtually the lone coaster in that corner with such long lines with no competition really.

I learned how to ride it, too, this summer. I know it's only my opinion, but the ride is a big dud to me in its current trimmed condition.

You think it would make that much of a difference in other coaster lines?

I don't think it's a total dud. In the very front, it has it's rewards.

I think tearing down mean streak and building a new RMC wooden coaster similar to El Toro would be the best idea. Then build a new midway connecting the gemini midway to the train station.

I think something good would pull some heat off of Maverick. You don't think? Maverick is typically one of the worst lines in the park, it could use some real competition back there to disperse the crowds.

Wasn't El Toro an Intamin woodie?

That being said, I do agree about Maverick needing a diversion. I haven't ridden it since its opening year because the line is almost always the worst line in the park.

It might. Maybe we'll find out if they replace it with something better.

We got a trimless ride yesterday. It was awesome. We ran back around to get back on hoping maybe it would happen again but the portal to the other dimension had closed...

Recently rode a GCI coaster at the Fun Spot in Orlando. White Lightning. Interesting hybid - metal support structure with wooden track (reverse of Gemini). Not a big coaster, but what a ride! Fast, banked curves and smooth with just enough bump to remind you its a woody.

GCI recently finished a much bigger coaster for the Cedar Fair park in Northern CA. Gold Striker. Based on pics on their website, reminds me of MS in some aspects.

So, here's food for thought. Was Cedar Fair giving GCI a shot at a product for one of their parks so they could see if they lived up to their hype? Then, if it is well received and holds up well, they target MS for replacement say 3-5 years from now using a GCI coaster. Just thinking out loud.

CF has used GCI for all of its wooden coasters since Renegade in 2007

As much as I love Mean Streak, I would love seeing a GCI or RMC in its place even better.

Hey, How was Gold Striker? Was it smooth or a little bumpy? Also how is Renegade? Is that a fun wooden roller coaster?

I'd like to know about Gold Striker as well. I'm planning in being in that area next April and am looking forward to riding it. Haven't seen any reviews of it.

It needs the New Texas Giant treatment, but with Topper Track. I'll just wait patiently, it'll come soon, soon....

Nice concept. However, GateKeeper is basically the better conceptual "flying" coaster. The chances of a Flying Coaster coming to the Point are slim to none. They already have GateKeeper, and Flyers have horrid capacity.

^ I've seen this rendering before and cannot tell what wooden roller coaster you guys substituted in place of Mean Streak? I know Intamin has a rough track record lately, but I would think it would be cool to have something similar to El Toro come in on Mean Streak layout.

In all fairness, your post had two sentences, with both of them being declarative. Granted, one of them had a question mark, but that alone does not make it a question.

Unless you're just curious as to views of your post, in which case, yes, I saw your post, so +1!

Well I was curious to that and what people think of having INTAMIN come in and do their magic on Mean Streak. Would it be worth it? I think it could be done. Maybe create a steeper drop on Mean Streak like some of these new wooden roller coasters out there. What do you guys think. Thank you Scottyf for responding. ;)

I think the drop is plenty steep enough if they would let us actually free fall down it without the trims. Seriously, last Sunday's trimless ride was like 1991 all over again. It was a completely different coaster. Not perfect and I'm sure there is more exciting stuff out there that I haven't had the chance to experience but just doing away with the trims somehow would make it so much better.
