Useless and such a waste to what I believe to be CP's best spot! IMO the back of an amusement park should house one of the park's top attractions... Make the guests travel the entire park, better utilizing all existing park space by spreading the crowds out! With Gatekeeper bringing the crowds to the front of the park, MF/TTD taking care of the middle, the Gemini Midway getting it's makeover, it only makes sense that CP would next be thinking of giving Maverick a side-kick! Imagine the view coming up the causeway with a new attraction in MS's place taking over the view! Just a thought... I do think a woodie is in CP's future, just not yet and not at MS's location. If CP were to do a new woodie, it would be a biggee and a substantial investment! Maybe CP is waiting to see how the new/larger woodies that have been built recently, take on the years and cost to maintain in that span before making a large investment on a woodie? The Mean Streak experience as a whole is not what CP expected from such a large investment on a wood coaster IMO.... CP is not like any other park, they have to build large/record breaking attractions every time they build to keep their reputation. They also have to build nothing but high capacity attraction no matter what, so that rules out a lot of options!
Mean Streak just needs some updating and refurbs. It is a great and quite large coaster, and is a beautiful structure. It is also one of the longest rides in the park. If anything, if you think the back of the park needs a giant, new steel coaster, then you must be missing out on Maverick, where the lines are always 2 hours and a bigger coaster like Mean Streak is usually a walk-on. So what I am saying is it's not that MS is bad, it is just the people are missing out on it.
Arms Down, Head Back, and Hold On!...Arms Down!...Arms Down......
The park technically does not need anything, no park with one of every kind of attraction really needs to upgrade any year! But unfortunately today's amusement/theme market is quickly expanding due to the demand to be bigger/faster, new technology, popularity and competition! You can only drive that 2000 Ferrari (MF) and that 2003 Lambo (TTD) for so long, before they lose that new car vibe... My point is that those cars are nice and still fun but I've been driving them for over a decade! Everybody else is getting new, cutting-edge cars that are just as good if not better! It's like a restaurant that's been running the same special for the last ten years, while all it's competition is changing from time to time keeping customers interested and eager to try new things! CP has a lot of coasters, but have been rather quiet since 2003, only building 2 since then! Other parks may not have the foundation CP has but have been much more active over that period with their coaster additions! If you go back to the 90's and compare the attendance of CP to Six Flags Great Adventure, there will be no match! Now do that today...? SFGA is holdin it's own and is a force to be reckoned with today! You have to always give the crowd something new or they'll try new things! IMO CP will make a safe, solid addition to the park for 2015! Something high capacity, reliable and something that will stand well over time. Just my thoughts

I think tearing down mean streak and building a new RMC wooden coaster similar to El Toro would be the best idea. Then build a new midway connecting the gemini midway to the train station.
what's that green coaster to the right
I don't think that is Cedar Point, but Maverick is in there. That is not what Mean Streak looks like.

Alex, that is Rcoaster10's idea in a picture. It's not supposed to be Mean Streak. I'm not sure what the green coaster is though.

This is cedar point because you can see the old carousel building to the right. Plus you can see the antique cars and the buildings after you get off the train. This is what the guy thinks the new Mean Streak will look like (GCI/RMC).
So since this is cedar point, I wanted to know what the green coaster was.
That would not be what Mean Streak would look like, it's what a completely different wood coaster would look like. Likely, that and the green coaster are from another park or parks, and this image was created in Photoshop.
Tony Clark just tweeted that he recommended riding Mean Streak! I guess that means Mean Streak gets floorless trains too next year!!!! YAY!!!!!
IMO I don't think anything will be happening to Mean Streak this year.

It's clear from their tweets that Mantis will get an RMC makeover and Mean Streak will get floorless trains :)
More like, it's clear from their Twitter posts that there is nothing to be drawn from their Twitter posts. :)

Cedar Point is going all out, I heard Intamin will be making all the necessary changes to these coasters!
My wife and I rode Mean Streak yesterday and it was not an enjoyable ride for either of us (and my wife normally loves wooden roller coasters). The only thing that could have possibly made that ride any more dreadful is if we would have actually waited in line to get on it.
I agree that the structure is beautiful and it looks like it has the potential to be a fun ride but man is it rough.
Try riding in the front seat of a car. Even if it's not the actual front of the train, the ride will be smoother with less lateral roughness.
