Maverick Track Replacement

Do you realize how crazy it sounds? They take out the heartline roll, replace it with a s-curve, ride opens, season ends, s-curve removed, new heartline roll put in. I hope you realize the money involved for something as small as a single element being replace by a s-curve (which by all means doesn't sound that by).

Everyone think back to TTD's train theming. Now think about that on a much larger scale and you have Maverick's issue. Say goodbye in to the heartline roll, because Maverick now twist you upside down TWO times and features an narrow s-curve through a canyon at high speeds. *** Edited 5/19/2007 1:24:57 AM UTC by Gomez***

I ment not opening Maverick at all this year and fixing it with the new heartline roll and open it when they're done. That would be dumb if they had a temporary track segment, and I agree would be expensive.

To reply to the "reprimanding parent".
No. Just a disappointed kid that lives 634miles away from CP and goes there once every year or every other year, that has had some bad experiences with CP the last few times.

To reply to the Inversion Cemetery... don't forget Drachen Fire. If I can remember, I think that ride used to have 6 inversions and they removed the 6th one a year after it was open. Then closed and demolished it a few years later.

I thought that the track was produced here in the states. Or is that B&M I am thinking of that does that?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

B&M is the company that has coaster track fabricated in Ohio.

Thrills Around the Corner!

In terms of the S-curve, that's a roll-out, or axial S, as opposed to a serpentine S, isn't it? I don't see how they could do anything else in the canyon. So that makes it straight track, for all intents and purposes.

Wow. I can't say I'm all that excited for this coaster. The hill height and intensity was restricted to make it a "family coaster," and now they've upped the height requirement and taken out an element. This ride definitely isn't all it promised, and it promised way more than it delivered.

And before everybody sets my bandwagon on fire, let me say that nobody loves a new coaster more than me. However, nobody loves Cedar Point more than me, and I liked the fact that it still had a decent flume ride. I would MUCH rather they had explored other options to deliver a world class coaster elsewhere in the park, rather than deciding to take out a ride they felt was disposable and then trying to fit a "family coaster" in its footprint.

Sigh. Yeah, I'll ride it, but I'll wait 'til the lines go down.

I got nothin'.

^ I agree 100% with you..they say its such a " family " coaster when it has a 95 degree drop a 400 ft. launching tunnel and is about 5 feet off the ground with twists and turns most of the ride.. I miss WWL..and i wish they woulda taken something else out also..now that they took the heartline roll out i am very dissapointed.

And do you guys think that Maverick will have a station similar to Millennium Forces or like TTD's station. when they let a bunch of people in and chaos finding where you are. and what part you are waiting for *** Edited 5/20/2007 3:34:51 PM UTC by Jerreus***

Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27

Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini

Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-

peacetrain,
They can always change the hight requirement in the future. In 2000, Millennium Force had a taller height requirement than it does today. I can't remember exactally what it was, but 54" comes to mind.

^ yea, i think you are right. MF was 54" if i remember right.

im a freak for cp

Wow. Some people here sound like they've already tried Maverick. Amazing.

When was this officially called a "family coaster"? I thought it was just aimed to be fun.

peacetrain... wow. Do you judge people before you even meet them too?

1. S-curve means it moves in the general shape of an S. It is not straight track.

2. It was never designed to be a family coaster. It was designed to be a less intimidating fun coaster that didn't scare people away like MF of TTD tend to do.

3. If you like your head being whipped into OTSR's then perhaps Maverick would have been for you. The heartline was not meant to be.

I'm glad I won't be hearing you bitch and moan in line about what you think Maverick should have been.

MBFD

I wondered quietly to myself, when CP stated there were issues relating to the heartline, why the designer placed such a tight inversion at the bottom of a hill right after a 70 mph launch.

At Kings Dominion, when the Volcano was built, some people wondered why the park did not place some inversions right after the 1st launch instead of a 180 degree high banked turn. It was either the park spokesperson or ride designer that responded that the trains had too much momentum to take an inversion without "breaking the necks" of the riders. The trains had to dissipate some of the energy before entering an inversion.

I am not sure who designed Volcano but, Intamin built it. Our big issue the first year was that the ride designer/manufacturor underestimated the power needed to generate launch the trains. KD had to remove half of the seating on each train in order to open the ride that year. It was not until the 2nd year of operation that the power grid was doubled and the trains could run at full capacity.

Yeah, then it self destructed last year. Another small Intamin flaw.

The inversions on Volcano are too slow and drop you in the harnesses. You almost feel like you're moving in slow motion through the rolls.

It ranks up there with Steel Venom. At least SV didn't have any passengers on it when it decided it didn't want to run anymore.

Ride on, MrScott!

Just wanted to let you know that the new track is onsite and is being installed either today or on Tuesday.

Did your area manager tell you that (cause he was wrong last time), or did you see it with your own eyes? ;)

A loose bolt that slipped partially is not an Intamin design flaw. It was a maintenance issue. ALL steel coasters have to be inspected at least on a yearly basis to make sure all bolts are tightened up per the specs. If Viacom/CBS were cutting corners on their maintenance last year, then I can see why this was an issue. I find it hard to believe a 9 year old coaster self-destructed because of one loose bolt. Give me a break !

I think that is why they call it a thrill ride. I would rather be in a slow inversion 100 ft in the air than to go through an inversion so fast that I feel a little G-force and then try to think, did I go through a loop?, a heartline?, the bottom of a hill? trust me, some B(oring) & M(undane) coasters are that way (and some are not).

It ranks up there with Steel Venom. At least SV didn't have any passengers on it when it decided it didn't want to run anymore.

It seems this forum should be renamed the Intamin pissing group. Strange for Cedar Point to have 2-3 of the best coasters in the world and none are B&M's. Could a CP regular tell me the manufacturer of those?

Arrow Dynamics designed #1.

And Bolliger and Mabillard designed #2.

And Intamin designed Millennium for #3.

There you go.

Is that sorta like "The Ohio State"?

The Intamin. It has a nice ring to it. :)

Fixed it. I didn't even realize I did that. I had meant to type And. Which is really close to The. I mean, the letters are all on the keyboard, so they're kinda close together.
