Well thats some questions answered.

An "S" curve should work fine with the existing footers IMO.

Not to be the destroyer of hope because I want to ride myself but I smell another Darchen Fire.

Ultimate Ride= Expidition G Force
Best US Ride= Millenium Force

What's Darchen Fire?

Mav is still going to rock. I can't wait to ride.

Magnum had a lot of track removed after its first year as well. Maverick is a lot different from Drachen Fire.

Well, let me be the first to say that I'm a bit disappointed with the S-curve. I know Maverick will deliver with or without the heartline roll, but I still think CP is lacking in the inversion department. Many true coaster fans tend not to be inversion fans, but if you ask the general public what their favorite coaster is at CP, 4 out of 5 people will say Raptor. Is it because of the inversions? I don't know, but Raptor is the loopiest coaster at CP. Your thoughts?

I tend not to like inversions that much because I usually whack my head on a restraint. However, I DO love Raptor. It's one of the few that I don't have head banging issues with. But, if this is what it takes to open Maverick, so be it. It's unfortunate the roll has to go because it looks soooooooo hot. But, oh well.

I'm totally cool with coasters having very few or no inversions.

Still should be a great ride! Looking forward to making a trip to the Point!

I remember awhile back when the ride was first being talked about. Someone said that they were concerned about the heartline roll being too intense when taken at that speed. I don't know who posted it or what thread it is in (and I'm not going to take the time to look) but I do remember that the person was bashed for thinking that the designers could possibly make a mistake with the ride. Anyway, I guess that the person was right.

It is a shame that this ride will be made less exciting. I know that the inversion would have happened very quickly, but it looked neat to take a heartline roll that close to the ground and in between the canyon walls. The S turn just doesn't sound as interesting. The ride will be missing something. I'm sure that it will still be fun, but knowing what was supposed to be there will make it lacking.

It is even more of a shame that the height requirement is being raised for this ride. Basically Cedar Point ordered a ride and two of the features (heartline roll and 48" height requirement) that were supposed to make it great are being taken away. I know some people are defending Intamin on this, but I can't see how this is good for the company. Intamin has a very bad record and I hope that Cedar Fair is smart enough to stay away from the company in the future.

On a more humorous note, I also remember people saying that the ride looked like something that they would design in Roller Coaster Tycoon. I know that one of the things with my roller coasters in the game is that I sometimes have to change a section of track to make the ride rideable. It is always difficult to fit the fix into the ride correctly. It is interesting to see that being done in the real world. (of course Cedar Fair is really on a roll with removing inversions from rides cough "son of beast" cough).

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

Gomez, where did Magnum have track removed from? That sounds pretty interesting buy I can't find anything about it on the web.

Third hill 'cause people were bashing their faces.

Ride on, MrScott!

I am disapointed because that part of Maverick was the main focus of the ride. Being that close to the ground was the most unique feature of the ride. However, I do understand the saftey reasons for their decision. I am just curious on how much money has been expensed to cover this mistake. Not only are the park guests inconvenienced, I wonder the dollar amount of this mistake and if the manufacturer is assuming all responsibility of this problem?

Don't forget intamin did not design the 360 roll, Werner Stengel did.

Yeah I'm real dissapointed with the roll being taken out.

With a change of this magnitude, will they need to do a pull through of that section for a clearance check again?

I would say no since the track isn't changing direction.

You still enter the canyon in the same fashion as the heartline roll and exit it the same as well. The only difference will be that you aren't rolling upside down, you'll just stay on top of the track.

I'd say they actually need less clearance than before.

Not to mention they didn't even do a pull through after the canyon was built - at least that we know of.

Sorry to change the topic but why are they/we calling it a 360° heartline?
For the longest time I've always wondered that. It doesnt complete a complete 360° turn. It seems more like a 180°+ roll than anything.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.:)

I wonder what they will do with the track they removed. The heartline would make a great lawn ornament for my back yard.:)

I am dissapointed, but I guess it had to be done. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Most of it is cut into pieces laying in the mud

I would still take a piece of it.:) Mud and all.

Oh well, the ride will still be fun. It is only one element. Life goes on.
