With all the rumors this month that have been exactly right about this ride, I am now almost fully confident that this ride will open by Memorial day. Plus, honestly, it's four pieces of track on a ride that's been tested for 26 days, with Cedar Point rushing through the night to get the track in there and installed.
Why would it take them all the way to June 2nd to get this thing running?
That said, I am saddened by the addition of 15-20 minutes to the wait of everything in the park next Wednesday, plus the 2 and a half minimum wait for Maverick. But whatever.

Jeff (and others) are the ones claiming the park only discovered the issue that Monday.
No. It has been widely accepted that this situation developed at the end of last week and into the weekend, as said in the podcast.

I found the end of T & T's response funny.
Jeff, the track was manufactured at a plant in Europe. It was then flown overseas, landed in New York and was then transported to Cedar Point on a flatbed truck. We're surprised nobody saw it on the turnpike!
I'm wondering who they are implying about not seeing on the turnpike. :)

Jeff, regardless of how you want to twist my words, I stand by them. I still say the ENTIRE process can't be done in a month - which I have said all along. I'm not waffling like you infer by saying the fabrication can't be done in a month. If you take two quotes from the entire threads of my conversation, then sure it looks like I said that.
The point is, we'll never know when they started the fabrication of the track and supports. We'll also never know when they first started coming up with a "contingency plan". Like Craig said, it doesn't really matter either. So, I'll agree to disagree on this whole topic.
How would we not know when they started? Did you read the blog? Did you listen to the podcast?

Jeff,
I'm glad your extensive construction experience has served you so well.
Are you saying you have worked in construction?
I have worked in construction for 12 years now. I have helped engineer and design many lighting projects.(Which is what I do at the point) There is no way that this track was only fabricated in a month coming from Europe. Anything coming from outside the U.S. needs to process thru customs and is usually a minimum of 3 days and that is just to be transported thru the U.S.. There is also customs service to be issued in Eurpoe. Now I am not for sure how it got to the U.S. but if it came into New York I am going to guess ship. Now how long does it take a ship to get here from Europe? If it went by plane it could have land in Cleveland or Detroit and go thru customs there. So this track replacement was in full swing far before they even announced it.

Well, they can't start fabrication before the design is complete and that was being finished right around the 8th. The track was on site last night, so obviously, 4 sections of track and their supports can be fabricated in 2 weeks. Maybe they were working 2 or 3 shifts. Any thing can be done given the proper motovation and money. Just look at Extreem Makeover Home Edition.
In a normal situation when there is time to do things on a standard schedule, I could see that they probably wouldn't have fabricated it this fast. But what do any of us here really know about the process of fabrication of coaster track. Jeff made a great point. They have hundreds of pieces that were made for the whole ride. You don't think they spent years fabricating it do you? If it took a month to make 4 pieces with the supports, we'd still be waiting for all the track to arrive for the rest of the ride. Not just these 4 pieces.

Rippin - you said USUALLY. Things can be processed much quicker through customs. It does cost more, but it can be done.
And the T's already pointed out (and Gomez quoted it) that it was flown in.

Aheermm... here's what T&T said in their latest blog (did you read it?):
...the track was manufactured at a plant in Europe. It was then flown overseas, landed in New York and was then transported to Cedar Point on a flatbed truck."
Nice research...

I'll say it again for some who might have missed it. Who cares?
All I know is that the ride was scheduled to open on May 12, but didn't. The track causing the delay was taken out and the new track is being put in as we speak. That's all that matters and anyone who says different is just trying to get some kind of conspiracy going over something stupid.

No, it's not that. It's that they want to be known among faceless people that they were "right".
Makes sense, don't it?
I'm no expert on construction either. I just have the common sense to accept what the experts, the people at the park, are telling me.
The meeting to sign-off on the revised track design was that week before the park opened. I don't know which day, and it was none of my business, so I didn't ask. I was grateful enough that much was shared with me. So assuming that meeting was Wednesday of that week, well, look at that, track in less than two weeks.
Flown in through New York City, brought on flat-beds, just as they said.
And if you're skeptical about the speed at which they can design this stuff, consider that The Gravity Group tweaked in the extra 90-degree banked curve while The Voyage was being built. A little computer magic and it was done. Deflection calculated, G-forces established, etc., just like that. And those cats are lucky, they don't need a fab plant to make track in Europe.

Sorry, I hadnt read what the double T's posted. I stand corrected on the flying in.
I am still with Halltd that this problem was been modified far before we were told.

You can't be serious with that statement. LOL!! But, now that you mention it, I guess it is a great comparison to this situation. ABC would like you to believe they pick a family, design and build an entire house in 5 days (or maybe it's seven - I forget). If you believe that, I feel sorry for you. It's a TELEVISION show for pete's sake. That house is designed and parts already constructed before they even break ground. What you see on TV is only a TINY piece of what goes into a project like that. I find it hysterical when they show them "designing" and "brainstorming" about the house after the family has already left. That stuff has all already been done and they're doing it for the cameras to try and convince you it's real.
It is ironic you bring it up though because that's what I think happened in this case. What we the public see and hear is what they want us to.
Did you believe when the park said they had "no idea" what all the excavation was for on the WWL site? Did you also believe them when they said they didn't know what the track was when it started showing up outside of Breakers Express? It's called PR people.
