Gotta say, those horseshoe rolls are probably the gentlest and most fun inversions I've ever ridden.

Wow... I am completely exhausted, and I will have a full trip report tomorrow with pics, but I am SOLD on Maverick. After 3 rides today, this coaster is in real contention to be my new number 1! The ride simply does not let up until the final brakes.
As for the back/front debate. I rode both front row, and back row... and I must say... I am split. The intensity is so much greater in the backrow.... but the visuals were stunning from the front.
Thanks to all the Pointbuzzers for hanging out today! It was a great time...
Oh... and I think Adam has a confession for all of us...
He hasn't been too faithful lately. ;)

^^Yeah yeah, per yours and Davids request.....I am now "bi-coasteral". :)
The only thing that deterd me from Dragster (which was running great) was the wait. Almost every major ride had a line, and Maverick didnt totally take away from Dragsters or even Millenniums line.
As for Maverick as a whole, UNBELIEVABLE!!! The combination of the themeing, how fast the queue moves, how easy it is to get front, music (imo), and the whole ride experience makes Maverick my new favorite coaster! 3 rides may not have been much, but she went down at around 7:40 when I was in line for the 4th and I'm pretty sure they didnt get her back up for the remainder of the night as I had to leave at 9:00.
Dont get me wrong, I still love Dragster and I'm still one of her biggest fans, but right now, Maverick has almost all of my attention. I just couldnt get enough of that amazing ride.

Is the only "mountain" the one that had the heartline? The video and all the drawings had several rock formations but I assumed those would get nixed as is the Cedar Fair way.

No, there's 2 canyons total. The one on the first turns and the one on the s-curve.

we got to the soak city lot yesterday at 8:30 am and it was quite crowded. when everyone got cut loose, the mad dash was on. our party made it to maverick and we waited 30-40 minutes for our first ride and i was more than satisfied. i can now forgive cedar fair for the removal of wwl. we got our shirts and fleece jackets, put them in the van and everything was everything. got back in line for maverick at 6, got just one ride away for loading onto maverick and it was dead in the water. we burned 2 hours on trying to ride it again but those things happen. we weren't too upset because the whole day was a good time. one guy in the station house from grand rapids didn't take it too well and was heading toward chernobyl mode. he just needed a xanax, i think. i dig maverick.

I'm with Adam on this one. I'm just as much a fan of Dragster as he is, but Maverick is stealing my attention too.
If Maverick hadn't been down last night, I would have spent two full days at the park this weekend without a single ride on Dragster. Maverick is just that good.
And it was great to experience it with much better weather than we had on Saturday, and with the group of fellow pointbuzzers :)
Yesterday was pretty fun. I can't remember seeing so many enthusiasts particularly ACE members at the park on the same (non-event) day.

I got to the park yesterday and got in early with Joe Cool - didn't get back to the ride until about 9:30 though and it was already lined up past the queue enterance! The queue area is great though with a nice selection of music. They even played the Maverick theme song. (I think someone on these forums thought that would be a good idea when we first heard the music back in september). The line went pretty fast - we waited outside the actual queue for about 20 minutes and then waited through the whole queue in about 1.5 hours. The ride was great! You fly up that lift hill! I thought the tunnel would be more intense though. And the trims afterward bleed quite a bit of speed off. The s-bend almost felt like straight track to me. I almost missed it. The heartline roll would have been cool but oh well. The ride is up and down quite a bit. I think it shut down early last night and then didn't open for Joe Cool this morning but we only had to wait about half an hour after getting in line at 10:00. Great ride!
Almost forgot...they have parallel stair lines going up to the platform...they were using the second set for a single rider line!!! It looked like they were just experimenting though so we'll have to see if they set it up in a more organized way later.
I hope they figure out something for the SRL. It can only help the speed of the line.

Maverick is a great ride..if you havent ridden it yet boy o boy do you need to get to CP to ride it..it is definitely my favorite ride at CP now and the front seat with the first drop one word..amazing!..and in the back its awesome because you get wipped over the airtime hills..and the launch tunnel effects and the mist by the pond and everything it all adds up to a great ride..and it is worth the wait also if you think oh its too long and whatnot. *** Edited 5/29/2007 7:27:53 PM UTC by Jerreus***
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
Another thing that sells me about Maverick is it's line. It's sooo fast pace! Even with both queues completely filled, the line hardly stops for more than 3 minutes. My friend and I plan on marathoning Maverick on my b-day trip......full queue or not.:)

57 ish MPH.
I too, agree that Maverick is AMAZING. SO much action...the lift is great, the drop is great, the turns are fast...good amount of floater air...WOW!!
Cedar point hit the mark with this one.
I think after riding it a heartline roll in the canyon would have ruined the ride...you have too much speed going into that. The S Curve feels nice too.

I have not ridden Maverick yet but just by seeing the reverse POVs, the lift hill is nowhere near 57 MPH in my best estimate.
Did you just pull that number out of your rear?

My guess is it's somewhere around 20mph. It then slows to around 10 or so when it gets to the top.
Aside from that, the actual first drop is around 57mph.
